  • Learn how to play melodies and hybrid "808" kick and bassline patterns with the Korg Volca Kick. The audio in this video was originally part of the Korg MicroKast Podcast, which is no longer available. I've uploaded it here with some visuals. Just realized after having it a year or so, the shift>bend reverse function for per step. (Staring me in the face) I just was using it in step fx mode. I think it's cool the way you can combine multiple effects at once and get extra weird

I am a newbie to synths & gear. Can I run my BASS GUITAR through the MIDI PORT with an adapter & play my BASS GUITAR instead of a KEYBOARD using that MIDI PORT???? I am about to buy this KORG VOLCA KICK, but would like to confirm that this is possible to use my BASS GUITAR with it instead of a keyboard.

Hi Derek, no, you can’t connect an audio signal (eg. your guitar) to a MIDI input. MIDI signals are a type of data, which specifies notes, tempo and other things. The signal from your guitar is really just a wave created by the vibrations of the strings. You can connect a MIDI keyboard to the Volca Keys. In that set-up, the MIDI keyboard would not send audio signals. It would send note data based on the keys you press (eg. Note C3, note F3, note G3 etc).

@@TonyHorgan Thanks for the lesson about MIDI. I am about to buy the VOLCA KICK and use it for percussion as I play fretless bass & sing. I think it should blend pretty well, I have to run the volca kick out of a P/A Speaker I guess instead of my big bass amp? I gotta research this thing more I guess. Like I could run it through my AUX IN on my BASS AMP HEAD I think? It should be pretty good that way sharing the large amp and bass amp head. I think. ???
Your video was very informative, thanks for the reply as well.

SYNC 'IN' is a JACK I could connect my bass guitar signal to, eh? Does that make sense/work? I was just looking at it in more detail.

@@derekknight9789no the sync part still wants digital signals and your bass will produce an analogue signal

@@der_vur Need a MIDI PICKUP for the Bass Guitar or the Standard 6-string guitar depending on what you play I hear MIDI Pickup is the only way to convert a guitar to DIGITAL then(??) Saved some MIDI PICKUPS on my shopping app to buy sometime down the road.
