When I watched this and saw what Mai was just getting herself into, and just after Jounouchi dropped the ball hard on her face before the duel, the music doesn't help, especially when you felt the same fear Mai did. We knew Marik was the big bad this season, we knew the big hero would be the one to fight, but still, getting up to that point, his opponents were as good as dead.
Best thing about the Japanese version, it's for teen. The manga as well. First of all the manga is a shonen. And Shonen manga are primarily marketed towards male teenagers. And the OCG age range is 13 and up. Seriously look it up. I have google translate so it helped me find out. It's very accurate. i have language experts back me up on it.

theres a torrent on a certain website that involves pirates which has the entire series in japanese (amazing quality dvd rip) and subs. I watched the whole thing in japanese and i got to say some of the differences between the original version and 4 kids are massive. around the end of the series it seems 4 kids completely changed the plot and created huge plotholes that way
When I hear this theme, I just feel as though somebody is 6 chess moves ahead of myself and is reading my mind as I speak. I also feel both scared and excited as I notice that somebody aligned with the forces of evil is slowly seeping my soul/mind into darkness and oblivion!
I think it was because Jounouchi passed out on his own; Yami Marik never actually inflicted a Penalty Game on him like he did the others (Bakura, Mai), because he though Jounouchi was dying on his own. I think that's the only reason he was able to wake up; he was simply fatigued by the Dark Game and not stricken by it for his loss.
This is such an awesome theme for dark marik. i love it.

At the end of episode 90 Marik whispering Yami no Game was so chilling.
The malaise in the Japanese soundtrack is so nuanced and subtle as compared to the in-your-face 4Kids version. :P

You'll love him in the Manga. He's so damn sarcastic towards his opponents (especially towards normal Marik), it's glorious.

Yes but that in the USA. Yugioh is primarliy for teens in Japan. The age range for the OCG is 13+.
