Rich, I worked as a software engineer for Tag McLaren in the UK in the early 90's. Back when Gordon Murray was a force of nature and we were working on the McLaren F1. Be lucky you don't own an actual F1 the appreciation of the car would totally have been eaten up with the annual maintenance. Sadly even as an employee I never got to drive an F1. I'm sorry to hear about all the issues you've had, this is not uncommon, I dare say that if Ron Dennis and Gordon were still running the show you'd not have had all these issues in one year.

Thanks for the review. I have a Mclaren mp4-12c spyder and love it. I put on 4K miles it since May and it's been pretty reliable. I have an m-engineering tune for 700 crank hp. It's pretty fast. I'm now getting downpipes, bigger turbos, injectors, and a new tune shooting for 1,000hp. I have a red Ferrari f430 and it's fun, but I like the mclaren more. I was surprised the Mclaren pulls more attention than the Ferrari. One of my friends had a Ferrari 488 for about 3 months. He didn't like it and traded it in on a 720. He absolutely loves it. The guy who said get a Porsche or Ferrari probably owns no supercars and made that comment to make himself feel better by making a dig at your choice.

But is my personal experience with my 2019 GT3RS that Porsche has performed my multiple pre-track inspections free of charge, performed track-use non-warranty related maintenance (so they KNOW it's being tracked), and still handled miscellaneous little warranty claims without any hesitation.
Now certainly if you ask them to replace a suspension control arm that you broke by driving over track curbing too hard, or you blow the engine by doing a money downshift, or something else like that, they're probably going to deny it. But they don't just "void" your warranty in general. Read what you typed...they MAY not cover stuff that fails DURING track use. That's not the same thing as just voiding your warranty.

As far as rallys go, a lotus 430 Exige is pretty hard to beat. They clean up in Australia in this type of racing.
Lotus has a toyota engine (Camry V6 supercharged) and is the easiest/cheapest/fastest car for the money to work with.
But they are the most raw.
So that is the trade off.
People under estimate these cars but the 430hp is faster than people give it credit for. On paper it doesn't look like it but in real life these are real weapons. The only place they run out of legs is the top end speeds.

It also means the exhaust can be perfectly symmetrical making design much easier during that phase of design and tuning.
