#LedZeppelin #TheRover #Reaction
Very underrated song, but true Zeppelin fans love it. And your reactions are getting better and better!
I love The Rover a lot!!! One of my favourites togerher with Trampled Underfoot and Night Flight🔥
The main riff in this song is definitely Page's filthiest. It is so funky and chunky.
The bassline is so underrated imo
This is the only song Led Zeppelin ever made where I wish it was only an instrumental.
Plant's singing on this one actually detracts from the overall groove.
If there is a Zep song that is going to get stuck in my head, this is it. Great song, but boy are you in for a treat tomorrow with "In My Time of Dying". The '75 live version is killer.
“The Rover” is the perfect song to blast when driving fast, especially in a sports car.
Zep fan for roughly 30 yrs.
My fav album. And it’s not that close.
THEE. GREATEST. ROCK. BAND. EVER!
My beloved album. Raw and strong Plant's voice and strong Jimmy's riffs. Bonzo's killing with his beats and Jonesey - genius!!
Lucky guy getting to listen to this album for the first time.
One of LZ's most underappreciated songs, this was originally cut from the previous album (HOTH). Most people have never heard this song as it received very little radio play. It just goes to show how great LZ was; for most other bands, recording this song would be the highlight their careers yet it was almost a throwaway for Led Zeppelin. Buckle up for what comes next!!!
The building on the album cover is in NYC (I believe 78 St. Mark's Place). The same building was later used in the Rolling Stones video for Waiting on a Friend.
96-98 St. Mark's Place. The actual building has one more story in height than what you see on the album cover, but they cropped it out to fit the square format of the album cover.
@@tektoniks_architects Thanks
@charlesgervais4673 Actually from Zep III sessions
Love this album. 🤘❤️
the next track is a MONSTER and youre gonna LOVE it. they recorded it live in the studio, its basically a jam! make sure you listen hard at the very end. jimmy KILLS it on slide guitar and bonham CRUSHES that kit, honestly its incredible the sound he gets on it
Your generation doesn't know anything about Vinyl or being excited about vinyls or records........but art and design of covers for vinyl was very artistic. "Physical Graffitti" was one of the most creative art forms of a double album of that day and this day.
My favorite Led Zeppelin song...hands down. Glad you appreciated it. 🔥
If I was an astronaut spending years in space and could only bring 5 albums physical graffiti would definitely be one… The Rover has always been one of my favorites but has been overlooked in recent years
Agreed. First 3 songs of this album are ridiculously good.
This is their best album for obscure masterpieces
Love this song! “The Wanton Song”, “In The Light”, “In My Time of Dying” “Houses of the a Holy”, “Ten Years Gone” are standouts for me. “Kashmir” goes without saying.
As a drum enthusiast, I love playing this. PG is a masterpiece
going on 50 years now my fave zep song is almost always the last one I heard. Nasty riff, Amazing message, what's not to Love... Speaking of Nasty riffs, the next song sets the bar so high that few bands can ever hope to achieve, not just the guitar but everybody, especially once you realize that half the song was improvised in the studio take.
Yeah, someone asked Slash his favorite Zep album, he said whichever one happened to be playing
Just to show how divided we all are....MY Fav Is the NEXT ZEP !!! Take that Briar..... ROFL any Zep any time!!
@@thirty2wins true story. when I die the next song will play at my funeral!
I love this song! You will love In My Time Of Dying!
The 2 buildings on the album cover are located at 96 & 98 St Marks Place in NYC. They are also the same buildings in the Rolling Stones video for their 1981 tune Waiting on a Friend.
One of my favorite tracks!
This entire album is incredible!! These four musicians are all geniuses. Led Zeppelin’s work is over 50 years old and I think it’s still modern and no other rock band has come close 👏👏👌👌
When you get to InMy Time of Dying the live version is a must
Totally agree
@@adelahmed8048 remastered is great too….I never heard any version I don’t like…I dig ‘em all
@@adelahmed8048 I totally agree. I apply that philosophy for every track. Always listen to the studio version before any live version
You mention the album cover artwork for Zeppelin is amazing. They used a company called Hypnosis for many of the albums, and they were some of the most complicated to create and expensive covers of all time. The one for this album, each "window" was really a cut out and each of the two record sleeves had pictures on both sides that you could put into the overall album sleeve for a different feel. Wait until I tell you about the album cover and sleeve for In Through the Out Door. One of the most complicated album covers EVER
Th best version of Kashmir in my opinion is the 2007 one at their reunion concert at the o2 in London, followed by the one at Knebworth
I really enjoy playing the drums along with this masterpiece !!! Altough I dont do all the fills it has, but I can enjoy a lot doing what I can.
Not many absolutes in the world but this is absolutely ROCK & ROLL!!!
In the Light, Ten Years Gone, In My Time of Dying, Down By the Seaside, this album is packed with masterpieces.
My favorite album by anybody, the sounds and sophistication of their music puts them in their own category of rock bands
Like your reactions. You are on a Zep-a-thon. WOW! 50 years of fascination and I am still watching and listening. Led Zeppelin is still the best.
In my time of dying is a top 5 led zeppelin song in my opinion. Definitely in for a treat!
Lol...you remind myself 30 years ago! Can you imagine? Discovering this album on a airplane with my little cassette walkman! My friend sister's lend me this album just before i got to the airport. I discover Kashmir 15 000 feet in the air, above the clouds, i was 14 years old...such a good memory. Keep on listening dude, you won't regret.
Cool ❤
one of my favorite songs, pure rock n roll
That riff. And tomorrow you get in my time of dying. The album only continues to get better. Enjoy this ride
The apartment building on the cover of Physical Graffiti is located on St. Marks Place, in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Here is an interesting bit of trivia:
The first record that Jeff Buckley ever owned was Physical Graffiti. In the early '90s, before he formed his band, he regularly performed at a café called, Sin-é (Shh-nay), which was located on the same street of said apartment building, just doors away. In July and August of 1993, Jeff played two shows at said café, which would be released as a four-song EP called, Live at Sin-é. For its 10th anniversary, in 2003, it was expanded into a double album. Included in the tracklist is a cover of Night Flight by Led Zeppelin, which is on Side four of Physical Graffiti.
This whole album is just an incredible experience. A double album. I also think, although their prior music was amazing, they are peaking right here.
I was 14 when this album came out. I would lay on the floor with headphones on and just roll it for hours.
Another of my favs
Led Zeppelin fans, check out Blackberry Smoke's live cover of this song and other classic Zep songs. They play them well.
This was my first purchase of Zepplin music on a 90-minute cassette. Kashmir is my all-time favorite with Bron-Y-Ur Stomp close behind.
Oh hell yes! This is one of my favorite Zep songs - this makes you wanna tear sh** up!! Bless you 🙏
This was my first Zepplin album purchase because I wanted Kashmir. I then "discovered" Bron-Y-Ur Stomp & Thank You. From then (1979 age 15) to now, this is the epitome of music.
Three of my faves on this album coming up. In My Time Of Dying. After you have listened to studio, must be experienced live at Earls Court 75. Jimmy slide guitar is breathtaking. Trampled Underfoot from same co very is standout for JPJ. Kashmir from O2 in 2007 is just amazing. These next few days are going to be great. Looking forward!
The guitar in kive is stupid good
@@algoner4421 Kive?
@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 should have read "live"
Album cover is a bldg in NYC (East Village) 96 St.Marks pl. Also used in Stones video for "I m just waiting on a friend"
On vinyl it is a standard double album (2 lp's, so 4 sides). The album packaging won an award the year it was released. The windows in the building are die cut out. The folded inner cover with the song list on the inside wraps around the inner sleeves holding the records and the letters of the band name show up in the windows. If you place the inner selves on the outside of the inner cover there are pictures of the band members and other historical people that show up in the windows.
I bought a 40th anniversary edition vinyl of this album last year, because it's one of my favorites.
I thought the cover was so regular but you can imagine my huge sorprise when I received the album and unpacked it.
It is a piece of art, cover and music.
Also Led Zeppelin III has a very creative cover design that you can apprecite it well on vinyl.
can't get enough Zep!
The Rover didn’t make the first cut of songs released on the box set. It ended up on the leftover discs that came out later. It’s a great song with excellent guitar work though.
Being the biggest LZ junkie I know in the tri county area. I love going on this journey with you man.
Right on brother, Biggest LZ junkie here coming from Wilmington, N.C😉👍
Jimmy was a master at layering sounds.
One of their greatest LP.
Top 5 Zeppelin track and PG favorite album ever by anyone..
God morning to all. Like Out on The Tiles from LZ 3 The Rover is such a Diamond in the rough. As everyone has been saying In My Time of Dying will blow up your headphones. Have a seat and fasten your safety belt. Have a good day my friend.
Great reaction! I LOVE this song and this entire album!
The building on the cover is located in New York City. If you have a chance watch the early 80's music video Waiting On A Friend by The Rolling Stones. Mick Jagger is standing in one of the doorways and Kieth Richards is sitting on the steps.
The actual building is on St.Marks place between 1av and A ,right best to the building where the Stones shot the waiting on a friend video
This is potentially their best album, right up there with Zepp 2 and Houses of the Holy.
Based. My top 3 led zep albums are II, Houses, then this album :D
@@Literallyjustmint We have good taste🤷♂
First two songs have been Funk Rock... Zep showing how the Blues developed. Tomorrow, back to the for- real DEEP Blues of In My Time of Dying. The real deal. Peace from Canada.
This is the Apex of Zep.... such a diverse album..... in my time of dying needs to be heard
Led Zeppelin is in my top 3 favorite bands, and Physical Graffiti is my favorite LZ album and "The Rover" and "Sick Again" are my favorite songs on this album. One for the guitar style and the other for the drumming.
The next song is def one of my favorite songs of any artist or band. Every member is just on fire....studio or live. Really looking forward to it
The most unique thing about Robert Plants singing is that he moves slightly off register upward away from the pitch of the guitar and bass, yet still remains perfectly in tune with both. If you listen closely to his vocal style it's almost as if he's singing an isolated second register harmony as a melody lead. He often sings like this and I can't think of any other lead vocalist who does that.
Man this song is imbued with so much groove it's IRRESISTIBLE. I literally cannot not bop my head when I hear this song or not make a stank face at least a couple of times. Maybe for a 100$ i would be able to. Certainly one of their best.
Album Cover Photo is
#96 & #98 St. Marks Place
Lower East Side Manhattan, NYC
My personal favorite Zep.
*Morning Bro* Yup.... VERY underrated.! Take care.... wait till you listen to the next song.! Oh my..!!!!!
There are no bad Zeppelin albums. My favorite can change week to week, but Physical Grafitti seems to be the one that seems like my favorite most of the time. The Rover, Custard Pie, Ten Years Gone -- and a bunch of other great songs. This was two vinyl LPs or pure gold.
You can see the building from.the album cover in New York. Ive seen in person . Very cool.
also shown in the Rolling Stones video for Waiting On A Friend 😁
Never understood why this wasnt played on the radio
You said "If they keep doing this" They won't. They actually ratchet it up to even higher levels after this song. The next song "In my Time of Dying" is mind blowing. It's a remake of an old gospel type song that Page shows off his slide guitar skills. This is a MUST to watch the live version from Earls Court in 1975. For a long while this was my favorite Zeppelin song and it's still in the top 5. After that Hoses of the Holy is a solid song but a step down from "dying" and really should have been on the previous album. But then "Trampled Underfoot" Amazing song thats inspired by the VERY old Robert Johnson Tune, "Terraplane Blues." Or is it Terripin? I have heard it called both. Anyway a Terraplane is an old car from the 30's. And this is another song you should watch live from Earl's Court. And finally Kashmir ends the first album. Arguably their second most famous song only to Stairway and frankly, I like Kashmir 100x better than Stairway. Kashmir will take you on a journey. It's hypnotic.
I mentioned before the album cover art is an old tenement building in Manhattan just north of Houston Street. Not far from Chinatown and Little Italy and Greenwich Village. If I remember correctly, the letters in the window are on a wheel or some sort of sliding device that they can change.
One of my favourite Zep tunes, next one is a monster.......
My personal favorite of LZ.
Has all the elements ..heavy, melodic , powerful with a nasty guitar tone.
The album cover is an apartment building - old law tenement in FDNY terms ..from St Marks Place in Manhattan NYC.
I used to work around the corner.
The building on the album cover is still standing. it's in New York, I think.
When I bought this album, it was on an 8-track tape.
Physical Graffiti is a Masterpiece!. Enjoy!,
One of my favourite!
Physical Graffiti as a whole is an amazing effin (pardon me) masterpiece!!! Your love of guitar ….This album is gonna be one of your faves for sure with KASHMIR & IN MY TIME OF DYING alone…. Both of those have killer live versions as well Salvo….. KASHMIR Live at Knebworth 1979 or 2007 O2 Arena & In my Time of Dying …. Earls Court 1975 2nd night….Jimmy and JPJ are both wicked awesome in this performance. In interviews over the years Robert has said Kashmir is the quintessential Zep, he wishes they were known more for Kashmir not for Stairway. Kashmir is Robert’s favorite Zep song which is about his time spent in Morocco (not Kashmir) The cover is really interesting. The windows are cut outs, each one has different pic in it, or you can just have the letters showing spelling out physical graffiti ,my fave is the window with Bonzo & Plant. The building is located in NYC @ 96-98 St Mark Place. ☮️
You look look a few years younger than myself. I being born in 1961. They where called double albums back in the day before the advent of CD's. Qouteing a College mate " Dude it's Physical Graffiti, the best album in the history of the world".
Wanton Song......kicks ass.
This and Immigrants Song is just gorgeous Have played it over and over.A Masterpiece to me.Thank you.
Not much mention of In The Light but I think you will love it.
The hidden treasure!
Yes! Maybe my favorite album of all time, double album with nothing but bangers on it. This song and Tramped Under Foot be my tops. I turned my best buddy on to Zep way back in high school. We had tickets for what would be their last concert ever in Seattle, his parents found his pot stash I think, he got grounded and so I ended up going alone. He never did forgive them. He passed away this last Christmas. Rock In Peace, my friend 💪😇 🤘
Love love them 🎉❤
The building is in NYC, I don't recall the significance, but there was something about it. I'm sure someone will say.
The picture is from an apartment complex in East village NYC
First time to your channel - great song to react to. In my opinion Side 1 of Physical Graffiti is the best hard rock album side of all time. Look forward to your reaction to In My Time of Dying - gonna blow your mind! Thanks
Nothing before 🍃 nothing after. Think 💭 of when this was written and preformed
Rest assured, the many Zepp songs that nobody ever talks about are ALL BANGERS!! Their "worst" are still better than most.
Check out 1977 Seattle battle of evermore JPJ plays "triple neck "
Best Zepp outro ever
Page took it to the Firm. But man when it dips dpwn...OMG.
Trampled under foot s my fave or houses 🎉love them all though
Hey Salvo. Been watching your reactions for while. Appreciate your enthusiasm and the diversity of your reactions. I'm someone who appreciates "The Carpenters" almost as much as Led Zeppelin. Zep are & will always be the Kings of Blues based Rock (Apologies to Eric Clapton). Lots of people say Keith Richards is the master of the Riff. Personally, I think its Jimmy Page.
The crazy thing is, this is arguably one of their best songs but totally unknown by the naases. And that's tragic
Your reaction on your first hearing of this, one of the sickest riffs ever (Another one is another song on this album called, fittingly, "Sick Again"), what with your Instant Stank Face and your "Oh, yeah! OOOH, Yeah!!" probably matched my own on mine (which I find that I can't remember, dammit! I didn't have CZcams to record it, lol!) "Kashmir" is the only song peeps told you about on this one, huh? Well, the next one is famous for being recommended by Zep fans "in the know": "In My Time of Dying" is as close to a sure thing to blow your hair back as I can think of. You say you like bluesy? Check. Hard? Gotchya. Frenetic? AF. It's good beyond hope.
Good on you mate for being willing to learn about the music as you progress. Most reacters don't. I like the fact that you didn't come in starry-eyed about Led Zeppelin like a lot of others do. The first couple of your vids I thought, who's this jackoff? Slagging Stairway to heaven? Clueless... But you revisited it and got it. Keep going young fella, there's plenty more to come...
John Bonham makes the Rover go !
You have to see the live version of In My Time of Dying! 😀
Hi mate, Chris from Australia 🦘 here,Love your reactions I can't wait for your reaction to Down By The Seaside 👍
This should wake you up
