Before I "Go Down", I have to leave the following comment. As you listen and watch this video, you'll realize the underrated and "unsung" genius of Mickey Dolenz. If you listen to the words as Mickey dances around, not missing a beat. The timing and rhythm is nothing short of shear brilliance. Mickey Dolenz will always rank among the Greatest singers of our time and we're so fortunate to enjoy his talents yesterday, today and for years to come.

A Ben - I just watched Mickey doing this while watching a Monkees marathon on the Decades TV over the air channel. I have to agree with you - Mickey IS Brilliant in this clip. He's actually amazing! What a talented guy. I wonder if he performed any other memorable songs? I'm so glad I discovered your post, pal!

When my dad came to this country he used to park cars in santa monica and westwood. He met many actors and singers. He came across Mickey many times. Dad said, despite his fame, he had a girlfriend that worked at Mcdonalds. He would visit her often and dad talked to him many times. He said that he is one of the nicest persons he EVER met working there. He said Mick was never conceited and signed autographs anywhere anytime. He said that he never flaunted and was nice to all.

That is so easy to believe. He seems so down to earth, genuine, & approachable. His personality is so light. Maybe that’s an odd way to describe one’s personality, but maybe y’all know what I mean. Several entertainers from this era are like that. It was the peace & love movement after all.

This is why Mickey Dolenz is one of the greatest 60's pop vocalists of all time! It's a shame he'll never get the recognition because the Monkees are still considered a creation who "never did play their own instruments." A lot of so called legitimate 60's bands did the same.
