7 Things to do in Siem Reap that AREN'T temples

- I'm a BIG fan of temples but there's only so much temple going that one can do. Siem Reap has a lot to offer that shouldn't be missed so here are my recommendations.
More Singapore stuff coming up! (and also some ridiculously exciting news!)
Did you know that a lot of Cambodian villages don't have access to clean drinking water? Unclean water means a multitude of illnesses being spread to families and especially to young children. If you'd like to help, donate here:
gogetfunding.com/clean-water-for-cambodian-villages/
Or their Facebook page for more information:
/ cleanwaterforkhmers
To help distribute water filter to people who need it most, a little can go a long way!

Welcome to Cambodia!
I really like your videos. especially, when you made videos about Cambodia 🇰🇭. Although I’m Cambodian, some places that you have mentioned I have never gone there yet. Anyway, you also missed a lot beautiful places as well. There are a lot more beautiful places in Cambodia.
Welcome to Cambodia 🇰🇭 🙏🙏🙏
hey man i plan on going to your country i hear many wonderful things about.can you tell me what i shouldnt miss?you know besides angkor watt hahaha i wanna see real cambodia an real people im coming from australia...im a new zealander though! an my wife is australian sigh...haha if you throw us a few places i cant miss would really appreciate it cheers
Sativa Knight93 hello! Nice to hear that. Welcome to Cambodia 🇰🇭.
Yes there a lot beautiful places in Cambodia. There are a lot of Temples besides Angkor Wat Temple like Bayon Temple, Ta Prohm Temple, Baphum Temple, Banteay Srei Temple, Koh Ker Temple, Preah Khan Temple and some more. Almost all these temples are in Seam Reap Province. You can visit all of them by one day or two days. You can also visit our beautiful beaches at Sihanoukville Province or sometime people like visiting islands too. There a lot of small and big Islands. Koh Rong is the most beautiful once and we have Koh Rong Sanlem, Rabbit Island also. Moreover, if you like visiting natural places you can go to Ratanakiri province and Mondulkiri province. There are beautiful water flow and lakes there. You can also see real life and traditional of tribes too. You can try there traditional clothes and the yummy foods.
im doing a motorbike tour loop Phnom Penh - Kampong Speu - Kirirom National Park - Kep - Rabbit Island - Kampot - Phnum Chisor - Phnom Penh. it goes for 4 days just wondering do they enforce licences over in cambodia? i know that you can get away with it in vietnam not too sure how cambodia would treat me as i got no licence do you think i'll get away with it? by the way your english is great mate...not one grammar mistake.better than me a native speaker haha
Sativa Knight93 Are you willing to rent the motorbike? I’m not really know about it. I think it will be a problem if you ride a motorbike in Phnom Penh (if you don’t break the traffic law, it will be okay), but it’s okay if you ride a motorbike in the provinces. Mostly I saw foreigners rode a motorbike in Phnom Penh, but I didn’t know if they enforce licenses or not.
cheers brother thanks for the help an advice
I'd just like to clarify one of your initial comments, about the floating villages. I agree that Chong Kneas is a must avoid when visiting Siem Reap. It has a well deserved reputation for being a tourist trap, and is quite honestly just a bad experience.
However Kompong Khleang is a totally different story. I have visited Kompong Khleang 3 times, and it is one of my favourite places to visit around Siem Reap (I have also visited Kompong Phluk twice, which I also loved, and regrettably Chong Kneas once). Kompong Khleang receives very little tourist pressure, the people are incredibly friendly, and there are no blatant tourist scams. The only thing you pay for is the boat trip, which in the wet season takes you from a wharf 5 kms upstream right out into the lake proper; and in the dry season you can drive all the way to the school/monastery which is an island during the wet. You are never asked to buy packs of books etc, in fact there is no stopping at a shop, floating restaurant, crocodile farm as happens at Chong Kneas. The teachers and children at the school are a highlight of the visit, and I always bring a gift purchased in Siem Reap, which they will gratefully accept; but they are genuinely happy to interact with the few visitors that do make the effort to visit this beautiful place.
I point this out because the small amounts of money made by the boats servicing both Kompong Khleang and Kompong Phluk goes into community funds, which local residents can draw upon when needed; unlike Chong Kneas. Lastly, if you visit Kompong Khleang organise it as a day trip that combines a visit to the "Jungle Temple" at Beng Mealea, and enjoy one of the few uncrowded, and un-restored temples in the Siem Reap area; my favourite temple by far.
agree completely having visited all 3. Kompong Khleang by far the best experience. Chong Kneas is full of pirates & I didnt really enjoy Kompong Phluck much either
Your Cambodia’s vlogs just WOW! I’m so happy you had a great time there! Can’t wait for your future visit to Cambodia 🇰🇭

For the first time I watched your videos when you were having a great time in Bukit Lawang and that finally makes me wanna watch more your videos.
Thanks great for making my country even more interesting. I proud of your video and I would also like to share that on my page as well. You have sent the most out of thing to do list. There are some more you can do, but what you have sent in the video is great enough for three days or four days visit. look forward to your next video of Cambodia.
Hey Hannah! Love your Siem Reap videos... Reminds me of my own trip to Siem Reap last year. I went to all the places you mentioned except the floating village because my guide advised against it. From the looks of it I should have made the visit. Anyway, welcome back to SG. Looking forward to more travel videos. If you're not too busy, maybe we could talk travel over some drinks... Take care and best regards.

I LOVED Siem reap. Genuinely so much to do, it's such a beautiful place.
edit: the landmine museum was amazing. I also recommend the cello guy that plays for free at the hospital. he does a cello show and talks about the history of the hospital, and medical care in the area, and I learnt so much and it was amazing.
What cello guy at which hospital if you dont mind me asking
@@for.tax.reasons his name is beat richner and it's the kanta bopha foundation. if you mention beatcello to a taxi driver they'll know exactly where to take you!

What's the nightlife like? Is it worth leaving Thailand for or better just going to another part of Thailand?
if you like floating village, you should visit Inle lake in Myanmar
Everyone here just raves about Cambodia. I just came back to Singapore after 1 week in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. SR was definitely better than PP. I'm not a temple person, so other than being amazed by how big Angkor Wat is and the carvings in the walls, the rest are pretty much the same. (so what if Angelina Jolie acted in Ta Prohm. It's still the same ruin temple, only that it's popularised by her movie.) I do get a good workout from climbing the Phnom Bakheng, though again it's the same temples (again?!) at the top. My temple entrance alone cost usd37, up from usd20 in 2017! Kampung Phluk was nice, I was prepared against scams, having read tons of them from tripadvisors, but surprisingly there wasn't any. The guide didn't even ask for a tip when we left. Phnom Penh...other than the Genocide musuem and the malls and markets which I visited personally, I'm glad I saved the other expensive fees by watching them on CZcams (eg Royal Palace, museum, Killing Field). After seeing their wet market with their meat, seafood exposed to hot sun and half dead, decaying crabs and other unhygienic practice, I thought to myself, I would become a vegetarian if I were a Cambodian. So I began googling about their vegetables, thereafter I didn't know what else I could eat if I became a Cambodian. I didn't get any diarrhoea though, thank God. I roamed on the street for 30+km and I ate mostly street food, so I know what I'm talking. Everywhere I turned, a tuk tuk driver would call me for a ride or for women, which I soon learnt to ignore them entirely. The cheap massage...all I can say to the guys is be careful of the body massage, if you know what I mean, unless happy ending is what you want. I drank so much cheap beer in Cambodia, I swear I would not drink any in Singapore for next 3 months. If Phnom Penh is in such a mess, I wonder what other parts of Cambodia is like. It's sad what the genocide did to the country and people. Give me Thailand, Vietnam or even India anytime, but never Cambodia again. There's more culture, activities and orderly disorderliness elsewhere than Cambodia. Like many, I've been to many rugged countries, and I'm going to Nepal Kathmandu next month, so I'm not totally naive about developing countries. I know many, esp the Cambodians will shoot me for my comment, but hey, that's my point of view as a tourist.
How do you get around that doesn't involve haggling over $1 or being ripped off?
Great day to you 2020
I really love Cambodia 🇰🇭
