  • Adding a recirculating pump to your water heater can prevent wasted water! Imagine turning on the hot water, and getting almost instant access to hot water, rather than wasting all that water down the drain till it gets to your desired temperature.
    Recirculating pumps have many benefits. This device can be programmed to operate as specific times of the day, as many times as you'd like. Recirculating pumps simply attach to your water heater through the hot supply line. From the furthest fixture in your home, the water is being constantly recirculated, keeping the temperature consistent.
    If you'd like one of these in your home, we can supply and install for you! Or if you have any questions, please reach out to us!

    I would rather run a PEX dedicated return line to the water heater than have my cold water run hot initially. I'd like to see an installation using that method.

      Understandable, but in Europe, water and electric are run inside brick walls. It’s not easily done. Additionally, certain water heater tanks may not have a return valve to hook this into. Too many dependencies.
      I think it would be easier, assuming that this is a recurrent issue, to simply buy a cheap ass, smallish, tank water heater, and hook the hot water connection to it instead. Every day it would fill the tank with cold/warmish water, while it heats the hot pipes. Or, to the toilet (to be used in flushing).
      Everything would be centered around in the same room. I’m sure that there are other ways to make smart use this left over water.

      @@TechdoLiberal Same here in Mexico, most houses have their piping places inside the brick walls, it would need to be planned well beforehand to make the channels for the copper water pipes or PEX, though I would also add insulation around the hot pipes to reduce the heat-loss from the hot pipe system.

    Great video, concisely describes how these units work. I have a standalone water tank that is heated by my oil, burning furnace, it’s set up as one of the zones. I have a cold water mixing valve, tank is at 140° and the valve is such a 120°. Would there be any issues connecting one of these pumps to my current system? And if it is OK with it go before or after the mixing valve?

    Hello. Thank you for the video. For a water recirculation pump to be effective should you place a bypass at each of the fixtures that a person wants quick hot water present?

    • @fotopdo
      @fotopdo Před 5 měsíci

      My understanding is that if you have a trunk line, where the hot water goes from the tank in a straight line with the various fixtures branching off, you only need a bypass at the last fixture. But if your hot water supplies branch off in different directions at the water heater, then you may need a bypass valve at each location

    Glad i came across your video as i was just thinking about installing a hot water recirculating pump to have instant hot water in my master bath and to save on water because i have to wait literally 3-5 minutes for the hot water to travel from my water heater to my master bath which will easily save 25-35 gallons of water or much more considering i have 5 people living in the house with 3 full baths - But i am wondering how much my electric bill will go up by having the pump running from 6 am to 10 pm at night in order to enjoy the convenience of having instant hot water at all the faucets in the house. So the question is, how many watts does the pump use, and how long will the pump last if running 16 hours per day?

    • @josepeixoto3384
      @josepeixoto3384 Před rokem +1

      pumps are around 100 watts; that is not the worst part; the worst part is the fact the the pipe being hot all the time, it will waste a lot of energ yheating up the walls on the way; with the pipe set in concrete,my neighbor's gas bill doubled,he called back the plumber to eliminate it,water is plentiful and cheaper.

      The tankless unit they show has that feature built-in. I did see another video for a guy with a water tank heater bypassed the timer and used a fairly simple temperature activated switch. I use a similar switch to make a proofing box for baking. I use a cooler, a heating mat meant for reptile, cages, and a switch that has a temperature sensor. On the timer, you set the temperature that activates the pump, and the temp it turns back off at. I believe the temperature switch I bought was about 25 bucks on Amazon. I don’t have that link handy but if I have time I’ll follow up and post it.

    • @TechdoLiberal
      @TechdoLiberal Před rokem +2

      @@Phelper99 the thing is, the previous reply didn’t really address it directly. But the answer is yes, basically it cold water inside the heat pipe is pushed back into the storage tank through the cold water pipe.
      Once the temperature reaches a certain threshold, the valve the connects the cold water to the warm water closes, and now it’s filled with hot water. But, the cold side now is full of “warm” water.
      So if you need cole water you’ll have to dump that one instead.
