Lost his mom, dad went to jail, brother went missing, left with nothing but your dog. Realizing your brother is your enemy and accidentally kills himself. Pulling a needle that can kill the world or save the world. I don’t know man. In the end he broke the world. All that pressure

My mom passed away a year ago today. When my dad and I got the call from the hospital saying that she passed, this scene was the first thing to come to mind. I had played MOTHER 3 a few years prior and just wanted to go back to this scene after receiving the news. She had been fighting cancer for about 6 years and going on year 7 up until then. It’s pretty hard on loosing someone close to you like your mother. But man, this scene is just something I’ll rewatch every time December 29th roles around.

7 years ago, I watched my mom nearly pass alway. She has a rare mutation of CF, & she had been in the hospital for 11 months that year, & it was really hard for an 8 year old me. So she ended up getting a feeding tube installed into her stomach, & my Mimi was visiting San Diego. We spent all day at Belmont Park having fun, when she had a feeling that we had to go to the hospital. We drove there, & the surgery had ended, & all the surgeons assured me she was okay, but I didn’t feel right. I later learned that there was internal bleeding that the surgeons hadn’t noticed, & didn’t seem to care. My mom was barely conscious only grunting in pain, I remember being in tears thinking she was about to die, I kept asking her if she was okay, & if she knew my name. I thought I had lost my mom that day. I had said a prayer that she would wake up, & a miracle had happened. One surgeon knew she was going to die, & had did an emergency surgery on her to stop the bleeding. I had to leave to go home 3 hours away. I won’t say what happened in my mom’s perspective during her nearly dying for personal reasons, but what had happened was truly a gift from God himself. She’s alive & well right now, only occasionally going to the hospital, though my mom is going through a lot mentally, i cannot express how grateful I am to still be with her. I just know that she was meant to live for a little longer. & I believe that with me too, I’ve experienced a 3 year depression that lasted until few months ago & was seriously at a low, but I too had a near death experience. I know that both me & my mom, & everyone reading this comment are meant to be here, & that God put this world with all of us in mind, & he knew that it wouldn’t be complete without you & me. I played this game mostly spoiler free a few weeks ago & beat it, & well it is my favorite game of all time for so many reasons, this moment broke me. It made me think of that horrific day of seeing my mom dying, & the intense emotion in it. But I am so humbled by the lord for all of his great miracles that hes has for us, no matter the struggle. Thanks if anyone’s reading this, & I hope you have a wonderful life🙏🏻
This scene is so powerful. Lucas does not need a single word for us to feel sympathy for him. The feeling of being lost in an empty landscape. And when he saw his mother in the cliff, he was ready to die to be with her. Remember he is only 13 years old at this point. So sad...
Mother 3 is like the Pixar of video games: The graphics are colorful and full of life, there's a decent amount of humor to go around, you're going to leave with at least one favorite character that you can relate to.......and you are definitely going to be getting the feels on at least one point in the story.
This is one of the best chapters in the game for the story content alone. It shows a lot about Lucas's character without a single word being spoken, and that's absolutely beautiful.
Have you heard about the cut content from the game from when flint was originally going to be a more permanent party member? In this scene he was programmed to say something along the lines that he was ready to finally die and reunite with her, right in front of Lucas

This is obviously an emotional part of this game, and a sentimental moment for many people who have played it (might i add this isnt just a random youtube video because of those things). Commenting on a youtube video is basically anonymous, and sometimes it helps to share your experience and emotions with others. In a way, you can be vulnerable while still not having to feel vulnerable, which i think is a cathartic experience. On top of the fact that being vulnerable can be healthy for us all.
Played through this section just 10 minutes ago I was fucking SOBBING I have never felt so sad in my life, like no joke. When hinawa appeared I literally felt a SHOCKWAVE of sadness throughout my entire body and I was just crying like someone who actually had lost his mother and brother to a dinosaur I even almost cried while writing this because of hinawa showing up due to the video playing in the BG I’ve been going through a rough time for I wanna say 3/4 years and mother 3 has been just a way to get away from it all. With other games I barely feel like I’m enjoying them or get really angry playing them, mother 3s the one game I just… enjoy. Despite not actually losing anyone close to me (who I liked), I can honestly relate to lucas. Having your once perfect family start to crumble with the people around you becoming altered (tazmilly) and having their opinions and attitudes changed due to outside sources. For lucas, it was his friends and the other people he knew in his village For me, it and still is my family. My mum and most likely my bro are transphobic due to the news channels they watch. I’m trans. Its been and STILL is a very hard time for me coupled together with worrying about my BF, the other family stuff, and the ever approaching end of Highschool. Its nice knowing someone who is vaguely in the same situation you are in, and being able to relate to them, and grieve together. He may be a few pixels on a screen but I consider lucas, and most of the mother 3 cast, a friend. sometimes I wish I could just be in tazmilly instead of living in this shitty world I live in now. And to be honest, when I play mother 3, I feel like I’m right there with lucas, duster, kumatora, boney, flint and all the other cast members. I feel like I feel the same joys, the same anger and the same sadness as they do, I feel like I’ve grown alongside the characters over the course of the game and nothing else has ever made me feel that way, not even IRL friends or family. mother 3 is the best game to ever of been made on this planet and there is nothing that will EVER be able to top it. I just hope it will come to the west sometime soon. I’ve tried to preach this game to my friends so many times but I just never know how to seriously propose it to them (I always also worry about chapter 4, you know what I mean.) it was moreso Shigesato Itoi that abandoned it, because he felt that he told the best stories he could with it, and felt it was time for it to end. Nintendo simply respected Itoi's wishes for the series to end, which is honestly pretty respectable if you ask me.

i remember this part of the game.. Nintendo should really put some more care into the mother series! actually no, the most they should do is put it to the virtual console now that i think of it... it feels more like you discovered an amazing game to be explored. hell, that might even be what Nintendo's doing. if so, i like that! i like it because it makes you feel you've discovered the game itself... well for me, because i hadn't seen much reviews on it, and it was actually my first mother game. my expectations were much different, like wierd stuff, creepy final boss, all the crap! but what i saw was nothing like that, it was a great story, and memorable characters. i didn't get what i thought i would get, but i was even happier with the result i got than what i imagined.
When I see my younger mom, this is what I feel. Before she became materialistic. The only scene in gaming like this I have seen is in Wolfenstein when BJ Cried to his mom.

i remember this part of the game.. Nintendo should really put some more care into the mother series! actually no, the most they should do is put it to the virtual console now that i think of it... it feels more like you discovered an amazing game to be explored. hell, that might even be what Nintendo's doing. if so, i like that! i like it because it makes you feel you've discovered the game itself... well for me, because i hadn't seen much reviews on it, and it was actually my first mother game. my expectations were much different, like wierd stuff, creepy final boss, all the crap! but what i saw was nothing like that, it was a great story, and memorable characters. i didn't get what i thought i would get, but i was even happier with the result i got than what i imagined.
