#jeopardy - Zábava
That's a crazy, crazy hard question. That's a lot of details to connect.
On a scale of 1 to 10 on the difficulty scale, that clue was way off the scale hard. A rating of 1 would be super easy. A rating of 10 would be super hard. The clue tonight, maybe 1,000 on that scale.
@@hsupower the question was basically "name a woman who married a French guy and who had an ew in her last name". That could be so many people. Also, a lot of people don't recall the Stewart surname when they think of Mary Queen of Scots. They just think of her title.
@@hsupower I got it--because I know British history. Few Americans bother to learn it.
@@Lava1964 wow! That's really impressive! Good job!
@@mattuw82 Another approach is: What name in the English language is pronounced the same way if you replace "ew" with a "u". As for the association between the two alternative names, opera fanatics are familiar with the Donizetti opera "Maria Stuarda" ("Mary Stuart"), which deals with Mary, Queen of Scots and her conflict with her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I.
I'm so excited! I actually got this one!
I love when I get a trimple stumper right.
I think most of the actual hint gives very little info to the point of adding confusion, and you're just better of just guessing a 16th century woman.
This was my strategy and I stumbled into the right answer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Guess the runaway meant nobody felt like guessing something very incorrect (like we at home have the luxury of doing).
Exactly. It worked, for me - but I count it as luck.
As a Francophile, I'm disappointed in myself for not getting this. 😕 The only 16th century *person* I could name was Francois Rabelais, whom I didn't think was the subject in question. I thought, "It's not a British queen, is it?"
I had absolutely no clue, and I definitely did not remember that was the reason she changed her name. Wow.
Really!!!
I got it! I knew Mary was a member of the Stewart/Stuart family.
For a similar reason, W in Braille doesn't follow the same pattern as the other twenty-five letters.
Well, I feel better about not having a clew.
That was a challenge
I thought of 9 16th century women: Henry VIII’s six wives, Anne Hathaway (Mrs. Shakespeare, not the modern actress), Queen Elizabeth, and Mary, Queen of Scots. Now that I know the answer, it’s obvious, but I still went with Elizabeth, knowing full well she never married. 🙄
I was thinking Marie Antoinette.
In the sixteenth century?
Got it right away.
wow 100% guess from me and i got it. That's the only married woman I know from the 16th century.
I would have guessed Hapsbewrg
Uhhhhhh (spoiler spacing)
I assumed it was a "Tewdor", but neither Mary nor Lizzie married a Frenchman.
EDIT: Wait, so not only did Mary, Queen of French d00d felt she had to change her name to appeal to her new family, she had to change her entire dynasty's name with it.
I knew the last name, but couldn't think of the specific person.
My history degree finally came through for me!
I got it pretty quickly, since I happened to have read up on the subject recently 😅 Call it a stroke of luck, I guess!
I grew up on Masterpiece Theater and love history. Especially The British Isles. I had it in 5 seconds. I knew who it was, but the name was on the tip of my tongue briefly.
I’ve been wondering when Jeopardy! would update the outros.
Seriously, just have Ken host from now on!
He should have been on the podium, not on the right side of the podium, in the outro.
July 1
Wouldn't get this in 100 years!
good job if you got this lmao, pretty hard
Speaking of letters, why is W in French literally "double V"? 🤔 And why does a certain English speaking country spell Z as "zee". My wife grew up in upstate NY next to the Canadian border and watched Canadian educational TV. She had to learn to pronounce differently once she went to preschool.
I got it easily
I was right!
So was I (after I watched the video).
@@judith_thordarson the "ew" to " ua" gave it away!
I honestly would have written down “Stuart” not because I knew the answer or have any clue who Mary Queen of Scots is, but because it’s the most obvious answer to me of a name that can be spelled both with an Ew and a U. I wonder if they would’ve counted that
I was trying to think if Tudor was ever Tewdor….
I knew it was marie queen of Scots but I missed the stuart/stewart bit and I second guessed myself
I knew it was Mary Queen of Scots right from the start because I watched Reign & l knew she had French in-laws
I was as lost as they were.
I got it immediately. I just thought what name sounds the same when you replace EW with a U? Stewart/ Stuart popped into my mind.
I said Mary Tudor
I knew King James I/VI was a Stuart and that "Stewart" is another spelling of that surname, so I guessed it was one of his female relatives, but I couldn't remember who it might be. I wonder whether they would have accepted, "Who is Stuart?"
I knew it had to do with the Stuart dynasty and threw out the name Mary because it was so common back then. So does that count as getting it right?
I guessed Mary Tewdor...
Who is Uhhh? 😂
I got it but only after pausing for a couple three minutes until I finally thought of Maria Stuarda.
Oh crap! I was right
Sixteenth century female, not French but has French in-laws, so probably Catholic. I wild-guessed Mary Stuart and was right.
Darn, out second guessed myself. First thought of the correct response then got doubtful...
I would like to thank the ridiculous CW show Reign for helping me get this one right.

Ken-The French don't have w in their alphabet
The 2018 World Cup Champions-Pardon moi?
The bridal Vail falls should have been good. She got ripped off.
The outcome would not be changed since FJ is a triple stumper and Isaac still won.
Sorry, I thought he said "histrionic women", so I went a different direction.
No W in French? There was when I took French in high school. Written the same as in English, and pronounced "double-vé."
The letter w was added to French in the 19th century
@@PK-blue So he should have said "There DIDN'T have a W in France," not "There DON'T have a W in France."
Congratulations isaac on becoming a new jeopardy champion with $19,185
They have a W in France. It's the same alphabet. W is double vé and was the same in 1565, but W words are always lend-words from other languages.
Mary, queen of scots, Issac is a new jeopardy champion.🎉
I got this before I was even done reading the question
Goodbye, Mayam...
Had the same reaction
They finally updated their call to action!! Bye bye Mayim. Good riddance.
Oh come on! Mayim Bialik was a great host, very intelligent, and never had that slight veneer of condescension that Trebek had.
@@CharlesMarino-je5ytnah, she never really understood the game. Never understood what players were doing with their betting and doesn’t have the trivia knowledge or interest in it like Alex did and Ken does
@@CharlesMarino-je5ytdisagree. I felt she was adequate. She just seemed to take it as a job and never really showed any of the growth that Ken did. She still felt like she was reading off a card and didn't feel comfortable doing much more than that. Ken, meanwhile, is cracking jokes and engaging in banter with contestants. And we all know he's the GOAT (since he won that title) and thus he obviously knows the answers. To him, Jeopardy is life.
Sony made the right call.
That was truly pathetic. None of these contestants even attempted to come up with the name of a 16th-century woman. I understand that history is not the cheval de bataille of most of the contestants on this show, but that was pretty sad.
What are these people doing on Jeopardy?
Get on it yourself then
Hater
@@JES96 No. I knew the answer.
They're smarter than you (and me, for that matter), that's why. This was a very difficult clue to figure out in 30 seconds when you're under so much pressure. If you didn't know it right away, you had little hope to get there in time.
@@BlueCrystalTear That was not a difficult clue. That's my point. It's basic British history. I knew the answer right away. I refute your claim that they're smarter than either of us.
