- Top 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Chad
Hello Displorers, welcome to another exciting video presented to you by Displore and thanks for watching. In this video, we shall be looking at the top things you didn’t know about chad.Chad is a landlocked country in north-central Africa bordered by Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon to the south-west, Nigeria to the southwest, and Niger to the west.Chad has several regions: a desert zone in the north, an arid Sahelian belt in the centre and a more fertile Sudanian Savanna zone in the south. Lake Chad, after which the country is named, is the largest wetland in Chad and the second-largest in Africa. The capital N'Djamena is the largest city, official languages are Arabic and French but Chad is home to over 200 different ethnic and linguistic groups. Chad remains plagued by political violence and recurrent attempted coups d'état. Chad is one of the poorest and most corrupt countries in the world; most inhabitants live in poverty as subsistence herders and farmers. Since 2003 crude oil has become the country's primary source of export earnings, superseding the traditional cotton industry. Chad has a poor human rights record, with frequent abuses such as arbitrary imprisonment, extrajudicial killings, and limits on civil liberties by both security forces and armed militias.

Here are top 10 things you probably didn’t know about chad.
1. Chad Is Named After Its Most Popular Lake, Lake Chad.
Lake Chad used to be the seventh largest lake in the world and the fourth largest in Africa. However, due to advanced desertification and low rainfall, it has shrunk to less than 10% of its former size and volume. Lake Chad is however the largest lake in the Chad Basin. The freshwater lake that touches base with Nigeria, Cameroon, and Niger is where the country got its name.
2. Crude Oil Is its Economy’s Engine
The oil rich nation was first known for its cotton which brought significant wealth to the nation before the discovery of oil in 2003.The first oil pipeline runs through Cameroon, connecting the Doba Basin to the port of Kribi producing 94,000barrels of crude oil daily.Chad's energy sector has had years of mismanagement by the parastatal Chad Water and Electric Society, which provides power for 15% of the capital's citizens and covers only 1.5% of the national population. Most Chadians burn biomass fuels such as wood and animal manure for power which is such a pity for a country rich enough to more than provide energy for its citizens. Hopefully, the Inga dam project will spin the energy fate of the country around.

Hi. Pls do not lie to yourself. It looks like a shit hole.
I'm happy to learn that there's peace in Chad now, this is a historical country in which I wish to see by my own eyes one day In-Sha-Allah.

The best country in Africa, definitely! 🇹🇩🇹🇩🇹🇩🇹🇩🇹🇩🇹🇩🇹🇩🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿🗿
I love it when we love our own countries, instead of always thinking that grass is greener on the other side. We should love and stay in our countries primarily and be the change that our countries need, help contribute to more development through engaging in entrepreneurship and job creation for others, this way contributing towards GDP and tax revenues.
This video was very good and contains a lot of information that I didn't know before that I know now. Thank you so much I appreciate your work.

Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people.
Some people will talk about you, because if they talked about themselves, no one would care or listen.

@@rickyponting3073 be VERY careful. And I mean SUPER careful. My family originated in Chad and I was born there in Abéché. The place is a backwards place. Very violent and especially as a foreigner. So much incest, violence, drug abuse, corruption, terrorism etc. This has all caused to countries population to be unfriendly. Most won’t greet you and some may just rob you. Half of my family has starved to death also. I pray for Chad ☪️

Chad has almost the same country flag as Romania's, but the colours are a little darker, if I remember right.
yes it is
Tchad based its flag on the French flag and if u ask me I think it's really messed up

I am from Chad and this video poorly talked about my country, as we know there are always goods and bads and I don't know why the emphasis was too much pit on the bad side. Next time look for equilibrium.
And I laughed also when you said to visit Chad you need to bring personal security , like whattttt, why? I invite you and I'm telling you that you'll be amazed, like literally.
You are looking at the locals point of view and not the tourist point of view my brother....check out the youtube video of Drew Binsky in Chad. He nearly gets killed there...and he had other bad experiences there as well...
@@kentang1528 I have lived in Chad for eight years. I do not think Chad deserves its reputation of instability at all. I mean, most anything written for tourists about Chad says it is an unstable country, plagued by civil war, etc. Actually, Chad has for years been one of the most stable countries in central Africa. Most of the “instability” is just Chad defending itself: Boko Haram to the west, Darfour to the east, civil war in CAR to the south, etc. But Chad has one of the strongest military forces in the region. It’s actually doing better than most of its neighbors.
As for Drew’s video, I’ve seen it, and I do not think he did Chad justice at all. I’m sure he has good intentions and is a good vlogger (I haven’t really watched his other videos but he seems like a nice enough guy). But he did a lot of no-no’s that got him into trouble on that trip:
(1) He didn’t do proper research to know what to see in Chad, he just showed up in the capital and expected to find something fun to do. For example, he had researched the country, he might have known that Chad has a great wildlife reserve, Zakouma, in southeastern Chad.
(2) He didn’t follow advice on cultural no-no’s, such as the advice not to take photos in public places. He was told not to, but he did so anyway, without even asking permission to do so - and found out the hard way why it’s a no-no. Chad is sensitive about photos, for both cultural and political reasons. Besides, one should always listen to advice when in a country for the first time, even if it seems strange, to avoid cultural faux-pas and even legal trouble.
(3) He didn’t make any effort to learn even basic “emergency” phrases in the country’s official languages, but instead was surprised and offended whenever he couldn’t find people who spoke English. It’s a French/Arabic speaking country, surrounded mostly by French and Arabic speaking countries - why should it be surprising that it is sometimes hard to find an English speaker there? Not that there aren’t some Chadians who know English, it is taught in high schools, but one shouldn’t expect it everywhere when it isn’t even the official language.
Anyway, I am sorry he had a bad experience, but I do feel that if he had done better research on the country, followed his guides’ advice more faithfully, and gotten to know the people better, instead of just showing up and expecting to be entertained, he would have found that Chad has a lot more to offer than he first thought. It’s a beautiful country with beautiful people - if one will make an effort to discover it properly and not just dismiss it as “the dead heart of Africa”.
@@annabethwivell327 Thank you ! I watched his video about Chad too and he portrayed it so badly. Chadians are very welcoming and generous people but he obviously didn’t educate himself on the basics before going there.

Why would a country so rich in oil and other Mineral wealth be so poor? This is the question all Africans should be asking
That's Africa for you. The more the resources the more terrorism, poverty, hardship and Dictatorial government.
They can't control their own resources already under all the colonial country used to rule them.
As soon as they joined the western system, everything they had automatically controlled and ruled from somewhere else.

You mentioned that Chad is the poorest country in world . Who made it like that? Is not France ?
I agree with you partially because Chad has been independent for a while now. I am assuming the problem that Chad and most African countries have is that of poor leadership and corruption. Chad should not be poor at all
Wojak did
I thought Burundi was the poorest? I think Burundi, the CAR, the DRC, Somalia, Niger and Yemen are all poorer than Chad.

Chad need to kick strangers out that come for their oil and Gold, all of their untapped resources' it is time African people claim their riches. the narrator is saying Chad has poverty but on the other hand it reports how rich this country is with it's oil and Gold. Strangers are robbing them blind' They need to wake up and take control of their Goods'
Do you have the resources and technology and capital to take it out from underground. Without outsiders no country has ever prospered .you are also a stranger to your next village.useless people like you are respinsible for the poverty and fights.shame on you useless.

Romania have same national flag
Chad is friend with Romania, i know it
Am from Sierra leone, I want to visit chard but an afraid of security reason, am seen the Bokhara are there .chard is an Arab state
Is not an Arab state, have you visited to say that? Don't take everything on social media to be the truth ohh, come to see by yourself, I can promise you that you will be amazed. This video truly poorly describes the country, I lived there for 15 years I know what I'm talking about.
Chad is one of the most stable countries in that area, the media don’t do it justice. Most of the “instability” in recent years has just been defense from terrorist groups coming from outside Chad. Boko Haram is not a problem in Chad now except for sometimes near the Lake Chad area. It’s not an Arab state, there are Christians and Muslims there and all are free to worship as they choose. So visit Chad and enjoy! Pro-tip: Learn some French or Arabic first, it is hard to get around the country with only English. But it’s a lovely country with lovely people. Make plans to visit Zakouma National Park in southeastern Chad - I’ve not been there myself but I hear it’s good.
