Are MU being used widely in China, or only in special projects? What is the typical delay and jitter introduced with SMV? Some manufactures prefer using their IEDs directly in field near CTs and VT despite the reduction of IED life expectancy. What´s your point of view, when must MU be used?

hi my friend, happy to see your comment. Sorry for the delay, I'm quite busy recently and no time to CZcams. Where are you from? Yes, MU is widely used in smart substation in China. and our jitter must smaller than 10μs. Our sampling rate to relay is 80 point per cycle so the interval time of frame must in 250μs±10μs. What's the specified delay and jitter in your country? Is there any different between us? I agree with MU on site is a choice.

I have never worked with Merging Units, but have a series of questions that perhaps you can help me to clarify.
      1) Operating at 60Hz to maintain 80 points per cycle sample-rate should be 4.8kHz with a cyclical transmition time of 208us, correct?
      2) Each IED must have 4 communication ethernet ports, 2 for Goose messages and 2 for Sampled Values?
      3) How complex is the infrastructure of ethernet networks, what type of redundancy is used, PRP?
