The tying goal pass is so forward thinking and slick. Bounce a rolling puck of the boards and immediately direct it backhand through your legs. It’s like he planned it years ahead.

The Colorado Avalanche didn’t quit when things looked bleak. Bednar made the right call to pull Kuemper early. He knew this was the only way to give the team a puncher’s chance to win. Francouz came up huge tonight. He delivered when the team needed him. After the disastrous second half of the first period, the Avs fought back. From the second period to overtime, the team regrouped and played two-way hockey. They outshot the Leafs 51 to 27. The Avs refused to take their foot off the pedal as they showed urgency. They were well aware that the franchise home winning streak record was on the line (11 straight home wins). The team remained disciplined by taking only 2 penalties. This was the hardest fought win by the Avs this season. They showed a lot of grit, determination and spirit. The first line came through again. Avs fans can only hope that this production will be the new norm.

It was a very hard fought win by my second favourite team in the NHL. I was hoping both teams would had played two-way hockey with similar discipline, energy and dogged determination for a full 60 minutes. What the Leafs gave in the first period was not sustained and waned off well into the late stages of the second period where the Avs. surged and found new life, which they have a propensity and proclivity for mustering. That being said, I hate to keep flogging a dead horse but for the Leafs this has been a consistent pattern in their play for the past decade at least. Being up on an opposing team by 3 goals in three games this season is the inevitable case in point people are beckoned towards. Alas, ever since I endowed my ultimate fandom to the Leafs as my primary Hockey club back in 2016 I began to realize with my own eyes that this franchise is cursed mentally. Climaxing in a painfully obvious way whenever they reach the playoffs. I can only dream, hope and pray that they will bury their demons once and for all and hoist Lord Stanley's cup to bring glory back to this franchise for which it so longingly and desperately needs. When they do, and I know they will. The Avs. will then have my full support and approval to win it again themselves.

Tough game to lose being up 4-1 for the third time this season again. Some of it had to do with Covid protocols and irregular inconsistent game scheduling, but they still had no excuse to lose this game. Silver lining for them is that they got the point in large part due to Campbell standing on his head for the whole game with an undoubtedly high ranking save of the year candidate dubbed unofficially as the Souperman. Also a big Congratulations to the Avs. on their franchise setting record of 11 straight home wins.

Colorados MO for the rest of the season moving forward needs to be team defense, High IQ hockey and getting good goaltending, and to keep humming along on offense. The dump in forcheck needs to continue improving to extend and get easy forward possessions when certain teams play trap against their speed and skating through the neutral zone, give them credit tonight though it was all work to get this one done. Franky great stuff to come in cold tonight and give them the chance they needed and for the team to dig in in front of him for the most part. There's apart of me that knows darcy still isn't there yet and if we can get it out of him it can take colorado to another level. I wonder about Parkila coaching the goaltenders and think it's weird that after varly has been gone why they kept him, as it was varlys guy, but then look how much better varly got in the island after a slow down to his career with colorado, and a resurgence with Berry Trotz's goalie guy. Investing in a truly proven goaltender coach to help out Kemps and franky continued ascension could be crucial for this team. I just have not seen darcy continue to get significantly better and round into game breaker Keumper, and part of that is a goaltender coach who can't help them reach their full potential in Parkila. Think about it, what do we actually know about Parkila besides that when varly was struggling in colorado he wanted to go back to someone that helped mentor him when he was younger. but besides that he was never considered for any team as a goaltending coach ever, and correct me if I'm wrong but he was not even doing goaltending coaching when varly had the team contact him. Would be smart to invest in your goaltenders with a proven track record guy of the likes of mitch corn, Ian Clark, or jason Muzzatti. Look at how good a guy like freddy has been this season while working with Jason Muzzatti in carolina.

When you are playing with different players on the first and second lines and your team is way ahead, you don't notice but when it comes to defending a game when it's on the line, your positioning and aware ness of your line mates are not familiar and you make mistakes. I still think that the Leafs can't play under pressure defensively especially when they were way ahead. Reminded me of the playoffs playing Boston with Reimer in goal

Idk, defense was atrocious in the first period. Let Toronto skate around the net with the puck all period. Left him out to dry on the kerfoot goal. That's on the guys in front of Kuemper. Plus Matthews is a sniper, can't give him clean looks in front like that. Defensive zone and transition play need to be a lot better, at least consistently for 3 periods instead of just 1 or 2. Lots of bad/dumb penalties being taken lately in these games too. Avs need to clean up that crap. Then we'll see if the goaltending holds up but as of now, not about to blame the goaltending

It's funny that so many people keep saying "it was 4-1." Yes it was but people are making it sound like it was 4-1 with 5 minutes left in the 3rd against a really bad team. Colorado is 1 of the best teams in the league, they scored no more then 2 in any 1 period and they never stopped coming at them. It also helps having fans in the crowd cheering them on. Toronto scored 3 in the first including 2 goals 40 seconds apart. I now see what they're doing and it's not the players fault. Once they get a big enough lead, they're being told to forget about offense and work together on defense to keep the other team at bay. The problem is, Toronto is an offensive team, not a defense only team. Instead of trying to protect the lead they have they have to continue getting goals. I don't know if this is Dubas or who's telling them to do what they're doing but it doesn't work, clearly. It's not that they choked but rather are told to do this but again, it doesn't work and it hasn't for years. Campbell is amazing but with to many so called defensive players in front of him, it's blocking his view to much and therefore he can't see the play. Both teams played well in this game. Atleast it was alot closer then 8-3.
