The Dreamcast version definitely has that "This wasn't made from the ground up for the system" look to it.
Rubbish
@@afistfulofpimples1745 How am I wrong? Games made with the Dreamcast in mind look better.
dc looks generic and floaty. i played both and psx still plays better
@@SomeOrangeCat Like Sonic Adventure 2. 👌
@@rosemarysandcastle You have a point, as does Simply Sherbert. This game looks like one of those early PSX to Dreamcast ports where the DC basically got a higher-res version with better textures and that was about it. That said, V-Rally looks to have a bit more work put into it than just that, with different surface textures and improved road-side objects. However the car handling just seems to suffer, and I think it's the effect of the faster framerate as the car just seems to move around way too quickly. The two games end up looking quite different just from the perspective of handling alone.
I really think Sega should have not released the Dreamcast as early as they did, since for that first year it seemed like developers weren't ready yet to step up their games to the next level and ended up giving us a lot of Playstation ports that only looked marginally better.
i love Dreamcast!
I too. Do you have Facebook
I bet u own an Xbox
What Eden Games achieved on the PS1 is mind-blowing.
I agree.👍😃
I have worked at Eden Games during 11 years (Lyon France) ... Happy to read this 😊
@@YayaRagondinos Awesome! I've always been a huge fan of Eden Games. Thanks for all your hard work. 😉
@@YayaRagondinos Tu as mis le patet le alors ….
100% agree, stands among the best racing titles on PSX! The soundtrack is killer too!
I was always impressed by the draw distance in this game on Playstation! Also very smooth.
Hey VCDECIDE. Can you do a versus beetwen Gex of 3do and Playstation?
The game is obviously best on Dreamcast but the PS1 version is pretty damn good looking considering the hardware limitations.
Not necessarily, if you watch the playstation version you will notice that the car responds to every bump in the road and moves with much better dynamics, whereas on the dreamcast version the car has the characteristics of a hoverboard just gliding over the ground, The playstation version is older but with "full dynamics" which took years to achieve, The dreamcast version looks neater visually but only that.
its actually nothing more than a polished up re-issue that's lacking depth, Giving you something new, but also taking away something very important!!..
The guy who programmed the game says otherwise.
@@SomeOrangeCat Doesn't matter what he says go by what's seen.
@@satkinson8281 Dreamcast also have some advantage with it's controller layout being better for racing games specifically (it have triggers, unlike the PS dualshock).
@@shira_yone Probably does have a better controller layout than playstation i guess that alone is just down to "players opinion" although I hardly ever played the dreamcast console that often.
Obrigado por compartilhar esse video.
Dreamcast hardware have much more power than the first playstation, so the dreamcast Version wins easy. Better graphics, better framerate, smoother game play and higher resolution 480p with a VGA Box.
Of course, Dreamcast was the same console generation as PS2 and Xbox.
Looks better on PS1
Take a good look again.
Ps1 version is prettier
@@alphatrion100 Being prettier is something subjective, totally unrelated to the fact that the dreamcast version is objectively better. It's like I prefer the graphics of the original Donkey Country from the snes versions, but it's obvious the new ones are way better.
@@alphatrion100 lol. PS1 looks like pixelated, choppy 30fps garbage. May want to get those eyes checked. Dreamcast absolutely annihilates the PS1 version it's not even a point of discussion.
Is that the actual in game music playing during the opening movie?
Looked amazing on PS1. One of the swan songs on the platforms. I liked the game a lot.
Only ever played the Dreamcast version which i think is great. However i really like the slight transparent effect they've put on the speedo on the ps1 version.
Can you do a Region Comparison Video on J.J. and Jeff and China Warriors on the TurboGrafx-16 please?
Wait, you telling me that Need For Speed V-Rally 2 was on the Sega Dreamcast the entire time as well?? I remember owning the first Need For Speed V-Rally for the PlayStation but I thought this V-Rally was just a new V-Rally game that was for 2 different platforms. I guess Atari & EA agreed that they'll work on it together in each platform & Atari just gave the Dreamcast an exclusive name title.
It's vrally 2 turkey, not 1. Different game.
@@afistfulofpimples1745 lol Of course man, that's why i said i thought V-Rally 2 was just a whole new WRC Game that was for the Sega Dreamcast. I kept forgetting that V-Rally 2 was on PSone as well. The first V-Rally that you was talking about that I use to owned for my PlayStation, was only on PlayStation.
Both games were developed by Infrogrames. EA published the game for PS1 and Infrogrames published it for DC.
Bem quinta contra sexta geração... A vantagem é do Dreamcast, mas a versão do PS1 consegue mandar bem tb.
Nada a ver. A do ps1 ta bem melhor
One of the best PS1/N64 (or Arcade/PC games older than 1998) to Dreamcast ports. The PS1 roots of this game is undeniable, but everything looks, sounds and plays better on the Dreamcast version, like all PS1 to DC ports should be (but sadly was not). I've played both versions like hell back then. My top 10 Dreamcast ports from inferior hardware (counting the ones that took one step in between with PC versions, that generally was the basis for the Dreamcast code):
01. Rayman 2: The Great Escape
02. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
03. Tony Hawk's 2 Pro Skater
04. Test Drive V Rally
05. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater
06. Spider Man
07. Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles
08. Demolition Racer
09. Resident Evil 2/Resident Evil 3
10. Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (even with the sometimes choppy frame rate)
Top 3 worst, laziest PS1/N64 to Dreamcast ports:
01. Urban Chaos
02. Nightmare Creatures 2
03. Toy Story 2
The Dreamcast version would normally win in alot of cases.
But, in this special case, the ps1 version has better car handling, slightly cleaner textures, and the cars look hard and metallic, like a real car. So in this case it's a 50/50 win, since the dev team, did a really good job, for both versions of the game here.
For some strange reason, the dreamcast version has slightly muddy blurry textures on some cars, which is weird. Because the dreamcast was powerful enough, to easily handle cleaner textures and 3d graphics etc.
The dreamcast version of the V Rally game looks really nice. They did a good job, with alot of the enviroments in that game. The Indonesia stage and rainy muddy Finland stage look really good.
But I think that graphically, the game could have looked extra better on the dreamcast, since the dreamcast was way more powerful, and can do better graphics. Eg. Test Drive Le Mans, F335 Challenge etc. But despite that, V Rally looks really good on both consoles, especially on the dreamcast. But it's marvellous what they were able to do, on the PS1 as well. It's a pretty game on both consoles. And still, one of my favourite racing games.
Audio wise, the audio in both versions of the game sound okay.
But one other good thing about both versions, is that both have cool looking gui menu screens. Holy cars! Those menu screens look cool.😃
Nice comparison vid.👍
When I look at this I just see how much better and smoother the Dreamcast version looks.
@@mrjohnnyk Yeah. True dat.😃
It's muddy because of texture filtering
Do thps1 PS1 vs Dreamcast comparation please
With n64 too
No, don't do that one please.
rock track)audio) missing too?
I remember seeing this game in the manual to NFS1 on the saturn and them advertising a saturn release i think? I eventually found the playstation version but never found that fabled saturn version. What a shame that it doesn't exist. And we didn't get an NFS2 port on the saturn either :( at least the Windows version spanks.
Eu joguei demais a versão do Dreamcast, eu amava, porém a versão do ps1 me impressiona!!!
My first Game.
DREAMCAST ♥️
Dreamcast version is much better. Framerate and arcade feel
DC is one generation higher than PS1.
Solo faltaba
why is evrything yellow on dreamcast?
i remember back in the day crashing into opponent or tip them over at junctions all the time lol
Dreamcast version is just another generation graphics, plus nice details added to world
I have the DC's and the image is not blurred like this, even on a crt
You right, game is cryspy on Dreamcast, I love to play v rally 2 on dc, i play a lot with friends, and image is not blurred at all
Dreamcast WINS!!!
Obviously, as it is one generation higher. But PS1 is more impressive, as it is a "last generation" console compared to DC.
En uno dice need for speed
Otro dice test drive ?
PS1 and Dreamcast 2 of my top systems ever. The PS1 really doesn't get the credit it deserves, people have no idea how revolutionary it was for the time. And there are many hidden gem games that really shine and outperform.
On DC, they forgot to implement the houses aside of the road :-(
Muito bom teu canal.
Looks good for a ps1 game.
Looks mediocre for a dreamcast game
Looks like burnout on DC
Mediocre but in not a total bad way, I mean, it was pretty commom for the PC or DC version to be this way. 60fps, far view distance, higher resolution and sligh increments all around is not a bad experience. Also playing it with the DC triggers is amazing. Of course if you get a master piece like "le mans" there is no way to compare.
3:15 The Dreamcast version uses the Test Drive name regardless of region because EA famously refused to support the Dreamcast.
The Dreamcast version is technically a step above but over-filtered to N64 levels of blur. I guess it's mostly a PS1 game with heavy doses of texture filtering. I prefer the artistic style of the raw Playstation title.
Wow. I...I actually prefer the PS1 version, here. On the DC the car seems to float (the shadow isn't dark enough) and the mipmapping makes the car look blurry.
Dreamcast was the true next-gen console.
The intro, is "hand down" better on PsX 😮
Strangely enough, I dig the PS1 version so much more. 🤔 The same test on a CRT TV would reveal something interesting I think.
I had the both versions of the game, and even though the DC version looks vastly superior I would often run into massive frame drops and poor frame pacing. Put me completely off the DC version.
Weird, we spent a lot of time running the game on all the tracks, in one, two, four players, making sure it would be at 60fps even in PAL 60 and on VGA Box.
Does that happen on all the levels, with all the cars, in random places, or is that in very specific places?
The controls in Dreamcast version are really bad,and difficulty spike on expert levels is insane.Felt like AI cheating, fast like rockets even though you drive the same car as them
Why would they Call V-Rally 2 a Need for Speed game? I get it being called Test Drive since it was made by Eden Games but coming off of NFS2 and 3 to a rally NFS game just is bizarre.
It's due a Rally mode unlockable at the first 2 NFS games (it's a secret mode), and they thought it would be cool a full fledged game of it. But the game was made by a 3rd party developer and even EA didn't like much the idea but allowed the name of NFS be included. But when it was ported for the DC... well... VCDecide explained all. They ended with Test Drive at the name. From my point of view, just to attract more customers to buy it due the famous name.
@@dlib89 EA didn't publish any games on the Dreamcast. So they went with the Test Drive name on DC.
@@SalivatingSteve I meant the PSX when mentioning EA allowed.
Best rally game on ps1 and Dreamcast
I was about to say that the Dreamcast blows the PS1 out of the water until I realised how many missing assets are in the Dreamcast version. Yes it looks smoother and graphically superior, but why are all the buildings missing?
Dreamcast seem to have no smoke effects on tires......
I played both, and both are awesome!. ps1 for me is best in soundtrack, and for efforts in better graphics, dc are fluid, higher framerate!.
Sega Rally 2, Daytona 2, LeMans, Tokyo Xtreme Racers y Sega GT.
Dreamcast had really nice textures for that time, also usualy very clean image quality.
Track ( Indonesia ) ???
Unquestionably, the DC version looks and runs better, however, the PS1 version actually feels and plays better. The DC version still plays well enough, but the PS1 controls better. Also, I notice the music between US and UK versions differ. IMO, the UK arrangement is better as is purely metal/rock based...
I think this just shows off the performance difference from PS1 to DC. Comparing the actual gameplay is something else entirely.
Both beat the crap out of V rally 4, which doesn't even have a racing soundtrack!
Eu tinha me esquecido desse jogo.
isnt dreamcast a 6th gen hardware?
The dream cast is better but I just love the crispness of the ps1
The PS1 is so much better, it has such an amazing graphics and better gameplay. I used to have an PS1 version of the and i consider it as one of the best and underrated racing game of the PS1 out there!
If SEGA had succeeded in its advertising campaign against the giant Sony then the DC would have won hands down: this console was largely ahead of technology when it came out.
idk what to say, Ps1 and Sega satrun have very similiar performance, but if you compare with the dreamcast that is newer, the dreamcast wins
Primeiro like princesa caju
Car feels weightless on the dreamcast version. Like it doesn't stick to the ground.
A qualidade gráfica e a jogabilidade no Dreamcast, São infinitamente melhores.
The co driver did my head in....long....long...long...long...long...long
Obviosly the Dreamcast is going to take this one, the Dreamcast is a pure arcade machine that beats most PS2 games side by side, they have to try really hard to mess this one up. But this just shows you how amazing the PS1 was considering it came out in the mid 90's.
I like PlayStation graphics more than Dreamcast gfx. And im not the only one.
There's bound to be a small number of people with strange objectively wrong opinions so of course you're not the only one.
For the hardware playstation is impressive bcoz dreamcast's trye comparison is ps2 not ps1
Comments on these vids are ALWAYS full of DC fanboys, and I am one, but in this case I've gotta say the game looks amazing on PS1.
DC version may be more advanced but the PS1 version is pushing its limits way harder.
The only thing bad about ps1 hardware design was the lack of a z buffer so graphics can be rendered in proportion to correct perspectives in 3D spaces. Without it everything looks wobbly and warped. that was a bad decision by Sony. even Saturn and the 3do can achieve this better
Having just played both myself 5 mins ago the psone has much better dust effects, better handling. The Dreamcast is higher res and better graphics overall but the handling and weird break glitch that revs the crap out of the engine damn near kills it. PSOne version for me.
Next Atari 2600 vs PS5
Slight win by Playstation here, 3'49"33 vs 3'55"44
Dreamcast is 60fps with better texture filtering
Ya don't say? Well it should considering the hardware it's running on is a full generation apart from the PS1.
