I died like 200+ times to this boss. I can dodge all of her attacks except the waterfowl dance.
Mine capped at 130 after 3 days, i finally fed up and just mimic tear then stun locked her to death.
If you're still playing, you don't have to dodge it entirely! There are many alternatives to deal with, for example shield ashes like vow of the indomitable that let you i-frame completely through the first part of the attack
What @SolitasRuisu said, alternatively, chuck a freezing pot at her when she jumps into the air. I will knock her down and cancel waterfowl dance.
So proud of her for doing this solo, props to her for also not absolutely abusing the ash of war. She did use it a lot to be fair but she also mixed in jump attacks and some light attacks here and there. For not considering herself a gamer, this EASILY puts her amongst the best gamers in hololive for me.
I've stated this again and again. IRyS' ability to pick up games insanely quickly and get a hold of mechanics is ABSURD. It's downright scary how good her perseverance is.
@@UmbreonMoon Don't be silly, anyone who played any game long enough will develop a better understanding about the game mechanics as well as muscle memory if you fight the same boss over and over again. I'm not hating, it's just applicable to anyone. Take other vtubers who played Elden ring for example (e.g. Botan vs Maliketh and Ina vs Astel after numerous tries they memorized the boss patterns very well).
My opinion of her completely changed during the Super Mario competition.

@@Arrmorant I think they meant she picked it up faster relative to other members. Only Reine and Botan were faster than IRyS to beat Malenia, and other members took a few streams to beat her. I remember it took Calli about two 12 hour streams to beat Malenia.

Rule Number 1 of fighting Melenia: You're gonna die, a lot, so accept it now and avoid frustration.
Rule Number 2 of fighting Melania: You are always in range of Waterfowl Dance.
1:47 This is literally the whole community reaction when they first fight Malenia.
Pre patch 1.06 you literally can’t completely dodge this normally at point blank range. You would need a very specific technique to dodge it without taking any damage but it’s ridiculously hard to learn, basically impossible if you just play the game casually.
Post patch 1.06 they buffed dodge distance for light roll opened up a new technique to dodge it. Simply roll thrice to the back to dodge the first flurry, the second and third can be dodge normally. This one is way easier to learn for any players.
Ohhh, it has to be light roll, I was doing this medium wondering why it never worked. Oh well, beat her in the end, abused the Dark Moon Greatsword.
Damn, Irys's last run was legit. She had normal Malenia's pattern down pat.
