- Watch me dig into a mystery box of CDs I bought from eBay. They said they would give me rock and metal CDs! So did I find gems or duds?!

Thrift Shops, half price books stores.. etc is the where the majority of this stock comes from. If you have a wider choice of musical tastes you can often get a lot of good cd's.
These in my opinion though are just ways for sellers to get rid of stuff that’s impossible to sell but I must admit it’s fascinating.
I was typing how those are always bs but one nice thing to point out is you’re much more likely for the few years still to find better gems in CD lots as oppose to Vinyl lots because it’s all about how many and what kind of people sorted through the lots first either by the one who you got it from or before that
When the video started I said to myself "If he's lucky he'll get a Madonna CD" and sure enough one of the first CD's you pulled out was a Madonna CD. When you spend a lot of time in used CD stores you get to see the same stuff over and over.

Honestly, all I was seeing was exactly what I find around my local shops here in NZ.

Honestly, mostly common stuff, but still enough worth listening too at least. Norah jones for example is amazing, but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a copy sometimes multiple copies at every thrift shop I’ve been to. Fun video though, cds are so underrated these days!

Funny coincidence that your video came up on my recommended list when I have a stack of Half Price Books clearance bin CDs on my desk from today's trip to one of their stores in Austin, Texas (where they were founded). They are a used book/vinyl/CD/DVD shop with locations all around the U.S.. They buy your used media for pennies on the dollar and sell it for... you guessed it, half of the list price. Used CDs that don't sell in the 5.99 to 14.99 racks, get flushed to the clearance bins for two bucks (used to be a dollar!). I guess the ones that don't sell there, get sold in these mystery box listings. I visit one of their stores (a few in the Austin area) once or twice a month searching for a gem or something to fill out my collection. Here are to ones I bought today:
Dave Mason - Best Of - Mason was a 60s/70s pop icon. Ex member of Traffic.
Toure Kunda - Mouslai - African pop band
Zyedco Gumbo - Various creole/zydeco tracks
The Reivers - Translate Slowly - an Austin band popular here in the 80s
Milton Nascimento - Txai - Brazilian vocalist
Matt the Electrician - Animal Boy - another Austin area musician popular back in the day
Steve Vai - The Elusive Light and Sound Vol1 - guitar wizard
Orbital - In Sides - Electronic music heavies
Eric Byrd Trio - jazz trio
Dave Brubeck - Once When I Was Very Young - Brubeck is a jazz legend
The Bothy Band - Live In Concert - Irish folk music
Nothing earth shaking, but some good deals for a couple of buck apiece. Conclusion: You have to search the clearance bins regularly to find anything worth buying. Buying the dreck online is probably going to be disappointing since it's already been picked over multiple times. Thanks for the video!
very funny collection of cds! even funnier that you could make your money back! and funniest is that you give those as extras for a laugh!
We have a few Half Price Book and More stores by my house in Phoenix, Arizona. Looks like that's where most of these CD's came from. They have some decent stuff in their normal CD racks, but the ones that don't sell or are too scratched they throw in the clearance bin. If they don't sell them in the clearance bin then apparently they box them up and ship them to Australia : )

If you have an open mind, there's some decent stuff in there. Robert Cray in particular is awesome.
I found two out of three regular CD's of Dutch band The Fatal Flowers and one double CD compilation in a thrift shop in my hometown Assen, The Netherlands. All of the CD's are quite rare so getting the CD's for a total of 3 Euros was quite a bargain.
Unfortunately those finds are not something that happens every week. 10:20
👋 Hi Indigo Girls, Lenny Kravitz, Macy Gray, James Brown, Bonnie Riatt, are the only cds i would buy. I haven't heard of some of those groups.
This was like watching someone play the pokies - hit the feature a few times (Peter Gabriel, Tears For Fears, Yes, Robert Cray etc), but we all knew where it was gonna end up.
Weird part was that I was actually listening to that Filter album for the first time in *years* just a couple of days ago because the new Dreamcatcher track reminded me of them a bit.
Haha yes, destined to fail. It was never going to end well.

Mid to late 90's used common overstock in below average condition! Great if you like that era's pop.
