    For the amount of schooling to get registered its worth it as one of the best college choices. No other career can get you around 17 to 22 an hour as a grad awaiting registration. Then 22+ in retail. With hospital clinical pharmacies paying 30 to 45 an hour not including premiums.

    I know in Illinois the minimum wage is about 10 dollars an hour so that makes sense. In Washington state where I live Walgreens starts an unlicensed pharmacy tech apprentice/trainee at 16.50 with a dollar raise after getting certified. Our minimum is 13.50 though so when you read numbers online make sure you take into account what the minimum in that state is.

      California pays more than other states. Illinois is WAY less in regards to cost of living. It makes sense why someone would get paid more in Cali as houses are up to 1 million dollars for a 2000 sq ft house. In Illinois that would be about 200-300K.

      Hi, I'm a Pharmacy Tech and I once asked that questions. I was put into pharmtech class due to MA classes being full. My teacher in High School always told us that we would never compete with any of our classmate for the same job. Along with the high demand, the flexibility of hours. I go to university and still kept my job as part-time. I asked my classmates regarding their job, they said that most of doctor's office for MA's are in need of full timer. It also depends on your passion. =) hope that helps!

It may vary by state and employer so I would do research on what the specific requirements are for your state and companies you are interested in applying to.

    Man, that's really low. I can't. lol. Not only is it low, but the cap potential is stupid low as well, imo. You could be a pharma tech for 10 years and still be making less than $21 an hour. I think the highest pay in the 90% is $48k and that's in NJ. If you're getting paid that amount in NJ that means that there are many other states where the max is prob $10k or $15k less than that for that percentile, lol. Thanks for the info. I need a career that pays me $40k+ starting and has the potential to grow to $60k in 5 years or less. Prob going to go with Ultrasound tech or Radiology tech. My brother in law got certified as a Radiology tech they started him at $28 an hour, that was 4 years ago. He's now making $37 an hour, lol. It's great. Less than 5 years and he's making that mulaaa. He's prob going to be making $80k a year in another 5 to 10 years.

    • @RosaPerez
      @RosaPerez  Před 3 lety

      I agree if you’re interested in making more money I wouldn’t do pharmacy tech. Overall throughout your lifetime he probably will get maxed out and not be able to make any more money. @@riotz8742 My brother in law is doing amazing. It was a little rough at first. He had to accept pt work at two diff hospitals when he graduated and his schedule was all over the place. But, it's a sacrifice you have to make when you graduate and want work as a radiologist tech. Now he's actually certified to do MRI scans. He's only been doing it for a total of 5 years and is already making about $47 an hour last time I talked with him. Now he only works for one hospital 4 days a week 10 hour shifts and has 3 days off but is on call one one of his weekend days off. He went to school for two years and that was all there was to it. I was considering doing it myself, but haven't decided yet. He did get some loans and financial aid and is paying off the loans now, I think he owed around 50k when he was done. Somewhere around that. So you would have to factor that in if you still owe any loans from when you went to vet school. He told me that when you graduate you have two options. You either take whatever you can get and sacrifice a lot of your time with really shitty work hours when you graduate just so you can get in the door and get some experience like he did, and eventually you get an offer to be full time at a hospital or clinic or whatever. The other option is once you graduate you have to be willing to move to another state if you have to to get that position. But it only took him doing the 2 year program, he got his degree and he pretty much found work within a couple weeks of graduating. He said he loves it. That pay is amazing tho. Remember the pay I mentioned of $47 an hour is because he is now certified to also do MRI scans. He also works in a hospital in central NJ, which anyone working in the medical field in a city or in this case the Tri-state area is going to make more than someone working...anywhere that isn't those places, lol. But either way the pay is great no matter what.
