I had to pick up our guest room yesterday - it is our clutter catch. I started to just walk away and shut the door and then I remembered your speed clean method. So I set my timer for 8 minutes and told myself to just start. In just 8 minutes it looked so much better!
I used this method on my husband last January. I took all of his clothes out of the closet. He has a laundry service at work but for some reason needed 45 crap T-shirts for doing chores around the house 🤷. I put them all in a pile and said I'm holding up a shirt you have 5 seconds to say keep or toss or I'm tossing it. He narrowed it down to 20. I said not good enough. We're doing it again. We got it down to 10. I said you can keep 5. He looked at me like I grew a second head lol. But he did it! I gave him a 5 item limit in each category. Like jeans, hoodies and such. He started out with using almost the whole closet. Forcing me to keep my clothes in the dresser. Now I can hang up my puny amount of clothes and we still have extra space in the closet and in the dresser. I keep him on a 5 limit diet. For every item that comes in one has to leave. Even socks and underwear. It has cut laundry down from 6 loads a week to 3 and it's just the 2 of us! He tried pulling it with me and I'm like show me more than 5 pairs of jeans. He found 2. I have a good pair for every day and a crap pair for chores. Then I went through every category. He's like you seriously have nothing except gym clothes. He left that conversation quickly lol. My mother always told me to just put ten things away. Once I get to that point, I'm on a roll and I usually just keep going. But saying "ten things" doesn't sound intimidating, so I can always do it!
