There is risk with the Demidov selection, just as there was risk with the Michkov selection last season.

We got the steal of the draft Tony ..Demidov is for sure the most skilled player of this draft imo
Montreal got really lucky. The 4 first teams before the habs were all rebuilding but had all different needs...so the canadiens ended up with Demidov...who will likely be their best player in 3 to 5 years !!!

Everyone talks about Kovalev but forgets Radulov. Radulov was great for the Habs as well.
You guys should see if you could get Senecke on Grant's show! Grant had me sold on Senecke at 5 and I wasn't surprised he was gone when Kent went to pick!
Senecke at three was a big surprise based on all the lists but I think that it will turn out really well, the guy has some magic. Demidov still there at #5, that was another surprise, I thought that the Habs would pick Iginla, Lindstrom or maybe even Senecke, depending on who was still available. Very happy with Demidov at #5. Hage at #21 might turn out to be a bit of a steal, I thought that they moved up to try to get him or Eiserman, so that worked out really well for the Habs. All in all, I'd say it was a pretty good day at the draft for the Habs.
The rebuild is starting to look really interesting. Next year will be continuing to deal with some question marks but if all goes well then 25/26 has the potential to be real exciting.
I hope we ''suck'' one more year and get another top 10 in the next draft. No use being close to the playoffs or going in just for 1 round. The reward of finishing in the bottom 10 could be a lot greater.

We might still get a decent first round pick for the original Monahan trade with Calgary. It could range from #11 to #32 depending on where the Flames and Panthers finish in the standings. Of course, if by chance there are no player names ending with the letter "s" on either team and the moon is in Aquarius, the pick gets pushed back to 2026. Or sump'n like that...

The draft.
Dream draft tony. Not going to lie though what would have made it perfect would have been getting Connelly or eiserman at 21. Was disappointed that both went just before the habs pick. But hage looks like a solid zone entry scoring forward with top 6 potential so couldn’t be happier.
Selecting Connely would have created a gigantic shitstorm of controversy for Mtl. I don’t think they would have had the guts of doing it.

Habs fans that are too young to remember when the Habs always won, don’t even realize what Montreal is doing with this rebuild and that they’re living in the best time right now to be a Habs fan. Even if half our prospects don’t pan out, the other 50% make the team and pretty much roster a team.

Philly is bringing Michkov over in an assumed deal with KHL over his contract. Do you think there's any chance the Habs could bring him early in similar fashion? I ask this based on your perception that he could play in the NHL.

I have been saying that as well for a long time, I am more impressed with people who predicted that he would actually be available. 😉That was unpredictable, surprising and even shocking given Demidov skills set. Senneke before Demidov? I think Senneke will be a great player but really, before Demidov!!!

Insane trade potentially if Columbus would of accepted... and Chicago would of went Demidov.....really would of fucked the Habs and potential 1-2 first time in new era a team drafts top 2 picks for Columbus... hard to trigger that trade as a new gm ... theyll probably pick top 5 next year again so why wait but yea these draft classes are becoming insane and the 1st round picks trading them will be a thing of the past.... to much value

Russian factor as well hard to scout and no guarantees that you can control his development and when he crosses over.
