Trains at: Sandy, ECML, 09/07/22

- A very enjoyable morning session spent at Sandy on the East Coast Mainline where we see plenty of services from London Northeastern Railway, Thameslink, Grand Central, Hull Trains and freight from GBRF.
This was filmed from the New Zealand footbridge next to the Sandy industrial estate, always love coming here as you get amazing views of the line going north and south. Also helped that the weather was on my side right from the word go.

Done that bridge many times. An old fella with a bike who introduced himself as Bob a few years ago I always shout "you alright Bob"? When I see him again. He never remembers me and scratches his head wondering who I am. Done it 3 times now. You should try Tempsford crossing on station road and Offord Cluny. There is a public foot crossing in the horse field to the church. Both pretty decent.
It's a great spot to come to for sure, especially when the weather is on your side. I will have a look at those crossings at some stage :)
66741 is named after a Forest hence the tree on the nameplate this is the second time you've seen this shed this year it was also at Nuneaton

I still remember watching your clips for the first time Jarred. And Sandy was that first about 3-4 years ago. Back when The ECML was still dominated by HST's, IC225's and Class 180 Adelante's as well as Class 317's and 365's. Now it's pretty much wall-to wall Azumas, Stormtroopers aka Class 700's, Class 180 Adelante's and Class 802 Paragon's with IC225's what's left of them becoming rare and confined to working Kings Cross-Leeds/York runs.
The railways are definitely changing and sadly not really for the better it has to be said

Extra information for you: at 4:58, it was 180108 working the Grand Central Adelante service from Sunderland and at 5:55, it was 180114 working the Grand Central Adelante service to Sunderland. Very good video I loved that intercity livery train at the end nice catch on the gbrf freight train, can I ask where sandy is what stations is nearest to it.
Hi Alex. The New Zealand footbridge is between Peterborough and Stevenage. The nearest stations to it are Sandy, which is 2 miles away, and St Neots, which is 8 miles away. Hope this helps. Kind regards, Chris.

Sadly the Flying scotsman Livery is on borrowed time! as is 91114 "Durham Cathederal" as due to the 225s not going further than York, they are to have the Scottish and north of york liverys removed and replaced by the new LNER livery all over :(

Where did you park whilst filming? I’m thinking of maybe going to this location for a few hours when the weather gets nicer?
Just to let you know the flying Scot is being debranded cause 91s don’t do Scotland anymore but you should see the makeover they are getting amazing n also carriages being made over into current or close to LNER scheme
It will be shame to see that vinyl go, but the Intercity livery that they are getting looks incredible

I don't know if I will be able to get Newcastle done this year but I will try and get it done next year at some stage. In regards to playing some more games I'm very much undecided at this stage

Yes, they do because the freight train in the video would have gone through Sandy after passing the footbridge.
