The original (non-reduced) blanks of the 105 mm M1 variants really produced a loud "BOOM". Placement and orientation was important so as to not cause ear damage and broken windows. Dirties the barrel, so must be soaked with oil and cleaned as soon as possible.

That's better: a slightly more background "boom" from the cannons, instead of a close-up shriek

Does anyone have the translation of what he is saying into English? Or can someone type out what he is saying in Norwegian so I can translate it into English? I have tried google translate and other apps but they can't seem to understand what he is saying. Thank you.

Alle kirkeklokker ringer, Tsarhymnen synges og alle Moskvas festninger skyter salutt.

00:00:17 In June 1812, more than 600,000 soldiers from 14 nations march under the leadership of Keiser Napoleon, into Russia. The Russian army suffered defeat after defeat but retreated, and forced Napoleon deeper and deeper into the rich Russian empire. The first thing we hear is the Russian Orthodox Complaint - The Holy Cross.
00:03:15 This part symbolizes the course of the campaign. You hear the French national anthem on the rise and the Russians' continual retreat.
00:04:02 The battlefield is filled with drama and suffering.
00:06:23 The Russian people's soul is found in the woodblower's citation of the folk dance "The enemy of my port". They burned everything they found from villages and crops to deny the French soldiers supplies. The tactics of the burned earth.
00:08:40 The French campaign fail in the small town Borodino outside Moscow. Here, one third of Napoleon's army is wiped out, and the French seek shelter in Moscow. But the Russians are determined to deny them holding this jewel in the Russian Empire. They have made it unthinkable, lit their own city. Moscow burns!
00:09:36 Napoleon's Grande Armé must make a retreat through the bitter Russian winter. Under a tenth of his army survives. In the finale we will hear the voice of the Russian people. All church bells call, the Tsarhymne is singing and all the fortresses of Moscow shoot salute.

Never before in the history has a cunductor Major Eldar Nilsen accompanied The famous "1812-ouverture" with - Order of Fire - to a Flag Signalist - over the top of the fortress - and Down to the Salute battery at Oscarsborg Fortress. Soldiers from H.M. Kings Guard and the norwegain Heimevernet, Home Guard, loved it. They did it.

I don't think this format works. I saw this performed at Leeds Castle in the late 80's. The Orchestra was in a sound Projecting stage/tent and 25lb guns were arrayed right and left of the stage. The Orchestra was clear, and the guns BOOMED! That Worked! ☺

  • @alfredosantanabarrientos6580
