My parents hated me watching Flapjack because of the dark humor, but they loved Billy and Mandy?
Hating Flapjack for it Dark Humor, while they love Billy and Mandy, a show that focus on the paranormal and has the Grim Reaper as a main character, parents are weird.
What about courage tho?
@@smf2k01 They liked Courage, but I wasn't really into it.
What the heck? Both shows have dark humor and sometimes that's the best kind XD
It was the opposite for me: my mom watched Flapjack with me, but wouldn't allow me to watch Billy and Mandy.
The close up realistic ugly faces are what made this show so great lmao. Kinda borrowed from sponge bob but made it even more bizarre
The closeup ugly faces always reminded me of Ren and Stimpy.
Yes which in turn was inspired by Ren and stimpy
I agree lmaooooo
Pretty sure it's was from Ren & Stimpy originally
Facts shit used to have me cryin
It's crazy how Flapjack was so impactful but at the same time forgotten.
FACTS. I’m a proud fan and won’t hesitate to put anyone on lol
Flapjack, chowder, and fosters imaginary friends are my favorites

Why have you only seen all these shows once? They are great shows
T͜͡h͜͡a͜͡t͜͡ M͜͡a͜͡g͜͡i͜͡c͜͡ :p step chickens we rise😤💕💕💕
My favs are teen titans, courage and samurai jack
The Episode when Finn Realized he was scared of the ocean in Adventure Time was the closest thing to flapjack I’ve ever seen. The weird animation switches and the title screen, how the episode was about the ocean
The voice actor for flapjack was in a few episodes of adventure time.
well, the ocean episode was storyboarded by JG Quintel, which was the creative director on Flapjack, and also a close friend of flapjack's creator
@ JG was the creator of Regular Show, right?
Cristian Garcia yes he was
1k like!!
And let's not forget that time when Flapjack tried to play that evil CAT with a string. That realistic close-up of that CAT was extremely horrifying than every horror movies nowadays.
_"I fear no man, but that thing... it scares me."_
Yup. That's way better than CATS 2019.
One of my fav episode
What about the valve guy turning
i read this comment, looked it up, saw a video and laughed at a comment for 5 minutes about a person who was watching this episode a 3 am

Alternate tittle: Florida mans dream spawns golden age of animation
Florida can well replace California as the animation industry capital of America!
Slapstick Genius As a native Floridian I really hope so
It's more of a silver age, the golden age passed years ago
I'm telling you, 'Florida Man' is THE MOST powerful being to ever inhabit planet Earth.

Fun Fact: Thurop Van Orman and Alex Hirsch are so close that when looking for someone to do the voice of Gideon on Gravity Falls, he was the first option
Thanks for the fun fact😊🥰👍💯
It’s crazy how such a *weird* show had so much impact.

@Richard Dimple nah man, this stuff lingered on a lot, especially in my country in europe, here it was still on cn until like 2014 together with courage the cowardly dog, and even after that our generation had the last of the great cartoons like adventure time, amazing world of gumball, regular show etc

He used to scare me lol I remember having a nightmare about him once
Fun fact: The creators of Regular Show, Gravity Falls, Adventure Time, and Over The Garden Wall worked together on Flapjack before setting off and making their own shows that I just said.
So that’s why Flapjack was so good!
And let's not forget that they are friends from college.
I see.

Yeah i remember watching it with my brother when we were i guess 8 and I'm thinking how did i not realize all this lol.
I also watchd flapjack but i got board of it......
*AND THANK GOD I DIDNT WATCH THE REST OF IT*
I’ve always loved those surreal, weird cartoons that had dark sides like Rockos Modern Life, Billy and Mandy, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ren and Stimpy, and of course the youtube sketch behind Regular Show.
Siegfried Rocko’s Modern Life was golden
I’m planning on making a couple of shows that’s gonna be weird and with dark sides
Mr. Meaty anybody?
Kids nowadays are scared of Pennywise and such meanwhile back then we had THIS show to scare us.
We also had Courage too

Nah! Pennywise was an embodiment of childhood fear and it was huge back then. Flapjack is a great show but it's more of an acid trip with nightmares.

Who was scared?
I was 7 when it came out and watched it when I was 8. As someone who has always loved the weird and gross this was up my alley even as a child. I still remember when K’unkeles and Flapjack were at school (because why not?) and K’nuckles kept getting a dunce hat, while Flapjack was praised by the teacher before he made a mistake on a test and was almost killed. I even remember candy wife and her cheating on the bartender.

All 5 of the shows descending from flapjack are my favourites (adventure time, gravity falls, steven universe, the owl house, amphibia)

Nah, that bitch was alive.... and crazy
Actually she was alive.
I think it’s amazing that this one cartoon serves as the starting point for the people who now define the cartoon landscape. And from their own creations we got even more successful creators and their shows, which will probably spawn even more great creators in the future. And all of this is one big family tree stretching back to Flapjack. Hopefully historians will look back on the show and acknowledge it’s legacy.
Actually it's not uncommon for one great project or idea to spawn so many others. Its how history and in a way, how society and ideas work and this is one great example of it. Throughout time, things go that way, ophimer went from nuclear to biology and figured out DNA, polymaths like Einstein and Tesla created and worked with others to bring us some amazing technology, many artists, musicians, writers and storyboarders find the best muse in little can be weird or inncidential moments of real life. Its just interesting to map these trees of inspiration and see where the roots lie.😎 This also brings up the issues copyrights bring but that's a story for another time.😌
@Neil Brown sorry those were the easiest ones to explain the situation as. By saying to someone to eat a bullet your implying **** upon them. Its people that say that type of thing is the reason I he works is so flipped up as it is and actually those who say to others so readily jump off a cliff should do it first to themselves, thus solving the whole conundrum. 😤 I'm sorry you take so much offense to it, I guess you never seen an amazing anime or read a good novel before. Nor indulge in the look up of interesting news topics and seen the light up faces of kids and teens when their favorite show or shows divulge into a subject their studying which in turns makes a stronger connection or liking to said topic. But go on now, let off that rage of modern real life stuff that is being neglected by so many since real life throws nothing but misfortunes, bad luck and dung at them, just like what life did to poor Telsa and how edison and Westinghouse used and abused him and so in a way did the goverment. I' ll give him props due on the ocislator and the ac current but the poor guy thought he caused the lightening up of Europe's sky which was really caused by the Tunguska event, aka meteor. I admit he was amazing but sometimes a bit too overboard on superstitions and the like. But I degress, so much has the world slowed in science and grown stale on ideas you might as well compare them. And attack rhetoric as such as eating bullets are not to be thrown around lightly, as such don't say to anyone that unless ye yourself are prepared to take the same fate, as many animes and some so said cartoons which not all ate kid friendly point out with care. Thus scale back on said rhetoric is best and go the more polite but jab angle unless karma likes to take that offer up someday. Alas, its not me to worry over, but just friendly caution on using such phrasing.😬
Neil Brown I think it’s a cool comparison

story time! my brother, our two friends and i were obsessed with flapjack around 2008/2009. i remember they weren't allowed to watch much TV at their house (strict family), but when they were allowed to play in our house we always went straight to charter on demand to watch flapjack. we constantly quoted dialogue from the show and even played games based around it in our pool. it was definitely a weird show, one that my dad still doesn't see the appeal of, but it was so unique. it very much shaped our sense of humor as kids, and the fact that so many people who worked on it went on to make cartoons i watch now is so cool!! (gravity falls was my all-time fave show from 2012 to 2017). i'm almost 20 now. time really flies
GF is also my favorite. I'm glad that I got to witness such a masterpiece. I'm proud to be part of such an amazing fandom too ❤
I can relate
Learning that Flapjack started airing in 2008 is insane to me. I'm a 2000s kid and a lot of the shows I grew up watching aired in the 90s so I was just watching the reruns. But to know that a show that I grew up watching was actually airing at the same time makes me so happy. It's no wonder I remember so many of the episodes. I probably watched it as it premiered.
Flapjack is one of the shows that really got me looking into animation and writing. All the stories in the show were funny, weird, scary, happy, I loved it. And all the characters were great in their own ways. I really miss this show.
Me too! Hes my hero! I was going to make a animation for those who miss it, but seems like not many people like the show so Idk... So glad to hear I'm not alone though!
