Not sure how it looked in real life, but on the video the turn signal was almost invisible after you turned off the wink... I do agree that wink looks funny, but has a lot better visibility tho
I'm pretty sure that, that "wink" effect is there so the turn signal is more visible, i may be wrong though.

Yea, I saw that, I was really confused, and still am, why would he disable the *winking* if it's for his safety. Oh well, its his car. Also, why would car manufacturers have an option for that.
It’s there because some worry wort thought that if the DRL stayed on while the turn signal was running, other drivers wouldn’t see it. I’m yet to see any study proving that though, and i think it’s annoying so I’m turning that off on mine as well.

It is exactly for that reason. So now basically he's made it a lot harder for oncoming drivers to see what he wants to do (turn left or right). So may drivers seem to forget car indicators are to provide other drivers information not for the driver them selves.
If you can’t see the amber flashing you’re blind and shouldn’t be on the road
He just said it will be harder to see, not impossible, but there is people who maybe won’t see and as you said should maybe not be on the road, but they are and you can’t control this, and worse, some of them without insurance ! So make light harder to see to make your car nicer won’t help

Thanks for sharing, can i ask you another question about my rs3, i juar notice that my rs3 when left indicator light turn on, my right day time running light also blink， so everytime my left turn signal light blink yellow, my right daytime running light blink white. @EddieX , I couldn't see on the VAG-COM codes list if there is a way to enable Bluetooth AUDIO on my AMI. Bluetooth ONLY works with phone calls; not audio. So annoying. I have 2013 A5 Premium with Audi Concert head unit. Is there a way to enable BT audio?

Ok so buy the cable, download the software and you plug it in. Where do we download it and do we have to pay for anything on the website for the download?
VCDS software itself is free from Ross-Tech.com. There you can also buy the interfaces that have built in activation codes to unlock the softwares full potential. $199 for 3 VINs, $299 for 10 VINs, and I can't remember how much unlimited VINs are. They have the HEX-V2 that is USB connected, and the more expensive HEX-NET, a wireless alternative.

It should not because the only thing your doing is changing a function/command for the computer to do. You can always change it back.

The wink not only lets your turn signal light stand out more, but the DRL shutting off draws added attention to your car. So for safety reasons, it's better to leave it active. But people today are so stupid and inattentive that either way you're still probably going to get hit. Years ago a guy I worked with was a volunteer fireman on Long Island. Their company got delivery of a new fire truck one winter. The guys on the crew wanted to give it a road test so they took it out after sun down and some idiot ran into them. When the police questioned the car driver, he said he didn't see the truck. The cop then asked the fireman who was driving if he had the axillary lights on while he was driving. He said yes so the cop asked him to turn on what he had on. When he did it practically turned night into day. The cop said to the driver, "You didn't see that!?" Then wrote a few extra tickets for bad driving.

They use Mercedes STAR software. It costs around 30,000 pounds a year though for the licence.

VCDS is "free" but buying the cable acts as the 'key' to fully unlock the software.

LodgedAbyss definitely not accurate but could very well be dealer dependent. I have had my codes in for 8 years and visited 2 different dealers for service and they have never flashed it.

There is a REASON WY CAR MAKES THAT "WINK". Try to see in other dudes car when they go with full lights , do they turn on their indicator or not. And you will see that you can't see sh@#$. And now you are standing and waiting till that car passes you so you know if you can finally make that turn.

Ok, BEFORE you do anything. Do not do what this guy just did! When you enter vcds. YOU MUST copy the current coding. If you change one thing it's not so bad, if you change a bunch of things and you fuck up your car you're going to regret it. Open vcds yes, left side of screen, on the right side open a notepad, and every step, tick box, byte, bit etc you go to and or change .. put this in the document.. before and after coding. EVERY step you click or alter. It'll be extremely frustrating, never mind expensive to get Audi to repair your mistake. This guy went in, balls deep and never explained anything here, this is a seriously bad content supplier. Very stupid.
Carista is cheaper and does 90% of things VAG-COM can do.
