This undermount is nice and clean. But I think there is disadvantages of this you cannot put large amount of plate it will damage and fall down
Are the clamps on the underside required? My installer only used the silicone sealer and created a wooden support around the sink where the sink would rest. Is that a good idea?
@@jaknap1 You need to put the clamps first.
Good work guys! I like the 2x4 and clamp way to put sink into place. You just saved me a bunch of time. Thanks!
Thank you for showing how and where to put the mounting brackets. Other videos didn't cover that part well.
Any time.
Very Helpful.
Thank you.
Any time.
Nice. AND…great Eagles 🦅 shirt!
Believe me when I tell you, always wear a mask when cutting into stone, silica kills.
You are right.
These guys do not.. and they also use the grinder without a guard
The principle is good, the quality of the video is something to be desired but at least we get the point.
They cut a three inch slit into each corner of the countertop instead of drilling a hole. The compression hardware now connects to two sides instead of 360 degrees AND they weakened the countertop.
Great demonstration of what not to do.
Yeah, am I missing something? Why would these guys use a grinder to attach a small screw? I mean, I'm sure the guy is great with a grinder, but other tools exist, ha.
People are complaining about his "safety" but his craftsmanship is consider very professional. I've seen people use metal straps, crafting bottom supports, to epoxying an entire shirt and use that for strapping sinks. Nothing beats bolting and epoxying undermount sinks like the way this guy did: Clean and secure.
Thank You
I've been doing plumbing for about 25 years and luckily I've never had to mount one of these yet. Everyone I've ever dealt with has been already installed
It's not that hard. And it's definitely not installed like this. This guy is crazy.
@@KCWilliam explain
As a handyman/contractor I've repaired so many undermounted sinks. Best of all dual-basins . It honestly doesn't even look that good, grime and scale builds up in the recesses. Never mind once both of those sinks are full of water. The weight alone in a lot of cases rests upon the plumbing and petrap
Did not happen after a year already and I have a tenant that cooking all the time to 6 people. Bare in mine, the sink is mount with clips and silicon adhesive . Tenant waited 24 before using the sink to make sure the silicon adhesive is cured properly. This will happen if user do not wait 24 Hours to make sure silicon adhesive is cured properly, and in this case you are correct.
Joseph K what kind of silicone do you use to attack sink to granite?
PRO SERIES SILICONE SEALANT CAULK, CLEAR 10.1 OZ TUBE - Pro Series® is a flexible caulk with a rubber-tight seal providing superior adhesion to non-porous surfaces. Easy to work and quick setting in the worst ambient temperatures, PRO SERIES Silicone Caulk has excellent gun-ability and dry tools to a smooth finish.

entity - Sorry that you don't like the way the sink look but all the other things you said never happened. After more than a year no leak and no food or water are collected . The sink look new. By the way , an 8" deep sink is most commonly used for countermanded sink for granite counter.
Well Mike Da Wulfe that's why you're free to choose whatever sink you want.
I had to give the granite guys my under-mount sink & Grohe faucet for them to cut the granite & install the sink at their shop. They then bought the attached sink & granite to my new kitchen to install the counter. They did not attach the faucet. However, the sink slides a bit now (it's been 21 years). They used nuts to attach to the sink bolts & clamps. I have found that one bolt didn't even fit the sink bolt. I bought a nut that tightens correctly on the sink bolt & installed it. I only corrected one nut. Don't know if all the nuts are a wrong size. I was wondering if I should install a rubber washer onto the sink bolt between the clamp & nut?????? Maybe this rubber washer will prevent movement of the sink???? I have no clue what type of silicone they used but it appears to be gone since I have crud on the side walls of the cabinet under the sink.
im glad safety is his #1 priority
I agree.

My sink was installed under granite 15 years ago without screws, only the Construction Adhesive and still standing strong. They added 6 small pieces of wood 1x2" to glue together the sink and granite.
Nice to know . The adhesive will last for many years.

Ez sink brackets is the best way I do granite for a living and this is old school in video
What is the name of clamps you used?
what is the suction cup bar tool called shown in 3:28? My countertop needs to be carried to 2nd floor and I'm looking for a way to make sure it doesn't snap in half.
Vacuum suction cups for granite.
The clips shown came with my sink and the instructions that are included are to drill a hole for the white plastic sleeved brass collar part in the top, not use that as a make-shift bolt from underneath. The bolt/screw has a Phillips head that you are to use to screw it into the collar once it's intalled in the top.
We used different clips, but thanks a lot for the usefull information.

Thanks You
if you did not have access tot he sink corners from underneath, could you just use the clips on the front and back about 4 inches in from the side?
Yes you can.
how many inches those Clamp?
Damn that guy is working with his free hand while the cement saw is still spinning!
Lmao I do this constantly
He has all his digits so he's probably done it a time or two and in the construction industry, ya do what ya gotta do to gitter done!
Silicone is not a permanent addhesive, so based on the type of used related to the kitchen sink the properties can quickly break down leading to leaks and especially bowing in the middle. The E-Z Sink Bracket guards against the bowing and also keeps the sink very tightly to the underside of the granite whilst giving the client the easy option the release the sink easily and service from time to time.
Undermount sink always looks great but in a long run it might fall back especially if the installer kept it only by silicon no added screw.this one is good .
Nap Mejia mine just fell down. It had no screws
@@thehenrygroup2040 I watched a video where a metal strap was installed across the width of a sink (no screws/clamps). But that was a bathroom sink. There was wood install on each side under the sink to screw on the metal strap. AND I do not for sure if it was a granite counter. This could be a fast fix for your sink maybe????
Mine just fall today. There were no clips. Just silicone

Can the undercounted sink be installed after the granite has been installed and fixed on the cabinet? the plumber that I have saying yes but I wonder how? any suggestions please?
Yes. We also installed the sink after we install the granite. The only thing we did before installing is the sink we made holes in the granite to hold the clips that support the sink. You can do it after you install the sink but it will be more difficult.
Absolutely, YES! You simply have to manipulate the sink by tilting and rolling it slightly sideways in order to feed the sink down through the opening and then orient the sink back into the upright/level position to attach it under the granite. Think of it like removing/installing a ceiling tile in a drop ceiling. Some people will tell you that the only way to do it is to either remove the granite countertop and invert it but this is almost never needed. 2" granite slabs weigh approximately 30 pounds per square foot so a 3 foot by 6 foot slab will weigh approximately 550 pounds. Good lock trying to handle that! Hope this helps.
Por lo regular se le ponen 6 clips para que no se cuelgue con el tiempo el sink, y se le pone pegamento a la ranura del clip.
Gracias por el comentario. Estás en lo correcto.
De ding itis is my yob !!!
Safety glasses & Mask are must -- to protect yourself from dust & granite powder/ small pieces.
Without protections, they will see the doctor.
How do the screws stay in the granite? I don't understand how the head of the screw slid in?
It is not screw only. It is a special clip that going into the gap (hole) in the granite.
I wondered the same thing. If you watch the video, you'll see he first cut straight into the granite with the saw. He then twisted the saw clockwise, then counter clockwise, to make an hourglass shape. He then cut in at an angle, first on one side, then the other. What you wind up with is an hourglass shape, with the most narrow point in the middle.
Looking directly at the cut granite, you see what's below.
)(
At that narrow point in the hourglass, it widens as you go into the granite.
If you could look at a cross-section of the granite, you would see what's below.
/_\
That way the bolt head will slide in from either end of the hourglass but you cannot pull it out at the middle where it is most narrow. The bolt would be pointing up in the drawing directly above.
I would suggest you watch the video again after reading my description. Hopefully that will help.
The contractors that the last home owner hired from Lowe's did this. And now I am forced to fix it the right way because it has now failed after 3 years. Idiots.
Michael McDermott - I just want to clearly understand your situation. Which method did they use, how did it fail and what method did you use to get back on track?
When do the faucet holes get drilled?
after you install the sink look at this video:

right after your wife finally decides which faucet she wants. In other words........MUCH later
Did they fix the wall they damaged?
No. I had to fix it my self.
This undermount is nice and clean. But I think there is disadvantages of this you cannot put large amount of plate it will damage and fall down
Typically I've seen 2x4 blocks supporting the sink at the lip and fastened to the inside of the cabinet with screws about 2 inches in length taking care not to penetrate through the cabinet face. Never had one fail.
but if u ever have to remove that sink in the future it will give u a nightmare..i use the hurcules sink kit. that way if i ever need to change the sink i unscrew the bolt and cut the silicone with a blade and change it and screw the sink back on.
im literally going out tomorrow to replace one that was built just like you described. it failed.
We all do our installs different. I will be making a ProGranite account if you guys really want to be in and out. PROFESSIONALLY. Beautiful pictures and videos for proof. Coming in the next the next two weeks. Been doing this for 25 years
We are having a house built and the house comes with granite countertops and double basin sink just as you guys have installed. I tried to get the builder to put a single basin sink in and they said they cannot change anything (this is how they all come). The house isn't done yet, but the sink and granite was installed. They did not install the sink using this method. There is a piece of plywood like material that was on the counter before the countertop was installed. They cut that plywood and placed the sink over it, allowing part of the edges of the sink to sit on the top of the plywood between the granite. Have you guys seen this method of installation? I was going to replace the sink myself but it doesn't have the clips you guys used to secure it. It sandwiched between the granite and plywood. I'm so mad because such and easy thing to change now seems like it will take 5x longer.
That is why we do not use plywood because it will be difficult to change a sink and it will atrack mold and mildew. They did a short cut. In order to replace the sink make sure the sink hole in the granite for is matching the the new single basin sink.
@@josephk9182 I figured it was a short cut. Thanks for the info.
@@shoman24v That's the traditional way and it has been done that way on tile countertops for years. While it does make the sink more difficult to change, I would not say that it would attract mold or mildew more than any other method. You simply need to monitor the condition of the silicone and cut it out and replace every so often, just like you do in a bathtub. If you do that it should never fail.
Hand grinder safety guard has been removed from the grinder, no eye or breathing protection. God bless and protect these guys in their older years.
I agree with you .
So nerrow!
Y sintapabocas no lentes no guantes mil usos
should add one set of clip at the middle of the sink
Maybe but it is not necessary.
Check it out... E-Z Sink Bracket, nothing can beat that.
Why not make the gaps for the Goclips at the shop ?
Thats what I thought
Or you could drill out studs and epoxy them in like someone that knew wtf they are doing
I didn't see that they put holes in for the taps.
Neither they do have proper drill bit to make holes for rawl plugs.
No need to mention of pipe hole cutter.
They use angle grinder for everything!
Tap pipe hole,
Serious Question. Can I use a sink like this to bathe my two little brothers Little Juan and Sneaky Pedro?
how come its faucet less sink
Please look at the video bellow at minute 1 and you will see that we drilled a hole for the kitchen faucet.

I like the idea of the wood used across the sink to hold the sink in place. I watched a video where the guy clamped onto the granite. If I were to have to clamp onto granite, I would put a slat of wood between the granite & clamp...just saying.
Thanks for your comments.
what about the faucet
It is here czcams.com/video/zrJWaAHjGqE/video.html
MY GOD THE SINK HARNESS IS WAY BETTER AND FASTER. THIS WILL FALL FOR SURE OVER TIME. I'VE DONE THIS JOB FOR YEARS NOW. AND I'VE FIXED HUNDREDS OF THESE SINKS INSTALLED THIS WALL. THE WATER AND WEIGHT ON DISHES PLUS VIBRATION OF THE GARBAGE DISPOSAL WILL MAKE THIS SINK GIVE EASY.
Thank You for the input.
You should Google is and view the demonstration. Manufactures always recommend what they think is right, but all products are not versitile and functional. The E-Z Sink Bracket allows you to change the sink in future and also remove the sink for easy cleaning and resealing. Also another great feature is that the center strap underneath prevents sagging of the sink in the middle, no type of clip can beat that.
I can't believe no once commented on the big ole dent they put in the wall when shoving it in place!
Jaime Doornbos I seen that also lol.
much easier to use a sink setter
Señor. Esos cortes se hacen en el shop. Taller.
No en mi shop
better off placing sink setters and more sturdy
This will cost another $60 . the under mount clips is sufficient in residential but you can do it as additional to under mount clips
I dont see any hole for the faucet install 🧐
Please look at this video:
czcams.com/video/zrJWaAHjGqE/video.html
looks like he bent the hole for the right side drain with the clamp?...maybe not?
Not Correct.
@@josephk9182 I use two 2x4's, one under the sink, the other over like yours. I use all-thread through the sink holes and nuts to provide the clamping pressure. No chance of bending the sink holes that way.
I've been installing kitchen sinks undermount in Granite using a hundred percent silicone only and you can stand in it and hop up and down in that sink won't come out you don't need to do all that just glue it in and go

100% silicone typically takes 24 hours to fully cure. I know there are small metal clips there, but why chance it? I would leave the big clamp on for 24 hours... cheap insurance.
Uhhhh... Where's the hole for the faucet?
It is done after the installation of the sink. You can look at it in one of the video how to install kitchen granite part 2
Why isn't there plywood on top of those cabinets then u get the template of the sink cutout the hole in the plywood and the sink sits on plywood
Lmao because its 3cm flat polish.....fuckin rookie
No name you shouldn't mount sink to ply on a undermount sink, the moisture from the use of the sink will rot the ply and the sink will eventually drop.
I would hold the cutting machine with the other hand, away from the blade.
Correct.

One thing that I do not like the under-sink installer who put only four screws at the four corners. I told my wife do not put too much weight inside the sink.
It is not only four screws it is also adhesive silicon that glue and seals the sink to the granite counter.
@@josephk9182 Thank you for your answer. The adhesive silicon only seal and protect water only. The silicon seal would not support heavy weight.

Lmao he just didn’t film the part where he drills the hole for the faucet. Don’t want to drill them before you bring the top in. Just makes the stone more fragile
So basically there still is not a solid solution for the undermount clamp to the granite. Someone needs to invent a bolt seat and arm clamp on that bolt to finish the undermount nice, tight, solid and yes keep using the silicone to keep it leak free and sealed. There, done, now make it, and go make your money!!!! I don't care. I just want a solid clamping underneath to the granite.
The way we installed the sink with the clamps is sufficient, simple and effective.
that grinder almost got his shirt at least twice 😬
this is no good should be an undermount support system, that is not secure enough
U could just install the sink on the granite and then bring them inside the kitchen one shot
That would be difficult to move the granite to its position when the sink is already installed .
no safety glasses when cutting...didnt clean the surface of the sink with acetone before installing it to granite and guys comon u can do a better job on the seam color at 6:30...add more grey to that epoxy..other then that good job
Youve coulda done that at the shop lol and saved your customer the mess you created and the extra time youve wasted
That is incorrect. You can not install the sink in the shop since you will not be able to maneuver the granite to its location.
@@josephk9182 the clips! you can do the clips at the shop

You cut and polished on site, you dont have a shop do you?? No wonder your using clips like a rookie
just a note - no safety glasses, no guard on your grinder, especially at the 1:38 mark where it is still running and you hold it close to your stomach. Not very smart, just a note if you get hurt OSHA can use this video against you on your work practices
I 100% agree with you. I asked them to use safety glasses and guard, they said O.K but did not use them. Both are insured contractors and install granite almost every day . I could not force them to work safely.
actually you can and if they wont comply hire someone that will. If they were to get injured, since you hired them you would be the controlling and correcting employer and would get cited as well. A serious citation starts off at $18000 and a willful starts off at $70000 and up to $242,000. Its your call, but there are plenty of contractors out there that are willing to do it right. Oh and insurance doesn't pay citations they only cover the medical part. But your a grown man, do whats in your best interest, but Im sure risking loosing everything on someone else's actions is pretty risky. When people do work at my house they either follow my rules or they don't work, period.
They are also breathing the residue of granite when cutting and longterm consecuences are really harmfull.
And that's why OSHA sucks!
can you back that up with something intelligent that makes sense as to why you feel OSHA sucks besides OSHA sucks.
that way to doit is not safe they can do that in the shop i work granite for more than 10 years i know what i said
