Surprisingly the show was told from a wide variety of perspectives from Africa-American slaves to the British soldiers witnessing history. It was incredible historical fiction that truly taught young kids like me back in the day about the American Revolution. It inspires me to write this quote: "True patriotism is not based on blind loyalty to the state nor its worship. It is about embodying the virtues and morality that make this country great. At times, it is a duty of a patriot to turn against the country itself if it fails to live up to the expectations of their citizens who invested their trust towards the government."

@@Family.CZcams.account Actually at the beginning of the series (about 1773), Sarah is 15, James is 14, and Henri is 8, so towards the end of the series (1787) Sarah would be about 29, James 28, and Henri 22 which doesn't make sense LOL but also Ben Franklin died in 1790 so he would still be around at the end of the series.

The first draft of the Declaration Of Independence called for the end of slavery. Unfortunately this angered the delegates from South Carolina and Georgia to the point where they threatened to not join the other colonies. So it unfortunately was removed.

It was under the assumption that the need for slavery would die down starting in 1800, which actually was the cutoff date for importing new slaves. If it wasn’t for the Cotton Gin, likely it would have died down on its own and become obsolete.

11:05 Wholeheartedly agree! What makes characters (& historical figures) relatable is how they deal with their FLAWS. Having Franklin actually admit to his past prejudices and that he was wrong for thinking that way would've actually made him more compelling and even make you root for him more for where he is now in helping others like Moses.

Im curious to see if there is any lost media from this such as scripts and storyboards, if anyone from the crew still has any of that I hope they upload it to the internet some day for everyone to see.

my 1 other issue with the show - our main trio does not AGE!
The show covers events from 1773 - 1787
Sarah was 15, James 14 & Henri 8 or 9 at the start of the series, yet not once in the 14 years over the course of the show do they look any older!
Showing the trio grown up after all the events of the show would've further shown their growth from Liberty Kids at the start to Liberty Adults at the end. I would love to have seen Sarah at 29, James at 28 & Henri at 22 (or) 23 😩

Here is my story of my love for Liberty's Kids. I remember it as if it was yesterday... It was an August afternoon and I was only 8 years old. A package arrived that afternoon and my mom said it was for me. She knew I was really into the American Revolution and all that so I assumed she ordered it for that reason. We opened it and it was a case of 4 dvds that said Liberty's Kids. I'd never heard of this show before, but I was curious to see what this show was actually about. When I put the first Dvd into the player, the main menu popped up on screen and I pressed the "Play All" button. Then the theme song came on and I instantly loved it. The first episode I watched was The Boston Tea Party. I loved everything about it, especially the British soldiers as I was usually a British sympathizer and would always dress up as best I could as a British soldier. My favorite characters were James and Henri, and I thought Sarah to be annoying. Moses was really good too. After watching that episode I watched a few more, but I think my favorites were The Shot Heard Round The World, United We Stand, and Bunker Hill. I continued to watch the show until I was about 11-12. I was getting into the early teenage years and I was growing out of history and all that and getting into video games and all that. But just until maybe about a month or two ago did my interest in the American Revolution revive itself. I decided to watch some Liberty's Kids bc I hadn't watched any in probably 5-6 years (I'm 17) for nostalgia purposes and afterwards, I really saw and understood the messages the show was trying to present. It was a big part of my childhood and if I ever had kids in the future, I'll be sure to have them watch this. Overall a great, underrated show and I'm glad there are others out there who are just as interested in this show as I am.

I really feel like the aging issue isn’t as big a deal as everyone’s making it out to be. The whole point is viewing the events of the Revolutionary War in a relatable way to kids and teens, and watching how the characters react and grow. If the characters are jumping multiple years, we’d be missing a baffling amount of development and also losing the relatability our characters may possess.

One character that’s burned into my memory is John Paul Jones, in his episode, his determination to keep fighting even when defeat was certain really stood out to kid me. In particular, there’s a moment where British prisoners are about to escape from the burning ship but he stands over them with 4 pistols in his waist and tells them to help fight or die; SO BADASS. Later I would find out he’s considered the father of the US Navy.

I love Liberty Kids and It’s because of this show that when our 7th or 8th grade history teacher gave us a test I got all but one question right. It ended up being me and two of my classmates that got to sit outside of the class the next day while everyone else retook the test. Funny thing is is that while I had 1 question wrong, my classmates had 2 & 3 questions wrong. My dad ended up buying me the entire series on dvd in high school. I don’t think I’ll ever stop loving Liberty Kids.

I completely forgot this show existed. The first time I watched it was in elementary school our history teacher would show us some clips or full episodes when we were going over the American Revolution and I don't know if the show was ever popular as when I first watched the show it had been over for 11-12 years after the final episode aired before reruns. However I rewatched and it's surprising and interesting that they made a dark topic into a kids show while keeping the elements.

When Liberty's Kids Premiered on PBS Kids on September 2, 2002, it Aired at 4:30 PM on GBH 2. Then on September 1, 2003. It moved to 5:30 PM and stayed there until October 8, 2004 when it no longer Aired on PBS Kids. Liberty's Kids also Aired on The DIC Kids Network in September 2004, 2005 on Spacetoon, 2008 on History, This TV's Cookie Jar Toons Block and on CBS' Crookie Jar TV Block from 2012 to 2013, Starz Kids And Family in 2017 and on Starz Encore Family until August 2019. However until July 4th of Last Year, the Series Aired on Starz Encore Family as a Series Long Marathon on Independence Day. When the Show aired on the other Networks after the PBS Kids Run, they didn't air the LNN Segments. I liked how they cast Walter Cronkite as Benjamin Franklin. RIP Walter Cronkite I think my Favorite Characters were Sarah and Henri

It was not only educational but somewhat entertaining to watch, I originally watched it to laugh at it but ended up loving it despite me not really being in the age range of their demographic LMAO crazy how they made me patriotic for a good 20 mins despite me literally not even being an American.
