  • New talented heroes was the hot thing during Monarch, Tales of Aria, and Uprising. With their glory they brought challenges.

    i think a water talented hero would be an inserting concept, like it puts X amount of "rust" counters on equipment and if the equipment has y amount, it gets -1 defense or something like that

    They should just make a mechanologist weapon that also gives you a talent like absolutely nothing could go wrong by giving the mechanologist more toys

    Such an important discussion. I started in ToA and talents were all the rave. They proved to be insanely powerful and i remember having discussions about it from the beginning because it felt like they were just mathematically more powerful due to access to card pools. I believe they have to find something to give non talented classes to make up for it, as otherwise it's very hard to balance.

    There’s two sides of having talents: one being starvo. The other being boltyn.

      @@ValariaxSword that’s completely true. Boltyn is very much so viable and good. However starvo can level a sky scamper in comparison

    I think heroes with talents should have weaker abilities that only really work well with their talent cards. Vynnset is a great example of this imo. She isn't so insulated that she can only play shadow cards, but her hero ability works best when your deck has a lot of talent cards.
    Tangentially related, I wish that there were more classless talent cards. That way they could print something like a Light Ranger without having to have a whole set of support for that talent + class combo. But currently there are only a handful of classless talent cards (outside of ToA) that are playable.

      I like having more generic talent cards. Definitely like the idea of a Light Ranger.

    Man, all this makes me think is that it must be really hard to keep this game balanced... 😂 Thry do such a good job the way it is, but man, making a game must be hard.

    It does feel like LSS is playing it safe with card development and balancing these days and that is most likely why they haven’t revisited talents. If they are set on “powering down” new cards and balancing, I can see how the talented hero’s and cards that currently exist might make design of new “talented” cards a bit of a minefield. Personally I prefer the way that LSS used to design cards in the Mon and tales era. There’s always the ban and suspended list that can be used to balance the game and if that doesn’t balance it, the LL system will come into effect. Safe is fine, but greatness comes with risks

    • @mastersetmadness
      @mastersetmadness  Před 9 měsíci +2

      Gotta shoot for greatness! I'd be okay with a little more risk in the new cards.

    • @mastersetmadness
      @mastersetmadness  Před 9 měsíci

      I'd almost rather just see more heroes for the current talents, instead of new talents.

  • @WayOfHaQodesh
    @WayOfHaQodesh Před 8 měsíci +1

    If love to see more talented heroes using is talents and a few more talents maybe 1 new per 1-2 years, and then continue to put out maybe 50 percent talented heroes vs 50 percent our classed. I still believe they could make a type up subclass card that only non talented heroes could use. Or effectively bar them from using generics like all Boost mechanologist players suffered since Dash day one. Why did we get one singular tiny card pool for ages, and couldn't even effectively use the generic pool? Dunno, but I digress. The point of mentioning that though, is it proved that Dash could still be successful with an extremely nerfed, or handicapped card pool. Talented heroes were the opposite extreme, Starvo having like 7 some card pools! Nuts! And absolutely broken. Talented heroes I feel either have to have a very weak heroes hero ability in their card, (but who wants that, that ain't no fun...) to balance out the increased card pool access. Or... Make it so they are heavily incentivised to play with talented cards, much like some commented on with Vynnset. They can make card pools kind of like royal, that only non talented heroes could use, kinda like a "purist" card pool, for example some warrior card, that only a pure warrior, like Dorinthea or Cassai could use, but not Boltyn, and maybe make them slightly more powerful. Otherwise, you could try implement some new rules restrictions on talented heroes to limit their card pool deck building restrictions, but that can get messy, especially after 4 years of the game being out. It ain't an easy fix, but purely mathematically, having access to more card pools will always be more advantageous and, the more cards that get printed will only exacerbate this problem and the guild between talented and non talented heroes. I really hope to hear something about this from LSS soon as leaving us all in the dark isn't really the best either... They his solve this though I think, or might be the loss of many players.

    I really miss talents. I think going talent less made sense for both Metrix and the Pits lore wise, but I think it is a bit unfortunate not seeing that part of FaBs design in such a long time. As it appears to be for now, the Arena in Heavy Hitters is going to be talentless aswell. it's a setting that is not tied to one region, so lore wise it makes sense to have no talent. But 3 draft sets in a row with no talented hero? That's a shame in my book.

    • @mastersetmadness
      @mastersetmadness  Před 9 měsíci +1

      An arena does seems like a good place to mix up people from different regions and talents to me. Developing the draft format with talents is a challenge, and I'm sure one of the reasons they've held off on them for a bit.
