The smaller diameter logs, the compact size and it's location combine to make this a really wonderful little cabin.
The gutter also gives you the opportunity to collect rainwater should you choose to do so.

Butt n Pass log cabins, the easiest and strongest cabins to make. If you pull up the metal roof and use 2x6's to build a box, you can insulate, deck and put the steel roof back on and your insulation will go way up. With that size of cabin your wood burning will go way down. Thanks for sharing. Best Wishes and Blessings. Keith Noneya

Love the design, for many reasons. Mainly the amount of longest logs are a fraction, and coupled with a stone and clay fireplace/chimney the number of lengthy logs goes down even more.
A great design for a single person to build a much bigger cabin then they would otherwise be able manage before the snow flies.
The single slanted ceiling design is a brilliant layout, considering what it is used for; the bunk being placed at the lowest point in the ceiling.
The only change I would make is a stone and clay fireplace, at the lowest point if the ceiling(to minimise chimney height), and the bunk would be a loft at the highest point. This will give you a few extra hours length in sleep time, possibly putting you at 8hrs, without having to fill the stove to it's max to maximise burn time. Avoiding those super hot, first few hours at bed time and just after. You stay off the ground and up in the trapped warm air near the ceiling. (Look into carbon monoxide , and venting toxic gases)
Love the vid, a wonderfully designed cabin👌

august Thanks so much. Those large over hangs are what protect the logs.

Agree 100% I just watched another recent video that had 4' overhangs on a pretty big house and the guy was shooting the video standing outside the house, totally dry ! Pretty cool and a good idea !
