My partner pruned branches from all kinds of trees on the land. Instead of burning it, I cut them and started to lay the logs around existing trees like you do in the video (except the trees are still standing and grown fully, but surrounded by hard exposed clay soil...). I covered it with some mulch I had too, intention to make islands of fertility and catch more water. I added some pineapple tops, cause they seem to grow easily here under all conditions.
But not sure if it would work the same when using seeds like you did, because the tree in the middle is alive, huge and big.
Love to see more of this kind of work in dry areas and also how it developed, how does it look now after time has passed?
I'm in a similar situation I'm trimming a bunch of mesquite trees and wondering what to do with the branches. I guess just spread them around the living tree and sow some seeds. For what you did how did that work out?

So we're looking at a consortium of lablab (m) and corn (E) giving way to Leucana (+ mystery seed), giving way to Albizia, with outher understory species and a placenta 2 grass to be added when the rains come? Sick one

It would be interesting to get pics, lets say once per month, of how it develops over time. I kinda understand the idea of senesence but I am wondering, why there is so much dead wood in the background which you do not use? Also, can you buy those tree seeds in those big bags in Australia? Wondering if thats possible in Europe. Did you choose those species specifically for that location or is that what you always use? I think there are some Gum varieties very well suited for arid areas.
We focus on using the green wood from the pruned tree, as life can be continued quickly due the the fungi entering the green wood with the sap. Dried out wood isn’t as good, plus the labour of going and collecting the other dead wood exceeds the value of the returns from doing it.
We use all seeds that are appropriate, we get everything that we possibly can that may work, because seeds are cheap

You’re going to going to need some hearing renewal if you keep using a chain saw without protection. Might also need eye renewal.

Unfortunately not, haven’t heard back from the owner. He’s typically very busy. Good news is I’ve done it again somewhere and I can follow that. I’ll post about it later

What about chipping up the tree?
I think if saplings were encouraged to grow by fencing off areas from grazing animals then generally it will improve the soil.
However the areas are so big out there where do you start if trying to improve the soil?
Chippin the tree requires much more energy and time, plus it dries out the wood and it is less beneficial to the soil. This whole process, including explanation took less than 25 minutes
If you’re promoting Syntropics might be good to wear some protection when using a chainsaw
