I have an 06 Impala ltz. The 10amp fuse kept blowing for the a/c solenoid. I used engine degreaser, then powerwasher, then pulled the harness down and ripped the tubing off it near the a/c unit, cleaned that up and unplugged the a/c at the compressor. Found missing jacked on part of the green wire, used that to test continuity to the 10a fuse, and it was good with the ohm meter. That told me the ground was bad, but after I cleaned it all up and plugged it back in, expecting to blow a fuse, it worked just fine. I suspect the clutch was full of black goop from the former owner never fixing a valve cover gasket. The gobs of gunk that came out were unreal. That might have been what was blowing the fuse; the clutch was obstructed.
Everything was working this morning after replacing my AC compressor, vacuum and recharge.. then I found out my blower was was cutting on and off because the wires that supply power to the blower where already cut before and the tape was coming off so I Re-spliced them. While I was splicing them I did see some Sparks on the wires but the blower still blows. Now the only issue is that the AC only works in recirculation mode and not in outside air mode. The clutch only engages on the compressor when recirculation is turned on. If I press the outside air button, it automatically switches to recirculation. Do you think I blew a fuse while splicing the blower connections together? Why won't it circulate fresh air from the outside anymore?r
I have the same vehicle and I'm having an issue. I've replaced the thermostat, the cooling sensor, and the anti freeze and hoses. I've checked the fuses and relay and they all seem to be good. I have the same heater control in the cabin. Do you have any way to test the control unit to rule out that unit?
I have a 2012 impala and my resistor to my blower motor keeps getting burnt up already replaced blower motor and wires and resistor still does the same thing do you think it could be due to the control switch ?
Hey i was wondering if you knew what was going on with my car? When i turn my a/c on the next time i turn the car off and on it wont turn on. The battery just dies. Im guessing its the alternator but ive done quick google searches and they all say the a/c doesnt have anything to do with the battery draining. Any ideas would be helpful, thank you
My air conditioner just all of a sudden turned off I replace the the relays in the fuses I put AC booster and it still will not turn on do you know what I can do
what if the compressor is engaging but the fans dont work i changed out all my fuses and relays. Cleaned my connections cleaned my fuse box and check all my connections. Changed my coolant temp sensor.Still no fans. I turned my compressor by hand. its not locked up.
Wiggling a relay sideways as he did tends to widen the prongs on the circuit board. Then, you may have intermittent contact problems. Take the fuse box apart and bend the prongs so they grasp the relay tight again.
hey thanks this really helped can you help figure out why my Impala when I drive it suddenly goes into trucks control in reduced power. but there no check engine light
Hey man! My 2013 Chevy impala has a fan problem… my fans are stuck in max and even when I turn the knob to off; they’re still going. After I turn off the car, the fans for some reason keep blowing even when I take the key off and leave the car. I’m not sure what is causing it but for the mean time I had to disconnect the battery… any suggestions?
What if my car isn’t blowing any air at all hot or cold. Which fuse would I check in that case? I’m not sure if it would be considered AC since it’s not specifically cold air I’m talking about I’m just talking any temperature air.
If you mean when you turn the fan on it doesn't blow at all but the AC light is on? If thats the case then it could be your resistor is bad or you need to check your long pink 30amp battery fuse (its gonna be at the top of the fuse box dead center). That long pink 30amp fuse sends power directly to the blower. If its blown change it and the blower will come on if the resistor is ok.
So i checked all the fuses and ac compressor are both fine. It spins when u turn ac on. I can also hear it click and my fan turns on. However both ac and heat are not blowing at all in my car. Absolutely nothing is coming our of the vents. I dont have the tools to check the wires and voltages. Is there a rough estimate on what could be making both ac and heat not working?
This is a very helpful video, but I have a question, I have a 2015 Chevy Impala LT V6, and the ac throws hot air on both sides of the driver side put cold on the two sides of the passenger, it also makes a loud constant clicking sound, this sound will happen even if the car is off, can you help me figure it out. I took it to get fixed once and six months later it after that it started again. once I mess with the hot/cold switch , after a while it starts to throw cold air. Please can you help me? Thank you for your time.
I have a question, 2013 Chevy Impala, after my thermostat housing was changed I drove it that day and was working just fine, the very next day, I crank the car up and nothing on my dashboard is on, like it's completely off except the engine light is on and the ac won't come on. What could that be?? Everything else comes in, radio, outside lights interior lights are all on except the dashboard and ac
In case you're still trying to fix it the impala has 3 different blend door actuators. The two behind the glove box are for the passenger side and the recirculating/fresh air. The one for the drivers side is under the steering wheel and it's a bitch to get to
Does it matter if the ac relay is in upside down. When I checked my fuse box my relay has the numbers on the left side and yours is on the right. Is my relay flipped and possibly the cause?
I checked my relay with a 9 volt battery on positive and negative terminals and it clicks so i know the relay is fine and the 10amp fuse isn't blown for the compresser I just want to try all my options before just replacing the compressor.
Hey what's up buddy just seen your video and just have a question about the AC unit I have the same type of vehicle 2008 Chevy Impala LT my AC light just keeps blinking and doesn't work when I turn my vehicle on both high and low speed fans kick on when I turn my vehicle off hi fan stops and low-speed keeps running for about 1 to 2 minutes and then will stop would you be able to guide me in the right direction to diagnose the problem
Two things but ims say bad coolant temp sensor or your fans are not cooling the car good enough for the pcm to allow the ac to work. Check your coolant levels on a cold day and make sure its full. If you add ALOT of coolant then you need to bleed the system by starting the car for 25 secs with the cap snug on and repeat until your coolant level stays at the top.
My actuators are constantly going off draining my battery when the car is off. Definitely need to take the fuses out until I get the actuators replaced . Do the first 2 fuses you mentioned in the beginning of the video control the actuators?
2008 impala ac blows amazing going down the road..Get in stop and go traffic it starts kicking on and off..Or like in a drive thru cuts on and off..I've checked freon pressure it's where it should be..Works great while going down the road just quits when coming to a stop any ideas??
If it keeps blowing the fuse for ac compressor does it mean it’s a compressor issue or relay issue? I haven’t tried the relay because I’m not good with mechanics or electrical issues at that but I don’t have money to take it to a professional
Your ac compressor wires are exposed to the metal part of the car. Most likely its somewhere on the subframe or a bad ground in that area. If you turn the ac on and the fuse blows right away but the ac light is still on in the car then yes you have a power to ground short. Find the exposed wire, electrical tape and that should do it.
@@scoobydoo6370 thank you for the advice I’ll try that since I’m not too handy when it comes to mechanics, that way I won’t take stuff apart and hopefully it works thank you
@@ernestescamilla2463 Best way to trouble shoot it would be to have a floor jack and jack the car up from the front dead center and use two jacks stands to support the car. @@scoobydoo6370 one more question if it’s no problem, I looked for an exposed wire following the wires that go to the ac compressor and in to the fuse box, I seen no exposed wires and the compressor wheel moves normal when moved by hand what I did was turn the wheel twice and banged on the middle of the wheel softly with the wood end of the hammer and then it started working for about 30 mins then it stoped working and blowing fuses again could that mean the ac compressor is bad? Or still a short somewhere I can’t see?
What if ac/RLY 10 amp fuse keeps burning out what will cause that? It was blowing cold for a couple of weeks then started blowing regular air that's when I realized about 10amp fuse ac/RLY was burnt. I have a 04 Chevy impala 3.4 liter base model

Hey thanks for the info.. it was really helpful... I tried a 25 fuse and that one blew out.. should I keep trying higher fuses or what should I do?
Don't use a higher amp fuse. You can damage the wires and your pcm doing that. Your ac compressor wires are exposed to the metal part of the car. Most likely its somewhere on the subframe or a bad ground in that area. The clicking is a common issue among impalas. You likely need to replace your blend door actuator. Its a small part behind the glove box.
