I've learned that so may people all around the world appreciate our culture and history. I'm thankful for the video period. Truthfully I have learned so much from people of other races. Some have acknowledged that our history has been hidden from us and there is so much that we are never taught. Those people directed me to books full of information written by Blacks that enlightened me on so many events, people, movements, etc. that I was never taught about. My point is that it doesn't matter about the person talking over the video, it matters most about the accuracy and information in the video and for that they receive the highest mark. We have to expand our minds and views...we are everywhere and in every culture and there are so many people who recognize and respect that...when the reality of that sinks in its humbling. God bless.

Showing pride in your race is never right remember that. No matter which race you come from. Because it means you're promoting division between people. There are more deaths in America caused by Americans themselves than by radical Islamic terrorists yet people still support Trump's decision to ban people from so many nations. It doesn't make logical sense at all. A lot of families have been badly effected by this. The one where a small boy waiting at the airport for hours is absolutely heartbreaking. What are you thinking Americans? This stuff is inhuman. I never judged Trump by his words but I definitely have the right to judge him by his actions and this is absolutely ridiculous.

There's a lot to cover when it comes to slavery and the civil rights movement, which is history about BLACK people. I think it's very significant history and deserves a month to be focused on. I don't feel left out or intimidated by it. Nearly everything else taught in American history is white people history. Let's learn a lesson from the ignorance of people in the past and move forward from that backwards way of thinking.

Or 4000 years of Egyptian history. When the Europeans colonized Africa, black people hadn't even invented the wheel. Black people don't have history. Accept it! :D

By the way: I googled "Black Philosophers", and this came up: There are only 10 black philosophers ever in America. 8 out of 10 are still alive. 8 out of 10 are all about civil rights and Afro-American studies. 2 of them aren't even black I assume, because one is more Native American an one is more white than black. Many of them are profs at universities.
F******* Congrats, I was wrong, there are actually a couple of black philosophers, but none of them is very important. This is still nothing compared to white philosophers, but you can thank them that you can write such nonsense because of their society theories....

thank you. very informative and enlightening. it's always interesting in studying black history that I find something new that I didn't know before. it seems that studying black history helps me to be a better person. learning more of my roots. the slavery and civil rights era are always the saddest to watch but I don't dwell on it. what I find so fascinating is the many many black inventors. writers. doctors. lawyers.an the list goes on and on. just seeing the brilliance of their minds uplifts me. but most of all are the great leaders we've had. Martin Luther King. Benjamin Hooks. and many others in the Civil Rights era. and there are many many others. I can't list them all. and all the way back to the slavery era. Harriet Tubman. and many more I can't list. but all of these people who I am very thankful an grateful for what they did for us. their name. face. an memory will be forever etched in my mind. YES they need not just a course in black history BUT BLENDED in with American history. after all America was mostly built from the sweat an labor of slaves. just as Egypt's pyramid built by slaves. there also should be a better history on Indians in schools. another incredible beautiful race of people. I'm learning more about Indian tribal history from cowboy movies and from CZcams. than I find in history books. lest we forget they were here first.

I love Black History Month so much. I love learning about history, especially when its the history of people other than white people. I'm white, but why so much discrimination about learning other people's history? We're all human and, white people already have most everything. This shouldn't just be a one month thing, it should be a whenever the hell thing

As someone from foreign country, I would like to ask you this - wouldn't it be better to just teach... History? People of all races contributed to it, most of them didn't think about what colour they are, but considered themselves as individuals.

    Here some other facts:
A few towsand black men, free and along side their masters, volunteered to fight in the conferate army and they had their guns and promoted their own officials.
American free black men did own slaves, as early as 1654 and through the civil war
The first black men to become officers in the military for the first time ever in America was while fighting for the confederate states (unlike the Union, where blacks served as cookers and other non combatent positions, as we have seen in movies)
Whites (English and Portuguese as far as I know) bought black slaves from Black slavers. Because an European person would die of diseace shortly after setting foot in African ground, so Africans were the middle men in the slave trade. (They would buy slaves with gold or if there was inside conflicts, black slavers would rather have European guns)
Sunday churches in black communities are much less boring than Sunday church in white communities. Love them singing, I feel happiness when I hear "Oh happy day!" in movies.

Crispus Attucks (a black freeman) was the first person killed in the Boston massacre, and is widely considered to be the first American casualty in the American Revolutionary War. Why is this historic fact among the top 5, 10, 20?
