Barret/Red: Elemental linked with Lightning on weapon. Precision Defense, Steadfast Block. Magnify linked with Time and/or Barrier.
Fill remaining slots with HP/MP/Stat Up or Healing/Revival materia.
Useful Abilities:
Barret: Overcharge, Focused Shot, Maximum Fury, buffs, Thundaga, LB2/3
Red XIII: Sidewinder, buffs, Thundaga, LB3

I think all bosses in hard mode r still that same but now make more damage and now u have to actually pay attention to their pattern and have a attack plan instead of just trying to make the most amount of damage anytime and all time like in normal difficulty

I am at Level 70 now,
All my magic are MAXED, and even managed to beat Chapter 1 and 2 HARD mode too....
BUT I have virtually never ever fully use this block & guard technique, up till now that is !
I am only good at using the right elemental weakness on enemies
and simpler techniques such as using HP and MP absorbs items.
And this is the FIRST TIME I fully realize about the full potential of this IRON GUARD from Barret.
Time to return back to that yeti and train this Iron block against him first I guess !
Also using Ramuh in phase 3 saved me after Red died, it's constant Lightning attacks pummled him at the end for me.
Iron will on the bombardment is top tip i didn't worry too much about the rest and finished him easy enough. Some difference with the synergy ability.
I handed his ass to him with iron defense, didnt even get to use one of my limit breaks thanks bro
Oh my god I was perfect blocking missiles. Didn't even know you could do it like that with Iron Defense XD

I got him down to 1 percent and then kept doing worse and worse. Update got him 15 min after I posted this. On the first stagger I attacked but let my atb bars fill up. Then after he generated all those parts I magnified and thundaga him. I waited as late as possible to use my summon. Towards the end barret died after summoning which allowed Ramuh to do his big attack then I was able to stagger again with red and finish him off
Im at lvl 60 i literally needed to pull all the stops. Best materia/ gear/ mini universe buffs. I feel like i just beat the game again.
Is it just pointless for me to be attempting this with a level 55 Barret and a 54 Red XIII? Because it feels completely impossible. EDIT: I managed it. After nearly an hour and a half of learning the fight, the winning battle took around 20 minutes. One tip regarding Rock Cannon. Assuming you're following TSouL22's strat, Red and Barrett should be stacked when this attack happens. RUN BARRET LEFT. For some reason, Red XIII is much more likely to die when you run Barret right.

Pretty fuming. I platinumed the remake and so far this hard mode is insane. The spine absolutely annihilates my health.

@@ardenskylark6235 Grats. BTW, the hardest part about the Plat in Rebirth is not hard mode, but the VR combat challenges.

Really great guide but he still one shots Red or Barret. In phase 2 he attacks randomly so you can never prepare. Im level 70 and pretty much have all materia maxed out. This game is just RNG bullshit for the most part. Ridiculous
I try to go over all the moves a boss uses, and how to handle each one to reduce the RNG.
Just throw lightning bolts at the head everytime it pops and you should be fine for the most part. The only bullshit thing here which is also covered in the video is if/when he does his laser beam attack, your non controlled party member might die and you can do nothing about it.
@@TheDigitalDecade Are you trying to block the unblockable moves? My video is literally an unedited full clear where I didn't need to heal with good timing on blocks and Steadfast Block + Precision Defense Focus materia.
Use Iron Defense synergy skill. Saved my ass and I beat him!
This guide worked well for me, except I used less thundaga and more prayer. First try. Iron defense is the key here while building up synergy and level 3 limits. Everything else can be dodged easily - don't even need to block.
This is b.s because the defense trick barret still takes damage
Idk how you manage that, he takes 0 damage for me, just spam it
Use Steadfast Block materia
For any barrage, hold R1 and activate iron defense, then continue to hold R1 for the whole barrage. You will not take any damage. For any other attack, swap to red and just dodge them. All his attacks besides the barrages are slow and easy to dodge with red.
No healing guide lol
Artificially hard, just up boss damage to one shots. Game is pure trash. Zero sales.
Final fantasy and many old rpg games, their difficulty even if in extreme mode were never this hard !
