      Why wait for GW, when we can do it ourselves!
      Pick a realm, used the "Make you own Free City" generator (link here: www.warhammer-community.com/2017/09/26/make-your-own-free-city-the-easy-way-sep26gw-homepage-post-4/)
      If you want to give your original city it's own allegiance/command abilities, an idea that you can use is how in 40k they have Successor Chapters for creating your own Space Marie Chapter.
      Make a city of your own and just use the abilities of one of the pre-existing Cities in the Battletome that best fit your City's tactics/play-style.
      The rest is picking which models fit your lore best, paint them in the colours of your new city and go forth onto glory.

    I really don't understand why they only have cities from Aqshy and Ghyran and none from Ghur like the city of Excelsis and Glymmsforge in Shyish. Those two cities are more fleshed out than some of the ones in the battle tome. They even have Stormcasts assigned to them with the Knights Excelsior and Anvils of Heldenhammer respectively.

      @GecktronLP Před 4 lety +4

      Hammerhal, Phoenicium, the living City and Greywater Fastness are from the Season of War campaign which was set in Ghyran. They kept them since a lot of the early player who joined the campaign back then are invested into them. The other 3 were introduced in the Firestorm campaign which was set in Aqshy. They had to keep them since some players already build armies for these cities.
      GW had to balance keeping old stuff and not having too many options as they would have end up pretty samey.

  • @Loveless387

    I love how this book lets me really play with the lore of each faction. Like right now I'm working on a most Aelf city, but with focus on the Old Dark Elf and Wood Elf models. The idea is they are lead by a dreadlord born of a Wanderer and Darkling, yet her actions earned respect of the other races, so the Darkling under her fall in line as it is new for them to be respected amongst the other races. This has lead to a more honorable group, who hate High Elf factions as they hold ancient grudges that cause them to distrust this Dreadlord. The feeling however is mutual, so while its mostly an Aelf army with bits of Free Guild and Dispossed in there for flavor, there are no Phoenix Guard or other High Elf factions as they are barred from the town over a grudge. This is in spite of the fact that the city is in Chamon, so faces constant battle and strife, yet they would turn away potential allies owing to a long standing grudge

    With the new Cities of Sigmar release I’d not love to see the same for Chaos. Hear me out. The Slaves to Darkness need a new Battletome, we now also have Warbands that expand the flavours and possibly fighting styles of the mortals of Chaos aaaaand the Chaos Dwarfs need a home (in my opinion).
    Make the new Slaves to Darkness Battletome (wait for it) “Dreadholds of Chaos”. Basically the Cities of Sigmar but Chaos and not aligned to a particular Chaos God and not Beasts of Chaos.
    For example there could be a Dreadhold that houses the Iron Golems (Warband) that work alongside Chaos Dwarfs and stable some of the most deadly Knights of Chaos. The Dreadhold forge some of the finest armour and weapons for the Armies of Chaos.
    OR
    A Dreadhold that is as nomadic as the Untamedbeasts, Marauders and captured beasts that inhabit its Yurts from time to time. The possibilities could be fun and Archaon could be the “God” that they “worship”.
    RANT OVER

    Cities is a really cool new expansion that kinda makes a good reason for why Age of Sigmar was needed to replace the old world.
    In whf, the dwarves hated the elves and largely kept to themselves. High elves were high and mighty and made it clear to the other races. Overall, the races were just so horribly stagnant and secluded that the world was limited in a lot of ways.
    With Cities though, we get to see all the elves living and working together, alongside humans and dwarves while still being able to work with sylvaneth, stormcast and KO. It feels like a real place that can evolve and the races don’t feel so stagnant. Dwarves aren’t almost exclusively segregated to mountains and caves, we can see them in the living city.
    Honestly, I think CoS does a good job at showing how AoS managed to evolve the world lore wise. Races aren’t so rigid and stagnant and are allowed to behave like a real people.

      @highmarshalhelbrecht4715 Před 4 lety +2

      If all of the races become multicultural, because lets face it thats what you are talking about here, what sets each army apart, every one would be playing cities of sigmar, no variation,linear boring.
      God bless GW for bringing back the old world.
