FFXI Shuko Dancer Guide Part 1

- Sorry for the delay everyone, but I really wanted to make a comprehensive guide, so I'm going to break this into parts. This is going to be part 1, focused on the job abilities that dancer has, and some basic combo's in a solo no trust situation against newer apex mobs.
I'm super nervous about doing these guides as others like Ruamoko and Logical have HQ edits and really nice voices to listen to, but I hope I can add to there work and help people trying out dancer and trying to learn.

The thing about not updating a lua, is just as true for equip sets. Great Guide, I learned a lot!
Thanks and fully agree, both have advantages and draw backs, but both are for sure better then remaining in the same static set of a gear, a big issue new players get stuck in.
Just getting back into FFXI from 2005 roughly and wanted to try out DNC. This video was awesome and looking forward to watching the rest of the series. Right now I have a lot to learn, just got the job and lvl 25 now and still confused on what's what. Ha. Anyways, thank you for the info and everything!
Welcome back to the game! I'd suggest ignoring most pre 99 gear aside from weapons and getting to 99 asap. There can be many distractions of old memories along the way though, like I had to get the joytoy 1.0 again for my brother.
Fairly new 99 DNC and the demo was exactly what I needed to see. Everything was pretty simple besides what to use climatic flourish on if you didn't have rudra. Great video!
The answer to this is shark bite! its great

@@clamo6362 I have not seen a similar effect to shark bite, but I stick with rudra alot more, aside from maybe sortie, I will look into this

Hello! How did you get your frames so high models looking so good? Thank you for the guide its great!
I have a few user interface guides I wrote that get into this? But they are... Allot to take in so in short summary, there a command in windower to set frames to 60, and I'm not using mods for graphics? That's just maxed out setting bump map off
Great guide, but there is 2 things:
1: closed position at 5/5 gives 15 acc 15 evasion (and 15 store tp with relic feet) when face-to-face. Where did you get the 100 acc and attack and 25 store tp from?
2: Just like Rua's video you completely missed how good striking flourish is with emp body. It allows the linked weaponskill to crit just like climatic. With the emp body+3 it is now up to 70% crit rate and you get the same kind of CHR bonus just like climatic.....however it is only 30 second cooldown instead of 90. When you pare it with building flourish(5/5 merited) you get a combined 85% crit rate. You can do building>striking>weaponskill twice, for more dmg then climatic, in the time it takes you to wait for climatic's cooldown. Climatic>rudras>reverse>rudras(and when trance is active) is the only time it is worth it to use climatic flourish; if you are taking part of a skillchain with more people then just yourself the recast timer gets in the way. example: evis(15k)>torcleaver(40k)>darkness(60k)>building/striking/rudras(40k)>darkness(99999+). This example can be done over and over and striking will be ready every time. If you use climatic you would have to wait for every other skillchain to use it; thus lowering your dmg and the skillchain dmg.
If you covered these 2 things in the 2 following dancer videos; please disregard this. I have not looked at them yet.
1. Relic Feet give the boost I'm refering to to closed position. the 100 accuracy total would be on a capped quickstep, I'm sure I was off a lil? but was trying to give peeps an idea of how far a DNC can sway the stat.
2. Thats a great combo too, but with all 3 parts of the guide taking over 4 hours, I was really pressed to cut back some things, I'm sure I'll do more followups when TVR is complete. Most things tend to die before I'd complete this skillchain you talk about though when Nyame gear is at r20, it would be tough to show its power on a video.

Thanks man, DNC is a busy job and can help an alliance. But its not for everyone. But knowing what its capable of can help setups
Thanks for doing this. Love this job and perfect for when I needed a break from PUP Main. Love how busy it is and you can never get bored playing it. Lots of stuff to remember too. BTW I noticed you use Ayame Helm a lot in your other videos. Is it mainly for a hybrid set for some extra DT? I imagine you went with the STP+11 augments for it. I don't see many using it much, but i've been retired since March.

if I had the malignance I may use that? but I use path B on all nyame, WSD, and DAtk. Fought lilith more times then I can count and its the final piece from her set I'm missing.
A big mistake most players are still stuck on is the old dps sets, and those get you killed in most current endgame. They were designed for CPing in. One magic spell or tough AoE and people drop, so I try to encourage my new dps in shell to just stay in it the whole run for true endgame stuff now. Until they find a good balance in a hybrid set.
Most people are only looking for stats like atk, D.atk, acc, ect... But really a dead dps doesn't do any damage. And the set hits very hard. and replaces most WSD pieces aside from JSE once aug'd even a little
Hey I’ve always wondered if Setan Kober path A for the better white dmg is worth getting. I know I will never really want to make empy but I have tons of interest in this path for yhe white damage. I actually like all paths but A is my favorite. How far behind is it as well?
EMP procs are very strong. But the bonus on each weapon offers good bonuses. Personally the path that lowers all flourish recast had my eye more
That one interests me as well but eventually I will most likely go path A since I’m sure I will never make an empy. It just takes too much time to do it I feel and then I have to deal with heavy metal plates and everything else after…… I have Aeneas right now which is pretty cool tho. I’m also not even close to being job mastered.
Those augments cost a ton of you don't grind dyna d, def do that instead of heroism crystals

Just wanted to point out that saber dances double attack overwrites the WAR sub double attack trait according to the wiki. It does stack with double attack from gear again according to the wiki. So this dude seems like he knows the ins and outs of the job and the wiki might not be gospel. Essentially test it for yourself I guess.
I've edited the wiki a few times myself depending on the situation. From my experience? There is no conflict. Multi strikes are complex and have odd priority? So aftermath, QA, TA, and DA math all factors in a different order
the modorator on BG wiki wants information to be incorrect. ive already had a run in with them updating info on there.
is this in horizon xi?
No this is retail, horizon private server only does up to the chains expansion, so no dancer job, or the aht urgan ones either like blue mage, or seekers ones like geomancer

Still has a sub so that stinks, but I like modern FFXI Even more then I liked classic when I played many years ago

Absolutely! How far you take it? Aka if you solo thru the story, or seek endgame grouping is up to you. However keep the server you join in mind. Some are busy, and some are slow
