No introduction really required for this very lively and popular reel. Composed by Joe Cooley, the box player. - Hudba
I picked up violin randomly about five years ago and fell for the instrument. This was my first reel, which I learned playing along to this video. After five years, and playing this again today, I thought it about time to say thank you, what a hugely influential person you are on my playing. You and John Hartford of course! :-)
We want video, there's only so few of this reel online, and it's fantastic. Great work on perseverance:)
I can't stop my leg

This is normal
Robert Kline had the same problem - wrote a blues song about it. 😁
@@proudbanjoist 😂😉
Restless Leg Syndrome is pretty common, after all.
~10% of the US population is afflicted by it.

I’m in forth grade. My music teacher showed me the song and a Scottish Dance I really liked the dance and song!
This is the best Cooley Reel I have heard so far.
Great version. Hoping I can keep up with your version on the tin whistle one day

That's awesome music, I sure miss the Rock.
I'm pretty sure the last 5000 views of this video and the two lessons you did for this tune are me over the last 2 weeks, trying my hardest to sound the same. I reckon I'm around another 5000 goes away from sounding anything like it. Super helpful though. Thanks for putting them up.
You could keep on playing for a week and it would still not annoy me. Thank you!
Great version
while decided different and absolutely distinct, this reminds me a lot of the Caribou Reel
Merry Xmas to Peakfiddler.
I love this tune immenseably. Little, or should I say a lot hard for me. But, I will give it my best!

Wow this really reminds me of the last moments of the town of Elnor before it's terrible destruction by the dark forces of Akron
Damn fine fiddlin!
Great! What strange 3 persons gave this a thumbs down. Excellent cheers John.
Thank you I only wish I could play like that
happiness ..thank you!!
Hey that's great, glad you like it.
It's awesome ..thank you !!
love it
Great job great tone gives info on what strings and volin
It's a jay haide l'ancienne violin, which I bought second hand quite a few years ago and I use Pirastro Tonica medium strings and the top E is a Kaplan non whistling string.
Look at you. Ads and all. Bravo as always.
Hello my friend. Thanks for all you do to help us learn. We all appreciate you! Would you happen to have the backtrack for Cooleys Reel that you are using in this video? Thank you!
Excelente
Wow! Lets jam!!!
Man you are good!!
Bravo
Neat and demure, touches a fiddle and now the devil is running away!
Also, I see you tilt your hair toward the bridge like I do. Penny for your thoughts? I've read and been told that's the wrong way and it should tilt toward the neck.
Mr. Spock kills this!
Nice playing! Where's the backing track from?
I record the fiddle part first, then record the additional instruments afterwards, bass, banjo and guitar.
Lord, I have senior moments. Had forgotten I'd already posted before
My name is Aaron. I have just started learning the fiddle at the age of 46. I have Hope's of playing like that some day. Do you think there's a chance?
Yes, most definitely. Keep at it, but have fun learning those tunes that you really want to play. Slow them down if necessary, to get the hang of how they are bowed and try to work out the notes of the tune. Try a few simple slides, they are easy and always sound good in a tune.
Sounds great where does the playback come from??
What make is your violin and brand of strings? You are awesome
Hi Lisa, My violin is a Jay Haide Le Ancienne, which I bought second hand some years ago. The strings I use are Pirastro Tonica Medium strings with a Kaplan Non Whistling E string. Many thanks for your nice comment btw
Wooooooo
I'm trying to learn this, I sound nothing like this
Try slowing the video down using the settings tab, then play along
Hah! Me too!
Elnor's Magic Valley by Rhapsody anyone?
Amigo de que tamaño es este violin ? ,gracias 🙏
👍
Какая интересная музыка! А мои ассоциации ещё интереснее...))
Me: What will we do with drunken sailor?
Arabesque: Friday night! Friday night! Friiiiidaaaaay night! Friiiiidaaaaay niiiiight!🙃🙃🙃
There are 15 people who don’t like this jam...
Who in the HELL are they? R E A L L Y????
like!!! :)
Im number 1000 liker!
Many thanks, much appreciated
@@peakfiddler Actually this was written by Michael Gorman, who called it "Put the Cake on the Dresser." It's just associated with Cooley. Nice playing.
so when are you and the developers of Assassins Creed going to get together to a sound track?.
かっこ良すぎ
Como siempre, impagable....
Thank you for the previous reply. Any suggestions for a intermediate quality fiddle not made in China? It seems everything is made in China and the CCP gets a cut going to build it's military. Would like to find one made in Ireland or the former Scotland (damn Brits!) for around $500.00 USA money. Would like to support the Irish or Scot if any without going over a thousand dollars.
Your best bet is look for an older second hand fiddle. Nearly all new hand made fiddles come in around the 2000 dollar mark or more
@@peakfiddler Thank you. Don't stop playing, in the word of a younger generation you play ... Awesome.
Nice play ! lovely version just violin looks like 3/4 or you must be giant :)
Regular size violin and I don't think I'm a giant, so I guess it's down to a funny camera angle, well I hope so anyway else I'll need some new clothes, haha
its e minor d major whats the other chord ???
b minor
Oh so that's where string cheese got it from?
