This final home game definitely seemed to be manufactured! Rigged? First, Adelaide played without the Texan. 15 Love! Then the Adelaide team started to play well below their best! Not 'breaking a leg', as they say (or tanking.) 30 Love! The commentators started to emphasize the 20 point win scenario for West Coast! That is, for Melbourne to be eliminated. Alarm bells now rang even more loudly for me .... the score line was forever fluctuating between 20 and 29 points! WHY? Adelaide - were they really trying? After all, they are currently the FLAG FAVOURITES at $3.25! And West Coast ... 50 to 1. That is -rough as GUTS! I mean really ROUGH! But it means nothing over there in the Wild West. Suddenly, 40 Love. You guessed it - the outsider, West Coast, wins! Wow!! Breaking news ... Melbourne eliminated! Sorry, gone Dees!! And no Steward's Inquiry here. In a word ... something 'Stank to High Heaven' in the west that night! I mean, a horribly vile smell over Perth, that no one should have missed. A Tanked Game!! Well, game over for Melbourne, that's for sure. In a word I thought - totally RIGGED! My Dream had turned rapidly into a Nightmare..... (And if Adelaide win the First Preliminary Final easily, protests should be heard all over Australia. And if they then win The Flag in 2017, do not forget all this! - Do NOT!!! Just do not forgive, or forget. The said Stink will get so bad that even the AFL cannot ignore it!

I mean you're not wrong westozzy, but do consider that the absence of max gawn and many of their other guns for a lot of the season did hurt a lot. The fact that west coast overtook Melbourne by single figures means that any small factor throughout the season would warrant suggesting there could be good and bad fortune. You can say they worked as hard as each other, but you can not say without doubt that west coast worked harder. Plus your comparison of Brisbane and Adelaide is faulty and you know it.

Okay, i will admit i had forgotten about good old Natinui. I must say, both melbourne and west coast defeated 4 teams in the current top 8. Melbourne may have beaten west coast by a small margin away from home but i must say that even that doesn't give a clear indication of overall performance. Also, in all honesty for a team like melbourne to blow their chances in the final round against a team like collingwood is quite poor. However, i will not say that either team has done better or worse as it is quite evident that both finished with 48 points, a similar percentage, and overall a fairly similar track record. In saying that, i am quite torn about whether i am happy or disappointed that melbourne didn't make the eight. Part of me loves that they were on the improve, part of me loves that only 3 Victorian teams made the finals.

Had he played all this year WC would probably be a lot higher that 8th going into the finals. But im not talking about what ifs. WC won the right to play finals this year and thats that.
