People forget that Aaliyah was his little sister. He’s still hurting from losing her. The fact that he’s tried to do things to keep her legacy alive and fans always criticize it is wild to me. They want something, then when it’s done it’s a problem. I feel the same sentiment for Selena’s family as well.

I still feel so bad for him . The fact they had such a close relationship . I still feel like that scene in Romeo Must Die when she talks about her brother Collin dying that it’s just hard for him to watch especially she died over a year after . Great vid Tony! Rashad has been supportive of my Aaliyah illustrations & designs for many years now, and he’s always been so lovely whenever I have interacted with him. I’m now interacting with him much more now due to something iconic being released for the Queens legacy that I’m involved in coming next year, and just know that Rashad truly cares what the fans think. He’s a genuine soul and I’m learning even more how much he cares about his sisters legacy. It’s definitely not easy, as I can’t even imagine the pain that he and the lovely Diane must feel. I also think it’s not easy when it comes to brand partnerships, as the brand has to WANT to collab with Aaliyah’s estate, and Rashad definitely is going with projects/brands that he feels genuinely loves his sister or that make sense to him. I’m really excited to see where her legacy will continue to go, especially after next year, and I think the fans are gonna be so proud 🖤

Rashad 😢 I wish I could just hug him. I loved the Aaliyah MAC collab and it saddened me how much everyone criticized it when most of the colors were from Aaliyah’s personal makeup her mom still has. I’ll never forget one day randomly I was thinking of Aaliyah’s family, i tweeted this beautiful photo of Rashad sitting and someone edited Angel wings on Aaliyah she was in the chair at the tonight show with a cropped crop top and she was laughing and they edited a picture of Rashad smiling next to her and i tweeted him and said “Please remember that when you are smiling, she’s smiling” he retweeted it and it made me feel this peace because I don’t know how his day was but I had hoped that it made him feel okay.
So sad. To have only one sibling and being so close to her and then losing her in such a horrible way

It’s not just that he’s lost his sister. People forget that Rashad has since lost his dad not to mention supporting his mom. There’s been a lot of grieving in that family. He’s allowed to be human. Fans should respect that and understand their curiosity and excitement about Aaliyah can’t compare to what Rashad and his mom have been through.

I think the most hard thing will be, as that you’re constantly reminded of your sister, that not only he loved dearly, but also the fans. Can you imagine that each time you meet someone, your dead sister is brought up? Especially difficult if they say how lovely she was, you would have to miss her even more. So I can say his depleted relationship with fans could be his own rude behavior of him suddenly deleting fans off his social media accounts some of us for absolutely no reason whatsoever , I can’t say that about all fans because some fans have been unruly, but for some fans like myself I can say his behavior has left many of us fans bitter and angry and frustrated and upset and very disappointed with him because it’s unnecessary behavior.
I think that’s why I always speak up when I see comments like this because I could go deeper but I’m going to leave it alone because I would get sued by someone if I actually spoke out about everything I found out, but I’m going to leave with sometimes it’s not always what you think & sometimes that person creates the problem between you and them and sometimes you have to become the bigger person and apologize and forgive and move & don’t expect anything back from them just move on .
Hell I’ve lost both parents but it doesn’t give me the right to be rude and disrespectful towards others some people need to learn that.
I have had to be the bigger person & apologize to Rashad and I have forgiven him and his behavior and move on with no expectation of receiving anything back because I know I will never get a apology from him and so I no longer request his pages and that’s how I’ve chosen to deal with everything, yes I apologize to him for something I have no clue to why I was apologizing to him for & he has never responded back to me or tried to reach out to me totally silent & it’s been 3 years almost since I’ve been kicked off his page.
I have lost family members as well but I would never be rude to people who are nice to me and are trying to reach out to me and isn’t being rude or disrespectful to me but yet for whatever reason I’m just going to kick them off my account that’s dirty and rude and all I can say is I feel sorry for him but I would never be rude to anyone unnecessary, unacceptable and rude.

Aaliyah and Rashad had such a beautiful sister and brother relationship. You can tell they truly loved and cared for each other. I love the songs Rashad wrote and was featured on throughout Aaliyah's career. I know there is only so much Rashad can do but I wish he was a bit more proactive in keeping her legacy alive. I love her wax figure he initiated the figure looks just like her and features one of her most iconic looks. You are right to us Aaliyah is a legend in hair, makeup, fashion, music, music videos, albums, modeling, movies but to Rashad she was his flesh and blood sister. Really good points Tony! Especially on the siblings! I think her brother is doing the best he can , I think they want to secure her legacy with something big but are unsure of how to go about that! It’s so much to consider at hand! Hopefully the family will be able to get on board , and at least get a Hollywood star going.

Maybe she's actually happy about the wave of awareness that is happening, because of her story and others, it is no longer culturally acceptable for family, fans, or industry to allow these types of things to happen, the small voices that wanted change have now become loud and clear. I truly appreciated Rashad! I know what it feels like to lose a sister and to see him push through and try to keep her legacy alive is very admirable. People are always going to criticize, so I hope that he doesn't let her fans get to him. I really enjoy the t-shirts and even though their was a lot of criticisms, I did enjoy the mac line.
I love how balanced and fair your perspective when it comes to Rashad and the family situation, but I can't overlook the *personal* accounts of people who had bad experiences with Rashad. He actively would go out his way to attack and tear down dedicated fans who were doing their best to honor Aaliyah in the best, most respectful way. For the fake fans, trolls, and agents of drama who are DISRESPECTFUL and making us ALL look bad though, deserve whatever heat they get from Rashad and the Estate, etc. But most of the time, he would come for genuine fans who meant no harm. Specifically, the homie, Amorphous. Before Amorphous blew up and he was still a talented-but-slept-on-hidden-gem of a CZcamsr, he explained to us a few different times how Rashad and his "team" kept coming at him maliciously for no reason! For one, Rashad came at his BEAUTIFUL fan-made documentary about Aaliyah. Amorphous had even gotten an EMAIL from someone (I forgot who) saying that the documentary was BEAUTIFUL...so expect "them" (Aaliyah's family) to come after him. They kept striking his channel and getting it taken down, but yet...when others ripped the documentary and reuploaded it on their channel, nothing was done to them. He even BLOCKED Amorphous on Twitter and other social media unprovoked, and til thus day Amorphous doesn't know why he did. But you know, now that he's blown up and in the realm of celebrity, I doubt he'll ever really talk about this again, but I for sure was there on his love streams when he talked about *all* of this. So for that reason and more, I can't COMPLETELY absolve Rashad of how he has treated Aaliyah's fans after 20 plus years of holding her legacy UP while it was in danger of crumbling and falling DOWN.
Yeah, Rashad don't always come across as nice&friendly. Was following him on Instagram at one point. Some of us are genuine when it comes to Aaliyah but the responses&stuff from him/family don't always come across as positive.

I think the family feels like they failed Aaliyah. So they call themselves protecting her in death. I feel like they did fail her exemption to her brother. They still don't admit she married R kelly and it's public record now. We don't know jack about aaliyahs actual life or her as a real person. That's odd for a star. There are people 200 years dead that we know more about thenAaliyah who lived during our time period. None of her friends growing up have come forward. Not even to talk about simple childhood stories. Like nobody talks about her or even post pictures. Where the hell are aaliyahs aunt's, uncles and cousins? That's just odd it's too quiet. if they keep this up Aaliyah will be another Marilyn. A dead icon with a bunch of people speculating about the woman she was. Instead hardcore facts. Which gives full range to tarnish her name. It's Been 22 years the fans are not the problem. I'm convinced something is not clean in the milk.

When nothing is done, the crazed fans whine about the diminishing of her legacy but when things are getting done, everyone is scrutinized. Get off the internet and go get a life people. Let this woman rest in peace.
It must be so hard for Rashad. I remember in the early social media days can't remember if it was MySpace/ or when twitter first came out. But i asked him they should come out with Aaliyah sunglasses. He responded back in some words can't remember word for word but there's been discussions / in the works for near future.
I really hope Rashad speaks out, and let's everyone knows the truth on what he thinks happened to Aaliyah. I know some fans were going back to his interviews months after she passed and tried to pick out clues.

Video very well done. I certainly support the close sibling union and always had a great vibe from Rashad and appreciated all that he did, including his Aaliyah tribute song. I dig the puzzle too. I appreciate you looking at the siblings side of things, because people need to think about it a lot more and be far more considerate. Even for siblings that aren't trying to be celebrities themselves, the infamous "sibling curse" still applies. Fans have the power to end this curse, and extend more love to close-siblings too. That's what Aaliyah and good hearted public figures would want.
I miss Aaliyah, I'm still a super huge fan. I'm not gonna lie I was crushing on Aaliyah brother, I do feel so bad for him and still hope him and Ms. Diana are doing OK. I remember that award show Aaliyah bringing her brother on stage and I remember the MTV Diary episode I had that episode recorded on VHS tape.
My heart breaks for him and their mom and father when he was alive. I miss Aaliyah. I was and I'm still saddened by her tragic death. Gone to soon

I feel for Rashad. Really I want to CRY in tears for him. Losing a sibling hurts. Everyday he has to keep moving forward. I love the MAC collection! I have a few items. People will have opinions and I thought at the time the collection was nice and beautiful. The purple metallic packaging stood out. I like some of the Aaliyah shirts but a few iconic photoshoots need to be promoted. A few more that fans would love to see. Regardless, Rashad carrying the burden is very painful. I do believe he deserves to get help as well. He can't do it by himself. The wax figure is FLAWLESS period!!! However, I got f*cking PISSED when ignorants messed it up! People have to appreciate and respect the sentimental/tribute whether they're fans or not. The rainbow collection...........same thing. Except a few pieces (the rest not flattering at all period). I think that Rashad is so vehemently against her music being released on streaming, it’s because it profit Barry Henkerson who might be on top of the list of the people he hates the most in the world, not only he is partially to blame for his sister crash but he has spent the years since her passing, attacking his sister and his nephew. Did Rashad handle the things incorrectly ? Yes but are the fans also to blame with the way they treated him, also yes. If he had made a communique stating the reasons behind the family unwillingness to have her music out there, I think the fans would have understood.
Right Rashad being so private about things makes people come up with their own conclusions.
It was hard for people to talk in the past, the fear of also being taken out for saying "too much" is real. now is the time things are being revealed, everyone is talking, it becomes easier to speak when there are so many voices that it becomes a choir. I hope that in this new climate he might feel inclined to share anything he thinks will improve things.
However, as we can see from outspoken people who are putting their necks on the line to pull back the rug and expose the demons, there is always a level of risk and it's not for us to say if their choice to talk or not is "incorrect" It's plain to see now, that if you say anything that messes with these industry folks paper, they can and often are willing to "sacrifice" you.

A man who is angry at what life has kicked at him will have a hard time loving someone, I don’t think people realize that he’s probably broken and hasn’t gave himself time to heal because he’s not wanting to, it’s like a wound that never heals it just going in cycles only to end up by yourself.
Maybe in time he will heal, hell I’m healing even when he broke my heart I am giving myself time to heal and move forward with my life we are all in a battle of life some of us are able to deal with life and then some aren’t it takes time , sadly sometimes it never heals.

I never got the chance to go to Vegas to see it in person and I believe it's not there anymore due to the many people who messed with it. It bothers me because they didn't only mess with the Aaliyah figure. They have been taking very provocative photos with Nicki Minaj wax figure and a few other celebrities. I feel like Madame Tussands should have security due to situations like this

I've lost two of my volder siblings and I miss them so much. I just cannot imagine what it would be like to have to constantly navigate through grief of this magnitude. It brought tears to my eyes just thinking on it. The grief never goes away, you just pick up the pieces & learn to live through it.
The problem is what fans really want is Aaliyah back, not just a legacy, so whatever is done in her memory is never going to be good enough. But what those fans need to remember is no matter how much they love Aaliyah, her brother loves her more

Rashad is quite limited in what he can do re: Aaliyah projects. Aaliyah’s music is an integral piece of her aesthetic. To not have access to her music means Aaliyah LLC are missing a key marketing component. As much as we would love i.e. a coffee table book, it wouldn’t sell to the general public. Large media sync deals require the incorporation of her catalogue.
I only tend to like the official Aaliyah branded t shirts not those bootleg ones.

Although it may not be the artists themselves that have a hand in these choices, it doesn't seem right to have anyone else profiting off of her that is known or strongly suspected to have had big industry handlers sabotaging other's careers in order to allow a near monopoly to be created for them. Again, the artists themselves may not have known, or had a choice or hand in that type of arrangement, but it's still a conflict of interest to me.

this also reminds me of lisa ‘lefteye’ lopes’ sister reigna/reigndrop. She’s tried her absolute hardest to keep up her sisters legacy but there’s so much criticism about the merch being too ‘funky’….at least she’s trying goddamnit. She knew her sister the best, and if you know lisa well, you know she was just as quirky.
Sadly it's the "sibling curse". It almost seems like some fans are jealous of the proximity that close siblings have to the artists that they sip all that hater-aid. It makes no sense to me, since close siblings that shared a tight bond are the closest thing we have to the artists, they should be loved and appreciated as such.
