I love watching your videos. They make this old man happy because 50 years ago, my late wife and I had a large garden and we loved harvesting all the fresh vegetables and preserving them. Some by canning and some by freezing. I can't wait for David's cookbook since I also love to bake. I've never tried biscotti though. Maybe it's time! My gratitude and prayers are with your family.

It is wonderful that David is learning to cook. Kind of reminds me of me when I was his age. I went out and picked a huge bucket of blackberries. I brought they home and showed my mother all of these berries that I picked. She told me that was wonderful but what was I going to do with these berries. I told her I was going to make pie with them. Mother asked if I have ever baked a pie before knowing full well that I hadn't. So mother said that she had better teach me to bake a pie. From that day forward I have always cooked my own food except for my 4 years in the Canadian Navy.
    God bless always Joe Scott

Oh my goodness, does this ever remind me of my Mom’s kitchen when I was a child my Dad built a grape arbor and they grew Concord Grapes. My Mom made jelly and juice and pies . All of us kids loved it. We had a big peach tree and a lemon tree too. I still at 72 years old have never had a peach as sweet and delicious as off that peach tree when we’d just go out to the backyard and take one off the trees. Thanks for the memories you reminded me of today. It’s been a sad day my sister-in-law passed away this morning so happy thoughts were needed and this is what you gave me.

Can't wait for David's cookbook. I hope to get one. I am a baker at heart. I have made and sold lots of baked goods at farmers markets over the years. The grape pie crust is so creative. Have you considered an small outdoor kitchen? I leave my crockpots, toaster oven and regular stove outside from March through September here in Las Vegas, NV. It's just too hot in the house to do all my cooking (from scratch) inside.

Thank you for your videos. Such a blessing! I have a food mill like yours - inherited from my sweet Mother! Never knew what to call it. She would ask me to put cooked potatoes though it for our Thanksgiving and commemorative dinners and call it riced potatoes. ( Also used it for canning of course- we had plum trees and made plum jam and jelly quite a bit.) Wonderful memories - thanks!. Although I still use it often seems its most often used for straining out stocks. I freeze celery ends , carrot peelings, onion skins, etc( we do not have chickens ) ( yet- possibly) and make stock with chicken carcass or beef bones. But did not know to call it a food mill. I just called it Mom's strainer. 🙋

That pie looks so yummy! I have a suggestion for the grapes that you freeze. If you flash freeze them so they don't stick together you can totally fill a ziploc bag and can measure out 2 cups without having to thaw the whole bag. Also, they are soooo good frozen as a pop in your mouth cold snack on a hot summer day! I love them that way! You can even put some in your water glass as grape ice cubes!

How I miss Concord grapes! When I was very young, sometime around 1968, Mom planted two vines on our chain link fence at our house in Kansas. In a couple years, we had our first grape jams, jellies, juice, and vinegar. That's when I got the canning bug. My brother died this year and I had to return for the funeral. Ran by the old house and one of those grape vines was still going strong. Did my heart good to see that.

Having some grape juice is such a blessing. I used to pre-order Concord grapes at my local grocery store. They could get in some bushels, but not enough to make selling them in the produce department worthwhile. I always did 1c. of grapes and 1/2 cup sugar in each jar. The hardest part was waiting a few weeks for the best flavor to come out of the grapes. I know your family will love having these on hand. Blessed day!
