I have a 2014 freightliner and locked myself out at a delivery. Another driver pulled up with a freightliner and asked him if he can try to open my door with his key. He was able to open it no problem! At the same time it's a little scary to think anyone can open my door while I'm sleeping in the cab.
Ive done it.. all tools inside the van with my keys wallet phone & a running engine.. broke the antenna off and bent it to create a lockout pole & used a stick off a tree to pry the door enough to stick the antenna in

They are not universal there is actually a very low chance that a key has cuts similar enough to open yours you got very lucky
