I went from riding a KLR650 to riding a little TW200 when he said 125ccs I almost spat my drink out that he was riding something even smaller than me. lol

I just got into motorcycles myself and have been riding for about a year, would love to see you take it on and climb up to the bigger bikes. Don't get me wrong your guys car content is absolutely brilliant but throwing in some motorcycling every now and again would just be the cherry on top.

Pinlock is almost mandatory for cold and wet weather. why open your shield to rain and cold air when you don't have to? i'm all snug with my thermal balaclava and all the vents shut, opening the face shield just makes my nose cold and eyes water.

I don't think anyone will have the right licence for that, and to get one is 4 figures.

@@chickeyy1792 I don't think I paid near £1'000 to get my UK car licence. Less than 20 lessons, maybe as little as 12-13 at £20 ish each, and sitting the written and practical portions of the test were less than £100 each from what I can recall, could be quite significantly less than that too but I can't remember the exact values.
I'd imagine the first level motorbike licence in the UK would be similarly 'affordable'.
I think HGV licence levels cost something like £2'000-3'000 each, and an artic licence is third in a sequence you have to go through, so quite a lot more expensive than it is for Alex to get a car and motorbike licence in the UK at least.
I know what you mean though, like Germany where a minimum number of lessons are required on all types of roads etc to get a licence, so spending less than 1'000 euros on lessons is impossible.

On a more real world note - I had a motorbike only, no car, for 9 straight years and in that time I used public transport less than 5 times.
With the use of a tank bag it was great for general purpose commuting, going to work, visiting friends etc and I could always carry a backpack worth of stuff in front of me, like change of clothes if it was raining or takeaway after going through a drivethrough.
If I needed more, like grocery shopping I'd throw on the soft saddlebags which can hold 2 full green fabric bags worth (or a 30 pack of coke cans in each side with millimeters to spare).
Even did some touring/camping occasionally and could hold a week worth of clothes, food and even a swag (roll up mattress in a canvas sleeping bag type thing).
It wasn't always convenient, but got the job done.
This was all on a 2000 Honda VFR800, which is a semi-upright sport touring bike.

@@adventure_F0x There are assholes in the car world too. I'm 17 but am heavily into both cars and bikes. I daily drove a bike from March to October of 2018 and tried my absolute best not to be a jerk, I'd stay near speed limits, not lane split, and I'd do my best to make people smile or laugh. Gear wise, I paid $40 on gloves and $260 on a helmet but the most of a jacket I bothered to wear was a hoodie or two. Get to know the individual, don't stereotype everyone.

If its the same route i guess it wouldn't be much different time wise. Speed limits and traffic is the most important factor. Anything bigger than a low end a2 bike would hamper his ability to split lane i reckon.
a 125cc is gonna be faster in traffic than a 600-1000, way lighter and smaller. easier to split lane with etc
H2r through central london wont go any faster than a 125cc
I think my SV650 would probably be quicker as its bars are narrower than the monkeys and it can accelerate away from the lights faster, only have to make it to one more green than he does to make a difference.
Honestly I'm just glad you're getting into motorcycles. The first time I rode a bike, I felt nothing but the smile on my face. Kinda like a drug.
