- Buford Pusser was sheriff of McNairy County, TN. His service and tragic death was immortalized in the making of two major motion pictures. I remember seeing the movies when they first came out and it was a shocking experience to see such a dedicated policeman such as him met his fate trying to enforce the law. It makes on know just how dangerous this job is and how much these heroes need to be remembered.
I watched the first movie "Walking Tall" from the tailgate of a pickup truck at an outdoor drive in located in Pigeon Forge, TN. For a while a local man ran a small police museum there and had many items related to Pusser. For many years I wandered what ever happened to all of the memorabilia after the place closed up....at least until yesterday September 8, 2016, I just happened to run into this man and his memorial to the late Sheriff. He is a friend of the family and has some great stories to tell, and best of all he has this McNairy County Sherrif's squad car and Buford's original "stick" that he has been showing to the public at car shows around the country. It made my day !
Great movie loved the whole story keep his memory alive

Dad brought us down there while visiting family from Il. to see it. Raised in the north, but born in the south. The Shamrock was thorn down. Saw the concrete & remits where it was. Love the south. God bless.

I met sheriff pusser when I was 8 years old at his brothers bar here in Illinois he was impressive to me being so young and all he told me to always walk tall and I've tried to do just that all my life I'm now 57 and I will never forget that day
Cool, I am sure that will always be special. His story is amazing.
You bet. I was born in the south, Greenfield, Tn., raised in Illinois 😞. Sour grapes. lol! I loved Bufford, so did my dad.
I'm from McNairy County. Obviously he's a legend here.
Very sad story, he gave it all he had to try to make a differance
I love this movie.
Very sad but very well done Thanks for watching my video, please like share and subscribe
You know he's a great man and legend to just so many people. I know there's some people who aren't proud of him but that's their business.

I think some one tampered with buford's car caused it to crash I do think that
They did. Believe it was the brake line
I think the tie rod was suggested in the movie, but from what I understand, from those who claim to know a lot about the investigation, there is nothing to support that the car was tampered with
It it possible to still see this car?
I filmed this in Pigeon Forge, TN where they frequently have gatherings of car collectors. The owner was very passionate about it all, I would think he goes to many different places to show the car. You might check with the Buford Pusser Museum in McNairy County, they may know something about which events he will be showing the car?
ONE BIG HELLAVA DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS ABSOLUTE HONEST MAN AND TODAYS SO MANY BAD COPS!! BUT TO THE MANY GOOD ONES STILL OUT THERE THIS IS A TRIBUTE TO YOU AS WELL.
Yea, scream it!!!
HELL YEAH !!! HELL HELL HELL YEAH !!

Me too...sad ending
It's sad that he left this way Alice,
Thanks for watching
I look at that car and it looks like a 1973 seems like Buford was in the force from 1964 to 1972 or maybe 1970 in The walking tall movie they show the wife getting killed in a 1970s car and it was 1967 I do believe your car does belong to the police department that he was involved with but he didn't drive that car it's too late of a model

I met Bufford about 6 months before his accident I think it was in 1973...my family really enjoyed our visit with him.
I have a hand carved stick he gave me and his autograph.
I met his mother Ms. Helen at their home in McNary County, Tennessee.
Me and a friend of mine went there to visit the area and was invited by her to come to their home.
She showed us his closest of suites and shoes and boots, some of his guns, and showed us where he and his mother were given badges and IDs from all across America...
She gave me 2 pens as well as my friend.
I still have them. I think 1 says
Burford Pusser. He walked tall
I think the other 1 says Helen Pusser mother of Bufford Pusser he walked Tall
She asked us to sign her book of guests.
She told us that people from around the world had come to visit...some folks from Japan came and they were the nicest people and gave her a lot of honor
And respect. ❤️
Ms. Helen was very kind to us and showed us a lot of hospitality.
It's a museum now and you can't touch things...but then we handled everything by hand and I wouldn't have missed that for the world.
I worked law enforcement in Tennessee some years back...I'm a retired chief of police and retired Chief Deputy Constable
43 years of public safety service.
I was impressed by Bufford. He and my father both were my inspiration to go into law enforcement.
On one last note I was appointed a police officer in Finger Tennessee as a special honor in 1983 I think it was
That has to be memorable
It had to be such an honor to meet and visit with Ms Helen..I wasn't old enough when Burford was sheriff to actually meet him but as I learned of his story many years ago it truly touched my heart..one thing that has always stuck in my mind is how Pauline died on my birthday. I was exactly 1 year old on August 12 1966..I always think of her each birthday..I've always felt a special connection to this story because of this..I wish I could have met buford and Pauline. I have all the movies and have enjoyed them for years. It's just such a tragic and heartbreaking story..I shed a tear each birthday for Pauline..it's just so hard to describe the feelings I have for these wonderful and most of all absolutel honest family..just no law enforcement officers out there today that will ever fill this incredible man's shoes..not saying anything bad of others it just I don't think this is possible of today's society..so many bad and corrupt badge and gun abusive cops..but yet I'm very thankful for the good ones still with us..I pray for the safety of our good officers that are out there..and I just keep faith that the bad ones are eliminated from duty..we just don't need that kind of law enforcement..I think Burford would agree..God bless and keep you Burford and Pauline..you will forever be in my heart and my thoughts..
@user-nd9oh4vo7i it was, she was so proud of her son and his accomplishments.
I love your show
I believe too he wasn't drinking not when he was a stickler about driving and drinking

Did any one ever look in to Buford car crash to see what caused the crash
I think it was studied in great detail over and over, I do not have direct access to the official reports but most of the people I have talked to that seemed to have a lot of knowledge have an idea that it was an accident. I can not say one way or another. Could be the movies caused a lot of speculation. What ever really happened, it was a tragedy for sure.
They wanted him out of office bad
I am sure, thanks for watching
He wasn't in office and already lost his election after sitting out for a mandatory 2 years.
I appreciate what Glen is trying to do but he's going to make a fool out of himself. Dwana is gone now and the truth is coming.
thanks for watching
Well! Tell us!
