How to Fix a Stretched Out Neckline [Sewing a Dart]

  • Disclaimer: I'm not a professionally trained seamstress.
I'm so happy I was able to fix this shirt and make it wearable again! It had been stretched out from washing it so many times and hanging it out to dry. Apparently, I have worn this shirt a lot (although it has been in the back of my closet for a few months because of this issue). Anyways, I'm all about taking care of my clothes and I didn't want to get rid of a shirt that could be so easily fixed!
I hope this helps and I encourage you to experiment and practice sewing with your old clothes. If you don't wear it or are planning to get rid of the item, it could be could practice (and you don't have to stress so much about messing up). :)

Thank you for making this video. I have quite a few shirts with the neckline too low. I just finished fixing one with a back dart, and it looks great. Now I can wear my shirt out of the house. I will fix the rest of my shirts now. Other videos showed removing the sleeves, which scared the heck out of me. I'm not very good a sewing, and hate to ruin my clothes because I can't get the sleeves back on.

Thank you for this - I have a t-shirt with a lovely sweetheart neckline at the front but it's just that little bit too big. This is just the fix I was looking for!

Nice! Can I make a dart in the front of the shirt? I have one that seems fine in the back but not the front.

I'm not sure how I got here, but wow you're so cute. I feel like I could get into sewing now... this guide looks very easy to follow even with my mind getting distracted.
