Some things that people are pointing out that I should have mentioned: - Many skateboard deck brands come from a select few wood shops so comparing the brands that distribute the wood to the deck brands would have been a fairer comparison - e.g. DLXSF makes Real, Krooked and Antihero decks - There are work arounds to the problem I mentioned with Venture Trucks such as using a ratchet skate tool so my ranking for them was unfair I'm enjoying your comments with your experiences with these brands as well as any other brands I didn't mention, keep them coming :)
Honestly venture trucks are ass even without ur personal problems with them. Skated them twice and they broke within months while i've never broken any other trucks.
@@valentinhartmann5465 yes but a company can still branch out into different thing being clothes and that company’s logo being on those clothes makes it a clothing brand aswell as a skateboard magazine

solid video, just want to point out that the majority of skate deck brands come from only a few woodshops. most popular brands use just three woodshops: ps stix, bbs, and dwindle. for example almost and santa cruz are both run out of dwindle, so they use the exact same wood, just with different graphics. so when it comes to decks you could basically just compare different woodshops instead of the brands themselves. cheers

On the Ventures thing: When I was younger nobody I knew had a skate tool. we had basic tools like wrenches and stuff. I started skating again after a ten year break (or even couple of more) and I was like "what's that?" when I saw the T shaped skate tool. I live in Finland, so maybe they weren't so common then and it was the era before CZcams.
8:27 honestly the romero model is probably my least favorite Emerica shoe because of that, the figgy's were good but the provost were my favorite. The ones I got had a big sole and lasted a really long time
Very interesting, you should do a second video puting more brands in the tier list. I recommend you Etnies Marana x Michelin shoe's, some people says that are the best skate shoes ever made.
I have ventures and i know the thing with the wide hanger. but you can get the front bolts tight enough with a regular tool if you tighten the screws on the grip side. but if you have a slimmer skate tool like a ratchet one or an extra tool to pinch the nut with it works just fine. So overall i still love them and they are just as good as indies/thunders in my opinion :)
The three truck brands mentioned in this video I have tried I prefer thunders and independents venture trucks are much heavier and make your wheelbase longer giving it a hefty pop Thunders give you a longer wheelbase but are lighter but have a longer wheelbase giving it a light pop but more time to hit the ground Independents have a shorter wheelbase but are heavy giving it a pop in the middle of thunders and ventures the board hits the ground like a Thunder mid but is heavy like a venture I prefer independents on smaller boards and I prefer thunders on a bigger board.
Jesus Christ don’t take everything so serious, I was only trying to make a point that he makes better videos than others, not specifically Braille, just big skate channels in general and I think it’s surprising that his videos are at this level with only 20k subs or so. Sorry I offended you with a poor example
Would you recommend trying out new decks or stick with old deck companies? I ride a 7.75 krooked and I'm trying to switch up to 8. I found this very cool looking deck at my local skate shop for 120aud. Not sure if imma buy it, or just buy another krooked deck. Thanks for your advice!
I would say it kind of depends. For example, the change in terms of size might take some serious getting used to (or be a great comfortable change). And if the concave is much steeper, it might not feel the same too. So basically, if you change too many of these factors in one go, it might not feel right at home. However, I've experimented a lot with different boards and would absolutely say it is worth it. With an 8" you can also still use your 7.75" trucks, which makes it somewhat more affordable. I've tried a 7.6", a 8", a 8.5" and 8.45" and 8.25" size deck now. And must say I probably feel most at home on a 8.25" for tricks and the 8.45" for cruising around. I would have never known had I not tried the various decks. Best of luck! Ahh one last thing, quite a few brands stick to their signature board shapes or concaves. So it can be useful to change deck size within a brand you already prefer indeed. Sometimes boards come from the same woodshop and have pretty much the same shape and concave, despite being a different brand. So it could be worth researching that, if need be. At the end of the day, I'd say you can probably get used to a different deck fairly easily.
Trying different decks is fine, not too much of a difference between them though if you find a shape you really like just stick with that, I'd definitely recommend experimenting though with different sizes and brands at first :)
Glad you enjoyed, Ventures are good quality trucks, just didn't like how I couldn't take it off with a normal skate tool without taking the whole thing apart haha, I'm sure there's other tools you could use
I'm riding Ventures Trucks now for years and I don't have you're problems with them. Actualy I Love them they basicly Last for ever. And are Just really nice
that thing with venture trucks happened to my Fury trucks, but mine are easier to remove, so i don't have to reach suck extreme measures (maybe thats how all trucks are...?) you can use a wrench or something to hold it in place while unscrewing the hardware... will that work?
There’s independent mids now and they also got independent hollows which are a tad bit lighter then stander indies also if you didn’t know thunder and venture trucks are both DLX which is their distributor that means they are basically the same truck just different branding fun fact in case you didn’t know

I use to be really picky about my gear, but now that I'm old (30) and have been blessed with a good job I have been trying out all kinds of new things. I usually have 3 different setups that I use for specific styles of skating. The problem with all that is I'm having a disease called "gear madness." I'm always tinkering with different companies like I'm going to find the setup thats going to be 100% perfect. For example I found that a mellow deck like my 8.125 flip with 54mm ricta slims (super square wheels.) And Ace AF-1 trucks are perfect for ledges. And my 8.5 steep hockey deck goes perfect with a low truck like my Thunder titanium trucks and 51mm bones STF. Mellow boards are better with higher trucks like ace or Indy. Steep boards are better with low trucks like thunder or venture lows. It's kind of a balancing act I suppose.
