I would check and see if you need to be certified or anything for your state before you look into pharmacies. My process went well. I got hired first and had a great interview! I also had an advantage that my mom works for the same employer, but a lot of it was from me having a great interviewing process with HR and the pharmacist. After that, I did background checks for my employer and to get licensed. I received my license in the mail, and the pharmacy has to keep it. Now my working experience: i take it day by day. You only get better if you ask questions! Do not be afraid to! Use a notebook and take notes!

I thought this would be a good start for me to get my foot in the door after looking for healthcare jobs online through indeed. You're welcome Sabrina! I am glad this video was helpful to you :) Congratulations on starting your externship! I would only work 3 days a week when I first started at walgreens and it took me about 6 months to feel completely comfortable! Which honestly isn't that long because I wasn't training full time! I already had register experience so it was just a matter of getting comfortable with the pharmacy workflow and all of the pharmacy stuff I needed to learn. I felt very comfortable answering almost any question once I reached the 6 month mark. Don't worry about how long it will take you because once you work your first couple of shifts you will get a good feel for it! Make sure to ask lots of questions and learn from your mistakes :)

And I don’t know the system well at all so I kept asking and asking for help, but time does fly by super fast. They haven’t sent in to get my license since I needed to order my birth certificate so that’s making a delay to get. So as of now I can’t really do much like, I can get into the computer system only thing I got down was looking up customers by last name and giving them their medication and cashiering.

Drive thru is a little harder since you can hardly hear people and they get frustrated. And the one thing that annoyed me today was we got a lot of people wanting their flu shot and I couldn’t help or do anything since I don’t have my certification or license yet. But let me know how it goes for you.

the interview isn’t anything different from a regular one, just do what you do & make sure you express your interest about the pharmacy position. I had no real experience in the pharmacy, I told them that it was my dream job and i’m ready to learn more & move up in life. YOU GOT THIS .. oh and if u have to call them and boost ur name before u get an interview - do that! claim your spot

I think it would depend on the person. There are people who retire from the pharmacy and there are people who don’t stay very long it just depends if you want to continue on in this career path or move on to something else.

No I want to add on to this video as it is not AS informative... straight up! Pharmacy is fast-paced! I’m the job looks slow on the outside but it’s actually fast especially if your working at a busy location I work in Dallas Tx in a upscale area doctors who call in prescriptions can be very very demanding and rude this job is NOT one to take personal or feel to happy about I quickly realize it’s good pay but you’ll be working for tht pay meaning you’ll be standing on your feet you’ll be expected to show up on time no slacking what so ever and we at Walgreens get one break it’s when ALL THE TECHES AND PHARMACISTS go to lunch for ONLY 30 mins and when you come BACK from lunch the line and drive through is long of people waiting on their promised time medications ! Also people drop off their prescription and are expecting it to be ready right away ! Don’t be nervous just the reality is this isn’t a fun job if you can’t handle pressure and no your not stupid either if you can’t catch ok NEVRR give up never ! Just breathe and know that it does take time also on the back of prescription papers you can read how to pronounce a word!

You’re right about everything you said. I talk about a lot of these aspects in my pros and cons video. I didn’t go over in this video because I wanted to just be more on how you should be prepared for the first day but yes I totally agree with you the pharmacy is not easy and you do put in a lot of work! It’s not easy and you have to multitask for sure!
