My favorite toy was the Evel Knievel bike.
I saw Evel jump in Independence MO in the 70s he was amazing I really liked the wheelie show he did his jump was smooth as silk.
He will always be the last gladiator that's it ...

I can't think of anyone more responsible for the advancement of motorcycles and the development of events like the X games. It all started with him. Pushing the limit, being fearless.
To all those who think Robbie was better than his dad, just remember Evel pioneered the sport of motorcycle jumping. He was first and he did with style. He also had charisma and personality things which can't be taught. He became and still is a cultural icon!
Because of Evel Knievel he was my hero I got rid of fear in my life I borrowed a friend's motorbike and made a jump as far as I could and landed safely but was scolded severely by my friend my first and only jumping career I live in Montana close to mr. Knievel's hometown
@Mother Algorithm hey you only live once fly as far as you can you're not going to believe this either mr. Knievel liked going camping and that's where I met him I don't really care if you believe me or not my lifetime of memories I'm a legend in my own mind

My childhood idol and my friends too for about 2 yeas there I got the Evel Knievel crank cycle
That 'Race Bike' is a Harley XR-750 ... this one has ALUMINUM heads (not cast iron 70-71)... you can tell because the exhaust comes out the left side of the bike ... the iron-head XR-750s had the exhaust coming out the right side, like the standard production Iron Head Harley Sportsters..... also, the XR-750 was about 300 lbs dry... so this guy is incorrect on a few things (at least)
I notice the bent right foot peg on his Triumph. I eventually made sure that the kick stand wouldn't slow sink where I parked mine.
There's a man named Eddie Braun, who hired the same guy who built Evel Knievels Snake River Caynon sky cycle..and he built his own sky cycle with the same steam powered thrust engine, and he went over the Snake River Caynon ..it's on CZcams

yes he is he died in 2007 at the age of 69 Knievel was suffering from a lung ailment, pulmonary fibrosis. "When you spoke with him, it was an effort for him to finish a sentence without taking another breath

that bike wasnt put out in the 70's it was made in the early 2000's by Haro Bicycles

Harley’s are too heavy to be jumping !! No wonder Evel crashed as many times as he did but hats off to the man !!! The best to ever do it but would have been awesome to see what he could do with the 2 strokes of today !!
Many of the jumps were on triumphs.

This is great, but Robbie is 10 times the rider his dad is, and no fame... what the heck is that about. That grand canyon jump..amazing. and the one between the 2 buildings in vegas? how did he nail that landing? But, No one crashes like Evel!

@fart813 You are completely uninformed. Your grammar is atrocious. And while you are looking up the words grammar and atrocious, I suggest you go to wiki and read up on their records. Then watch the videos of Robbie successfully completing all the major jumps his father missed, and he jumped the grand canyon, something Evel bounced around for entertainment. You obviously weren't there.

anyone who has ridden dirt bikes of the 60s and 70s realizes skill that it took to jump heavy bikes with3-4 inches of suspension travel let alone launching an XR750 at 90mph.It is comparing apples and oranges,almost anyone can jump modern bikes.Not denigrating anyones skills but get an xr750 and jump it.
He also jumped on ordinary Harley's, not super sprung, lightweight aluminum, specialty motorcycles. J.B.
I dont think it has anything to do with Robbie being better than his dad. I think he is just fortunate to be using machines a bit more suited to jumping and with a little more suspension travel. Evel was pretty much jumping on the same machine you'd be riding on the street.
