I’ll never get over the fact one Halloween as a kid, my friend’s mom drove us to a “wealthy” neighbourhood and one house was handing out WEBKINZ as their Halloween treat!! I still have that Webkinz pug somewhere at my grandparents house....

I actually know the owners of the ganz company and my mom is their housekeeper. I remember as a kid I'd go with my mom to their house for halloween and give stuff out and they would just have BOXES of webkinz to give out. LOL it was wild

FR! I’m specifically targeting this comment at Disney, putting realistic animations above storytelling is not only a waste of money but also not helpful to the story being memorable. If you want to make stuff hyper realistic, just make it live action. Now people are catching on to the 3D craze, and webkinz was definitely negatively affected by this.
The signature pets were more realistic styled but they were great. But i do agree that i prefer the old style over the reboot style
My Mom worked for GANZ when I was a kid. I remember on the opening day we were on our computer trying to login. It took many attempts to login because the servers were overloaded. I played this for a few years and had so much fun. This is one of those memories that I will never forget.

They also had an "endangered" species series, which I found SO cool and they were really high quality. I remember getting the Dama Gazelle and I think the Red Panda. Gosh I miss Webkinz
omg I only JUST put together what that meant after forgetting about it for 13 years. I thought "endangered" for a webkinz meant that it was a limited stock/one-time-only webkinz... Same. When I was a little kid, I really wanted to one day get the Love Puppy, the Peace Puppy, or the Clover Puppy. (Those 3 were SO rare around that time, and they cost so much money, especially if they came with an unused code.)

I had about 90 physical Webkinz that I collected as a child. I used to ask for them as a present every birthday and Christmas and saved up my money to go buy them at my local beanie bear store because they combined not only amazingly made plushies with sick designs but my love of animals together. I still own about 80 of them after trying to give some away to young family members and my online account has like 150 fully decorated rooms. I'm a children's show animator now but some of my earliest digital drawings were of the Webkinz I found pictures of online. I still check in to my online account every year or so. Just wanted to share in the nostalgia. Thanks for this blast from the past, I kind of feel like drawing some Webkinz now.

I remember when I was 9, I had cancer and when I was in the hospital, I had a few webkinz that stuck with me. I had a tiny green bird webkinz that I lost in the hospital for a few days when I returned home until they later found it. I also had a pink chihuahua I named “Chichi” and I remember when I first got it, I lost the secret code and I’ve never found it but I carried around the chihuahua everywhere with me. I’m cancer free and have been for years now but those were a few webkinz I’ve had back then.
Update: Thank you all for the support! I literally was never expecting this many likes or comments from just a random comment I made on a memory I had and decided to comment about. I did not expect this to blow up like it. I promise I am doing good, I am moving on with my life but anyone who takes the time to read this, I want you to focus on taking care of yourself and living your life to the fullest. 😊

I'm happy to report that Next has gotten.. Slightly better over the last 2 years. There's several more pets and ganes and they've introduced Seasons to keep people coming back every day to work towards some pretty cool rewards. They've added the kinzville acadamy now too, which is nice. Plus whenever I log in there's always quite a few other players running around.

My favorite thing about webkinz was their golden endangered line. I remember being a kid and going to Justice and actually learning what animals were endangered- the golden webkinz stamp was ICONIC. I will forever regret not getting one 😫
As the current curator of an account consisting of 114 plush pets, 2 medallion pets, and the rabbit from the movie hop, it’s nice to see someone talking about this game. My brothers and I have played since day one starting with a chihuahua named rockstar. I’m the only one who really plays it anymore but we still have fun getting nostalgic about our account from time to time. I’m kinda sad Webkinz next ended up being so uncanny and kinda unfun. Like I feel for every positive there’s a negative that contradicts it. Makes sense Arte Fact didn’t think it was worth moving there and just lets Amanda run the new mine.

I played this game on and off for like 2 or 3 years, about 2012 to 2014, I would have been 7 or 8 when I got my first one, I lost my little book of passwords, and quickly forgot about a lot of my favorite kiddie MMO games in short order as a lot of fairly grown up stuff was going on in my life, when I was about 10, maybe 11.

really late to this video, but I remember my sister bringing me to a store to buy 2 webkinz for my newly made account sometime in 2014. So, we were in the back of the store, looking at webkinz when a mother and her teenage daughter came in.
The mom started yelling at the person working the cashier about her daughter shoplifting or something, complaining about the cashier doing something (?). It's very vague in my memory, so I can't remember all the details, but the cashier had a leg brace and said something along the lines of "I got a messed up leg, I can't chase after her yadda yadda yadda".
we were stuck in the back since they were between us and the only visible exit, so me and my sister just stood there watching while clutching the webkinz we were going to buy (a hummingbird and a chihuahua)

I remember like 10-ish years ago, I broke my arm and I needed surgery. A few hours before they took me to the surgery room, they showed me a big box full of webkinz plushies. Most of them were badgers and raccoons, but I wasn’t very interested in them, so I dug deeper into the box, and I found Froggy the tree frog. I absolutely loved him with that neon neon green all over him. I redeemed his tag in-game, and I begged my parents to buy 3 more plushies since.
My grandma accidentally bought Webkinz plushes two bats to be exact for Halloween decorations, and I pointed it out and logged on to Webkinz enter the code, and they worked :D

My dad had heart surgery back in 2010. As you can imagine, it was terrifying, and in the minutes before his surgery, they had to cancel and tell him to come back the next day for it. This happened twice, before he was finally sent to the OR.
My mom and I actually bought him the Nightmare while in recovery to commemorate the surgery and what had happened. We still have the little guy, and he stays near my dad's bed.
I got that one when I was really little because it came out the day before my birthday and my mom told me it would keep nightmares away, I still have him in my bed
I was the first of my friends to get into Webkinz because my aunt wanted to get me one for Christmas when I was six years old. I got a reindeer and named him Vixen. I ended up having over 25 pets by 2012, adopting a shimmer bunny named Hoppie on February 29. My brother had about fifteen of his own. When we weren't playing the vast amount of content in Webkinz, we played little stories with the plush toys and even made little furniture and objects for them.
By the time I adopted Hoppie, Webkinz was putting a lot of premium stuff in places it wasn't (Wshop items, arcade games, etc.) which was kinda dumb as you were already paying about $15 for a stuffed animal with a 1-year subscription. (I didn't know until watching this video they made the base game free a year later) This made me lose interest in Webkinz.
A few years ago, Dollar tree started selling Webkinz plushes when places like Hallmark haven't sold them since 2013. I'm surprised they made some as late as 2019. In fact, I donated my Webkinz plushes in 2015 as I haven't played the game in years and would rather see the plushes make some other kid happy. I did try to log back on a few years ago, but my account was so inactive it said I had to wait or something.
It the same with me I cannot log in anymore even if know I know my password and username.
I actually have it a shot a few years ago and got the same message but I returned like a day later and it worked, all the old shit I created as a kid was still in tact
I had so many webkinz and I was obsessed with this game. Unfortunately I wasn't very good at spelled at 8 years old so I ended up with some great names like a Chihuahua named Chiwawa, a horse named Horsey, and a moose named Canda instead of Canada.

I always found it very weird that they stopped production on the plushes. The plushes were the entire reason I collected a bunch when I was a kid. Like the web game is fun but the plushes were great by themselves. I didn't even know there was a web game until I was old enough to read the tags. It feels so stupid to buy a digital stuffed animal for probably around the same price as a small plush.
If you haven't made videos with your toys "acting" out scenarios as a kid, then you simply haven't lived.
I did the same thing with my mix match of stuffed animals (two of which were webkinz) and recorded them on my DS to share with my family on the big TV in the basement. Those will always be good times to me :) ❤💖

If they find out, they have to terminate the account under US law (COPPA (Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act), which has existed since 1998, prevents data collection on any person under 13 without explicit parental consent, hence why most websites that have account creation require you to be over 13, and verify by asking you to enter your birthdate).

I actually Beta tested the new Webkinz and it was called "Next" - not sure why the name didn't follow. The developers said they'd been working on it for three years - I guess when they realized Flash would not be supported by web browsers. Personally I think they released it way too early and I'm assuming they wanted to get in for both the ending of Flash and the beginning of Christmas. I also don't know why the Kinzville area was so unpopulated when you visited - it seems to be swarming with players now, but I totally get what you are saying. Over all the review was very accurate and pointed out a lot of flaws in both versions, and I appreciated it. I hope the developers will see this and tweak the Classic app a bit. Many of us are begging for it to go into the windowed mode so it doesn't occupy the whole screen. Webkinz Next needs a lot of work, but I know they are busy making it better.

The excitement you had is the same I had throughout the whole video! I remember my first Webkinz was a red eyed tree frog. I named him froggy and he had a wizard themed room. I collected around 50 plushies and still have all of them. I don't remember where all of my trading cards are, though. The nostalgia unlocked in my brain is happy!!!

one of my friends plays webkinz religiously, like she collects the plushes and everything. she keeps sending me the worst screenshots of the new game to torture me since i'm a 3D modeler/animator/aspiring game designer. it's just.... so bad. weird shadows, no shadows, flat planes with textures slapped on that are VERY CLEARLY JUST FLAT PLANES WHY CAN I SEE WHERE THE SKYBOX STARTS THE FEW BUMP MAPS THAT ARE EVEN PRESENT LOOK AWFUL

Another broken feature: the phone & visiting friends. Added a friend to show her my rooms, spent a few minutes yelling at each other to turn on your phone, only to find out it's been broken for years. Webkinz classic is still the shit though, I loved it back in 2005-2009 as a kid and now I love it again in my 20s.
oh also the quick tournaments in the arcade, I have an issue of it breaking and saying I'm entered in tournaments I'm not entered in and it never going back.

nearly every day when I was in elementary school, I’d come home and walk inside only to see my mom in the office playing the tile towers or pizza palace games on webkinz on our family computer. she was crazy good at both of them and my brother and I would sit with her and watch her play for hours. she honestly used the webkinz website more than me or my brother ever did haha
My mom would do this too! She started playing Cash Cow almost daily after I stopped using my account, and i remember checking in on it after a few months to find she had racked me up actual millions in kinzcash 💀

This is such a wholesome video. I was obsessed with Webkinz as a kid and still own all 50 or so. I don't collect anymore, but one I'm still actively hunting down is the Magic W Pup. It was made for the 10 year anniversary of the game, but by then my family had hit a rough patch, so my parents didn't want to splurge on it. As a kid, I was devastated. They're super rare, but I hope one day I'll be able to find one that isn't hundreds of dollars. Only then will I consider my collection complete.

I took a piece of paper to the store and looked at all the tags and copied them down with a pen.
@@top_herbus69 how? The stores around me as a kid that had Webkinz their tags were in plastic covers so ya couldn't just look at the tags.
@@PearlJam1974 I think other kids took off the plastic and used the codes because when I got home most of them were invalid.
@@top_herbus69 dang, I remember all the videos for "free" codes and all of them were invalid by the time I got to them.
The codes should have been only activated upon purchase. that would have helped
