my sy50u doesnt really have a cup holder, I swapped the lower window knobs for Ram mount balls to get 2 hard points. they are 6mm threaded so easy to swap. your cab is huge compared to the phone booth on my mini. the sy50u I demo'd had the blade control in a bad spot as well, but the one I bought is moved to a more traditional reachable placement. you can probably make a lever to get what you want there.

Yeah that is on my to do list! I am decent at CAD and 3d printing. So I can definitely make some nice storage boxes for behind the seat and probably a good system to clamp onto the existing blade lever and bend some rod to get it to where I want it!

Man that’s a pretty big digger looking at it from above. I have just had the chance to run my little excavator always wanted to try a big one

I have ran up to a 350. Spent a lot of time on 300 and 210s but honestly I think this size is one of my favorites. Obviously depends what you’re working on. But this is a great size for residential construction

I was in sy500 on a big site development job. 72in bucket it handled extremely well. The only gripe I had was cab comfort. You could never get that seat/arm rest adjustment just right. Other than that, power was phenomenal. It was just such a phenomenal machine overall

    •Fuel usage/economy
•Ease/access of self service…Fluid/filter changes, lube point accessibility etc
•Wear and tear on the usual suspects after 300hrs

I am over 500hrs on my sy50u. the auto-idle is far more aggressive on this then any other machine I have ever run. tracking down a hill it will idle down as it senses low load on the motor. mine came with a quick connection on the drain plug for the oil, all filters are easily accessible. grease points a re pretty good, I was spoiled on my old kubota as it was grease-able all from 1 side of the stick and boom if you stretched it out with bucket flat

Nice review/update. I have about 200 hours on my sy50u, enjoy using it, but I'm not making my living with it. What is the display attached to the side window @6:15?

I see a lot of Sany and Sunward mini excavators for sale used, from 1.5 up to 8 ton. The thing that concerns me is that I have yet to see one (from memory over 3 years looking) with more than 1000 hours on it. The majority are for sale with under 500 hours, many under 100. This could reflect that they are newer to the market and that they are all being brought by people with personal "small" projects that they have completed, but you see pro's and rental company's selling them at low hours to, when they tend to keep more established/expensive brands for thousands of hours.
Im not criticizing the machines and I have no reason to question their reliability or longevity based on my research. I just see a very strange pattern in their sales that Im trying to figure out while I am looking at whats the safest bet for me purchasing.

Yeah I see what you are seeing! Ultimately time will tell! I think a lot of it is also that a lot of the fly by night start up guys have bought them and can’t keep the work and need rid of the payment. I’m over a year in and still very pleased with mine!

@@diggingwithdylan9092Its just unusual as there isnt a lack of them for sales volume wise. Of course today I found a Sunward SWE18 with 3200 hours for sale. So there is at least one!

is blade electric over hydraulic? can they program stick buttons to run it? that is one of the questions I have for my dealer with my sy50u

    • @diggingwithdylan9092
      @diggingwithdylan9092  Před 10 měsíci +1

That’s a very good question! I kinda expect it to be direct hydraulic. But would be cool if I could do that!

Hey good work , I called the company in regards to the counterweight !
Also, looking at a 60 inch tilt rotator bucket , don't have a big budget CMP has one for $10k , I know these things can cost upwards of $40k
60 inch bucket work well with SY80 ?

Comrade, just because this dude is rich and bought a new trackhoe doesn't mean there aren't old ones still around. Tons of old Hyundais and Deer units still running that are 30+ years old.

Rich and good credit are two very different things🤣 I have been a one man show. And although I love the simplicity and reliability of the older machines. I’ve had a lot of them and it got to the point I had so much work I did not have time to stay on top of the repairs I was running into on my older stuff. And a reliable mechanic is hard to find here. It is more efficient for me in the long run to keep a newer machine even if I have to trade every few years I am able to keep moving dirt and mechanic less often. I would love it if you could buy the old simple mechanical machines fully restored or brand new again.
