Hey Steve. Nice to see you back with your own videos. Good video as always. I bought the RG 505 to get android, a faster processor and a larger screen. I love it. Have a great Fall buddy!😊
is it a nice purchase?
I paid extra for the RG353V just because I was paranoid I'd regret it! I pretty much never use the android OS, but I'm happy it's there. Also it boots pretty fast.
You aren't alone. I did the exact same thing. For the exact same reason.
Really great comparison. I have the Miyoo Mini Plus and while I love it’s pocketability, I have to admit I’m craving something with a larger screen. I feel like 3.5 inches is good for handhelds but kind of does a deservice to older console games which were designed for home TVs.
Found the V on FB marketplace for $50 that was basically new. What a steal.
damn cheapest i found was 61$
I can honestly say this is the first time I subscribed right away when suggested.
I appreciate it. 🙏
I’ve been thinking about the RH353P. Different form factor, but identical under the hood. To me, it just looks more comfortable. That dual boot option is the appealing part for me as well
d pad sucks
Great video 😁I picked up the RG353V ($235 Canadian) when it was talked about on one of the shows. It is a great quality system.
I think the big issue with these devices is the price right now. The retroid pocket 2S has power crept it. It really needs a good price drop for it to be an actual good value at this point.
If you add shipping and taxes the anbernic will be about 30-40 bucks cheaper. And it has linux
@@HPPrintervx4p5qI think he’s talking about the new 2S ($99) with the same chipset as the slightly older 3 Plus ($150ish). I see what he’s saying but at that point it just comes down to if you prefer the Vertical or Horizontal handheld design.
@@hdlts2 yea I know. But it's 99$ without shipping or tax, so it costs 20-40$ more than the base price depending on where you live.
@@HPPrintervx4p5q true. I usually try to shop sales or sites with free shipping so I didn’t think of that
@@HPPrintervx4p5qthat’s not how it works buddy lol I paid less for my rp2s imported to Canada that for this at its price in usd for the android version and the rp2s has way more emulation power for the price and much better controls. This model comes in at over $230 Canadian while my rp2s landed with import duties and shipping was under $210 Canadian. Keep in mind that was shipping from overseas not from litnxt with a crazy increased price.
Was blessed to find a link directly to Anbernic and am waiting on the 53v for 57$ 🤞🏽grateful af
Got mine for $30🤝
howd u get it for so cheap???
Great review 👍, appreciate your honest reviews, letting us know what console games does and does not work.
Please do a custom OS comparison along with where you get them and basic setup for them all! Thank you!
I've got the 351V and the only thing really enticing to me about the updated version is the speaker placement and the new shape of the shoulder buttons.
I think I'll stick with what I have.
The RG351V is a solid device.
I have 1 too. I prefer the vertical form factor and that's why I'm here watching this video. Just wondering if it's worth the upgrade.
Can you play long sessions confortably on it? How is it using the joystick and triggers at the same time?
@@dadou193 What's your definition of long sessions and comfortably? Do you have little girly hands? Then it should be fine for you.
@@Cyko.. not sure if you are trying to be funny with the girly hand comment. It's quiet the opposite as i have bigger hands than average
Good comparison, I didn't actually know this. I managed to get a 353VS for under £30, and for that price it will probably be great. Shipping takes forever though and I'm having to wait another week or so for it to arrive. I'm looking forward to getting it and see what it can do 😊
Have you already receive it for that price?
@@manuel4073 no I have not yet received it. I’m convinced the seller is a scam. I’ve waited since early October but all I get are excuses and pleas be patient…
Where I want to get one
@@dominosnostradamus2415 some Chinese seller from facebook, I was willing to take a chance on it due to the price but I’ve already had to do a chargeback twice 🙄 I’m pretty sure I won’t get one, the first one ad fake tracking, second got delivered to someone the other end of the country 400 miles away and the third is still in transit. 3 different sellers but all scammers.
If it was new it is probably a scam at that price.
Never saw any under 70$
I like my VS better then the V only because I didn't want a all in one console. I just wanted something to play only old hand helds on and the VS is awesome for that. Playing PS1 and some 64 titles is just a really cool bonus. I got my VS for 80$ and I seen the V for 120$ so I saved 40$. If you want to buy a all in one I would recommend a psvita because you get the nice option of a OLED screen an vitas in my area run anywhere from 100-150$. Just food for thought.
Pricing in the States is high. I can get the RG353V at around 96 dollars here in the Southeast Asia region. And that's only the base price. With coupons I can get it as low as 70 dollars.
I brought it in china with shipping cost already 120dollars. Where did you get it around 96dollars?
The fact that you don’t even recommend it yet it’s still the video they put on the product page is why I’m buying it from them.
They clearly know they have the best product and chose a video that showcased it very well. Really excited to check it out. Have no idea how to get games though and heard the SD cards crap out after a month or less.
I'd definitely recommend you get your own SD card for the roms. It's super easy, one you put the SD card in (formatted as fat32) it will create all the correct folders on the drive.
Then just drag and drop your files over.
Alternatively, if you buy a preloaded card from them, you can simply drag and drop it to your own brand name SD card.
@@Restalgia I have a couple SD cards that I use for my Steam Deck. I’m going to clear one of them, reformat and then copy all the games that come with the included SD onto that. That way I’ve got some games on a good card while learning to build my own collection.
Hoping that’s a possibility
Thanks for the review! Quick question …did all the games come with the system or did you download them yourself?
Everything came exactly as I showed out of the box. I didn't add any games
@@Restalgia awesome, thanks for the quick reply!
One year please. You didn't mention the saving progress. Does it work normally.? Does it provide the choice to save the progress on more than one games.? Thanks!
Sorry if I’m not tech informed!!!
Does this come with the games installed? Or do you have to self load some type of emulator?
has games on it
All these handheld channels makes you think one is the best thing ever....then a better one comes out a week later and they say "this one will be the best for 10 years" ...then another better one comes out. I learned the hard way when i got the rp2+ almost none bluetooth or 2.4 bluetooths connect to it. So I felt lied to since none of the channels pointed out the cons
Pros and cons after living with RG353V for a few weeks. Linux is good for instant gaming sessions, and much more comfortable to use than Android. But both on stock OS and ArkOS I got random freezes in menu, so that reset button is there for a reason. HDMI works better on Linux, because on Android screen gets strethced and also doesn't turn off on the console, so the battery drains faster. I use Android only for some simple android games, youtube and standalone emulators.
I don’t get random freezes on mine, must be something with your sd card?
@@josem.garibay5478 no, I think it has something to do with videos in game select menu, because I turned them off and issue is gone
Hey, man. If you don't mind I would like to ask if your device get hot when you a playing a lot with HDMI.
@@MarcusIIFerreira haven't played with hdmi a lot, so can't say. But hdmi has a higher output resolution than console screen, so it's logical that cpu and gpu get to do more work which may result in higher temperature.
I would be tempted to buy one of those if I didn't have a PlayStation VITA. It emulates many consoles and plays it's own games of course which are great. And it's OLED screen is better than most mobile screens nowadays. Looks better than my Samsung cellphone.
Yeah I'd be tempted too if my phone didn't do everything the Vita can do but better.
@@Cyko.. Of course, but I rather to use the Vita controls as they are pretty good for a handheld console. And if I want to emulate even better, I have a PC and I can even hack my Xbox Series X with RetroArch, but no need for that. Vita is old dude, of course a cellphone would do better in the sense of performance but it does it's job still until date, that well made it is even after 11 years.
@@rockslash5614 I have a PS Vita and I love it. I actually have a few of them. But my favorite is the one I put over 250 Vita games on it, about 50 PS1 games, and over 300 PSP games. All run perfectly with no issues. I got that one plugin installed that automatically makes Vita games run and look better when needed. As far as emulation goes, it does 32 bit and under (1975s-1995s systems) well, but Daedalus 64 could be better let's be honest.
I luckily managed to get mine 2nd hand for 45$. Seller's issue was he doesn't now how to boot back to Linux and he thought it was broken. I thought him how to but he just doesn't care about it anymore and sold it to me. It's almost the same price as more powerful handhelds RP2s which is amazing(it's android though) so I can't recommend it either unless it went on sale and you have some vouchers or the price went down because it's becoming older and older and you like the form factor or got it 2nd hand with no issue.
I have the 353v and ape escape 1 was the first thing I added onto it - when I booted it up, the right analog stick wasn't being read still? Is there something additional I need to do in the settings? Every button works but the right analog stick in that specific game . Is is supp to work out the box or anything else I need to change?
Super late to reply to this, but ape escape doesn't really use the right stick. I remember this as a kid. You gotta use the D-pad to turn the camera, it's just the game controller layout, not your device. Unless I'm missing some other use the right stick had
@@lampario2862Hey appreciate your reply - I did end up figuring this out though! It was something in the settings and needing to change it to Dualshock for controller. That got it working. I played this game as a kid as well, you do actually have to use the right joy stick or it's unplayable. It's the "action" button, if that makes sense. Like when he's holding the sword, you would tilt the joy stick to hit. Or when he's holding the net - or if you wanted to use that one helicopter gadget, you'd do circles with the right joystick. It was really one of the only games around that time that utilized the right joystick like that.
Okay, genuine question. How did you get it to look the way it does when browsing the consoles? I HATE the way Garlic OS looks on mine and would LOVE to get mine to look like it does at 0:55
In settings, go to UI settings and change the theme to Anbernic - Simple - Theme
@@Restalgia Is that in the Garlic OS or the Stock OS? Because I don’t have this theme
@@1700korn stock os, sorry man I missed you are running on garlic
I'm not tech savvy at all but I love Pokemon. If I owned one console and don't have any friends with another console, is there anyway of completing Pokedex's and trade evolving etc? Would love to play Gens 1-3 again.
Just need to hold the [F] button then press power on, it will boot into Android, don't have to remove the TF Card
Hi are these better than a Sony ps vita ??? Are they better graphics or the screens better 😊
the question is where can I see a list of games on it? I am currently looking for Breath of fire games up to BoF3
Great video
Got my RG353V for $50 0n FBM. I feel very lucky after watching this video.
@restalgia my game play doesn’t go beyond PS2 and Nintendo 64. Is this good for those platforms ?
You won't get ps2 running on here at all, and n64 is hit and miss, so you may be better to invest in a more powerful device
great material
Great video buddy, nice to see that handsome face!
I do not know what to get? Should i get a dsi? I want to animate flipnote but i also want Android.
is it possible to get android operating system for the 353vs?
Do these come with preloaded games
Which one is the better one to buy rg353v or rg353vs ? To play playstation games?
I just want something to play Pokémon games. Which one would you recommend / do they come with the games already?
They do come pre-loaded. Honestly if you just want to play retro gameboy/gameboy advance your better off with Miyoo Mini +. It's cheaper, slightly smaller, same screen size and performance will be the same too. It does have a different UI though, so if that's important you could do the RG353VS.
Pokemon are broken cant save games in mine its a paper weight now.
So which ones better then ?
I had a question and I didn't have to ask it. Because I seen it with my own eyes.. When the games booted up on the hand helds. I seen Alien VS predator on your RG353VS. Then, in the background, you had it in the arcade, too. So I can tell you like that game.. That was my question: Was that game on the system...😂 I'm gonna order it now... Thanks on the review! 💯
AVP is one the best beat em' ups released!
@@Restalgia Right! It is hard to find! That's one of the main reasons why I bought it yesterday! I was like what a coincidence... It's playing on the little screen now..😂
I bought a Nintendo DSI for $50 and put twilight menu on it which has been great. Been looking at this for a while but finding it hard to find the point if I have the twilight menu? Can someone help me out?
Ca. U play n64 games stock or do that require some tweaking/ modding on your part ?
What is the name of the game at 4:00?? Remember playing as a kid but can't remember the name
Adventure island 2 for NES
I have a 351V but what would be a good solid upgrade ? Mainly cause the chipset is obviously dated on the 351 V
405V would be an upgrade, or the retroid pocket 4/4 pro
So do these devices come with all games or does an extra card need to be bought?
It comes with it in the packaging
I wanted to buy a Miyoo Mini Plus but I really need one playing not only PS1 but N64 games. Do you recomment this one better then?
No, n64 will run but it struggles with many common games. You would be better off with RG405M which runs n64 games much better
@@Restalgia I really appreciate your comment, I'm a total ignorant of these handhelds consoles. Thank you
Oh dang, this video was a face-reveal for me haha!
Hopefully I didn't scare you off
Bought the vs and swapped the as card to newer and it stopped working completely
Whats the difference with r36s?
Which one do you recommend between the anbernic rg353v, rg35xx plus, and powkiddy rgb30?
Its alittle overwhelming because there are some many to choose from
@@-edsense-rivera3716 it depends on what consoles you want to play. If you want to play gameboy and gameboy color, rgb30 has the best screen for that. If you want to run ps1 games and play more advanced stuff, I would probably go rg353v, or even the rg405 for n64/dreamcast.
If you have the budget, my favorite handheld so far has been the retroid pocket 4 pro.
hopefully you’re still replying to comments but what do you think i should buy? the rg353v, the rg353vs, or the rg35XX plus? which is the best out of the three?
Really depends on what you are after in terms of performance. The rg35xx H is good, but their new rg556 is the best one they have at the moment. I recently did a review of that as well
@@Restalgia do you think i should get one of those or go for one of the more portable handheld ones? (such as the ones i listed) and out of the ones i listed which is best when considering performance and compatibility? for example is the new pro as comparable as the rg353V. i’m sorry for all the questions but i want one really bad, and i was hoping you’d be able to help me narrow down which one i want.
@@Restalgia the plus has more battery life (8hours compared to 6) but is it BETTER than the 353v?
So if you take out the SIM card you can still access the games through the android side of the system? Can someone explain more for me please?
There are 2 SD cards. One is OS only, the other is all the games. If you remove only the OS SD card, it will boot in Android and you still have access to all games
@@Restalgia awesome! Thank you. Another question what Tomb Raider games are on here?
Can run epsxe in android mode?
I bought the VS, does anyone know what the 2nd sd card that comes in the box is for?
I bought one just waiting for it to come but I think it’s just extra maybe you can download other games to play on it but I’m not to sure
are sega saturn games playable on this
I got the + and love it but kind of regret it too. No n64 bc no joystick. 🕹️ you can custom map it but it’s a pain. Will probably get this or the h for the 3D games
Mines didn't come with all those games they said it would. 21 games and that's all... Didn't even come with THAT many games. Why are there NO games allowed?lll
Mine too! 21 games😑
Mine came with all fighting games, which I don't like. So what I do is shop for an sd card with more storage and a wide variety of games.
How do these devices manage with the little yellow buttons on the n64 games?
You map the buttons to the second analog stick. C-UP woukd be up direction on the stick
@@Restalgia I see...thanks!!!
Can anyone help me get more systems amd roms on my 353p??
So these do come with multiple games right?
Yes
my virtical beastttt! gona get the retroid pocket 4 pro soon
Don't buy the RG353V/VS because the RG405V is now the best to get.
It actually emulate gamecube pretty well (if you use MMJR)
I’d like to see just one person play a sports game, like QBClub or Madden. Sounds like a lot of tinkering needed to get games to run nicely without crashing.
Can this run 3ds?
Can u play pubg g on the android side??
On my one the save disappears if you quit the game

353V does android games as well, correct? Would rocket league sideswipe work on it? The game natively supports controller inputs. If this game worked on the 353v would be enough for me to buy aside from everything else it can do
I own a 353v and it does not come with google play store on the console. There's a video from retro game corps. that shows a way to install it though If you want to take a look at it.
It’s not powerful enough to run rocket league sideswipe.
Hi restalgia do you recommend the rg552? Thanks
Please do the deep dive!!
Only ever use arkOs so no touch screen was the right move.

Yeah.
