Hari decided to fit Tannus Tyre Armour to his Royal Dutch Gazelle Avignon C380 HMB E-Bike. (www.gazellebikes.com/en-us/ga....
Although Hari had never done this before he could see that there would be complications, especially as he was keen that the tube should be able to be replaced in the field, with the tools that he carried.
The Tannus Tyre Armour Insert is positioned between the inner tube and the tire. This Armour increases puncture protection, reduces maintenance and increases comfort.(www.tannus.co.uk/)
As it turned out he needed two essential devices in order to make it practical in the field:
1) A Handlebar Jack which simply and securely attaches to the bike's handlebars and adds a 3.7 " offset from the handlebars to the ground. This offset protects the e-bike displays, throttles, and any other handlebar mounted accessory from touching the ground. The device can be used at the road side to upend the bike onto its handlebars and seat to perform needed repairs. (www.handlebarjack.com/)
2) A Tyre Glider is a recently invented hand-held tool designed to help change tyres easily (tyreglider.co.uk/)
