    Beautiful. Finally started losing weight, also just started building our home down here in Louisiana, and gave up the nightly bowl of ice cream...5 lbs so far, feels good from 222 to 217. My goal is 195 which is where the bmi scale puts me for being 6'4". Just had my annual too, Doc says, "you could do without the ice cream."

    I remember drilling holes for soffit vents for a "U S Home" condo project back in 1984 like you. They were only 2 inch and 16" oc. I think my arms are still tired 38 years later LOL. Like you i used a sawtooth hole saw. The next soffit and facia crew to show up did it better using an auger bit and did the holes on a bench with the soffit lumber stacked together. They were sloppy though, and the holes were random and instead of friction fit some of them were held in with stainless siding trim coil nails. They didn't even bother to align the "midget louver" vent slots to line up. I think i still have a box of them louvers over in my garage i rent for my Chevelle along with old tools i no longer use. On your Videos Ken it's nice to see us old guys still at it and not afraid to climb!

    Wow, that's fast Ken. So this is Joe? Too bad about the concrete truck driver getting stung by the bee. Wow, nice with the shiplap. Sure takes some time with the blocking and the corner braces. That's neat that you can put the gable ends up before the trusses. Beautiful spot for a garage Ken. Nice view. Great job getting the trusses on. Plywood for the roof went on really fast. Same with the roof membrane. Rakes on and shiplap finished. Facia boards and soffit. Trim boards around garage doors. Cutting those soffit vents looks a bit hard to do. Chad did a nice paint job. Metal roof on. Garage doors put in. Wow, the white doors with black building is a real contrast. Nice corner braces and spacer on the trusses Ken. Thanks for showing that. It sure seems to stiffen the building envelope. Thanks for another great video Ken!

    I have the truss spacer down the middle on mine, but my inspector had me add a kicker (maybe truss #3 or #4) from the truss spacer to the top of the outside truss on both ends. He said it keeps the trusses from racking to one side or the other in high winds. Also, I like the idea of the angle braces at each end. I'll add those to mine.

Here are a few more thoughts on how 3 young guys built a double car garage and a 2 story house in 2 weeks, 8 hours a day- they used a air nailer ,a model 77 worm drive skilsaw and a chop saw, also a small chainsaw and of course hammer & drills, they used a footing and stemwall for the house but a Monolithic pour for the cement Garage. Materials from the local lumber Yard

    Please forgive me for reading the stupid siding from start to finish 😢you must practice ,patience will come naturally if given a chance I am glad hurricane season is over well sort of rain makes for easier shovelling though. Aw your favourite part putting the wall up is going nicely sorry the rain delayed the blocking hurrah the shiplap made your dream came through? Windy day to be putting the wrap up. The window looks good to me too. Watching a commercial with patience. More stuff going up thanks for the clarification.wow I thought it would be horizontal not vertical 😮😂my heart in my mouth when you play on the top putting the trusses up of course it brings to mind other images thanks for the smile. Another commercial for cars this time oh good you’re back with the plywood glad it wasn’t so windy as it could have been when . Only two hundred dollars worth of nails. Darn I missed hearing a couple of comments note to self don’t leave hearing aids down stairs not watching two ads the billy grahams commercial with anything but……. Rather hear the nail gun and compressor but I maintained my patience 😊glad you had some assistance I an now wondering if the verticals was the shiplap after all I am patiently waiting for clarification. Another commercial car I think hard to tell. Wind that’s not a wind it’s not a gentle breeze another ad some. Truss face rot spacer I will hit the like button thanks for the reminder se you and the commercials in the next video ❤😂❤🎉😊one is installing a kitchen wants me to buy stuff. Glad the doors are going up all finished glad you had fun editing editing all incomprehensible words are due too this expletive deleted tablet and the choices it made . Spelling errors though are mainly my most grievous fault 😮❤🎉❤😮

    Hi Ken,
    great content, one question Ken, when you put the trusses up I notice that you only nail the bottom cord of the truss to the top plate, in Australia the code calls for triple way metal connectors on every truss where it sits on the top plate with at least 4 high tensile clouts in every face of the connectors. Obviously you don’t need that where you are but I was wondering if any states call for that over there?

      We also mail through the roof plywood into the ladder.

  • @airman6822
    @airman6822 Před rokem +4

    Question: If you're going to use metal roofing, is it necessary to put plywood or OSB down first? Seems unnecessary to support the metal or is there another reason? I mean, pole barns usually don't do that.

      @amorales9613 Před rokem

      Probably customer preference and security. As a customer, Is like the look of the windows higher.
