I have that same cancel lantern which is great, but a bit of advice... Don't stick the candle directly in the lantern or you will have a big wax mess in the lantern. Put the candle in a glass candle holder and drop the candle holder and candle into the lantern so all the melted wax stays contained inside the candle holder and not all over the inside of your lantern.

It's from an era where house lighting may have been gas and not super bright. I have sat outside a tent with a mate, having a dram, with an UCO lantern as a focal point rather than a fire.
I've just got one of these for the same sort of thing. ( I actually have a paraffin/kerosene insert for my UCO which is far better then the mess the candles made. I bought my UCO lamp about 35 years ago!)

Just picked one up from a thrift store in nice condition with a three pack of new UCO beeswax candles for four bucks! Nice piece if kit.

Will it hold a tea lite candle?
No, they are too big around to fit into the base, but most any medium sized candle will work. I will be getting some UCO med size ones to see if they fit, they look like they will
