AN EXPERIMENT TO CALCULATE THE YOUNG'S MODULUS OF A METER RULE USING AN OSCILLATING CANTILEVER BEAM

  • In this video, we obtain the young's modulus of elasticity of a metre rule using an oscillating cantilever beam. I also demonstrate how to measure the uncertainty/error in some of the measuring instruments used (a metre rule and a vernier caliper). The error in slope is also determined. These errors are all considered in obtaining the error in the Young's Modulus. The value of Young's Modulus obtained from the experiment is expressed along with the error and are both expressed in both measurement units and SI units of Young's Modulus.

    why did you take the mass on the y-axis isnt it the independent variable?

    Sir the from the former video u didn't add the estimated standard error in Young's Modulus to the actual Young's Modulus.
    So if we are to answer these kind of questions, which are we going to use finally as our Young's Modulus? Is it the modulus with added error or the one without added error; that's the first one🤷🏻‍♂️

      I also noticed that, well I went back to look at the error in the first one and it was really really small, I guess that's one reason he might have just skipped it but I'm not sure if that's totally true 😩

    What is gained by studying this Young's modulus?
